Superflight Night OP Simulation: Day 1-ish

Published

on

Okay ladies and gentlemen, I have decided to take a break from pure coverage and begin a gaming series for you. One that we can all enjoy as we chase the white rabbit down his twisted little trail. This will consist of a purely hypothetical situations and maybe some pre-PPV match card predictions based off of a system of in game A.I., matchmaking, and drawing statistics from the matches and putting them into a statistical manner.

Now for the basics. Depending on what category I decide to tackle any given week, the rules for the match up will be under standard in game rules not custom match rules (maybe for qualifiers into a true dream match later, just so we can play with it). I will also start off only using characters that are available currently and later with V.C. (virtual currency) purchase-ables, as well as DLC characters. Mathematics will be very straight forward and easy to derive percentages from.

Welcome to Superflight Night brought to you by YES! Wrestling and smoothskinTV.

In order to track the points for this particular sim (and quite possibly any and all future sims), I will have the participants finish 25 of each match type with one point attached to all wins. This is important because as a coverage writer as well as a fan of the wrestling industry, I want to test the accuracy of the creative team’s, superstars’ personality matrices. A document will be attached in order for posterity and point scoring.

I will also make a video of the gameplay from the highlights of the twenty five actual matches for purely entertainment purposes as well as to ensure there are no human controlled characters. I will also like to add that you, as my readers, are encouraged to send dream match ups my way. Who knows, maybe your suggestion will help create some great simulated matches for us fans. Without waiting any longer let’s get on with the battle of this year’s OP’s (overpowered superstars).

OP: Overpowered

Being that we are gonna tackle the OP superstar’s the question is how do we define them. I decided that I would make a list, not a Jericho list, but similar. The superstar has to be active on the current roster (I have made a single exclusion with explanation below). Their overall rating has to be higher than 90. This one here has actually left some people that should be OP not quite making the cut, case and point: Braun Strowman. Not to mention I wanted them to have legitimate buzz surrounding their on screen persona as well as media coverage and merchandising. I will also make it known that the demon version of Finn Bàlor is not included because, let’s be honest paint and a hat is not worth a bump of 4 points to stats overall. Yes, they did this in game, gave the Demon bonus points.

Okay so for those who didn’t know this year’s collector’s edition is the Cena Nuff edition. It comes with an autographed, mounted 4”x6” photo alongside a 1”x1” piece of the ring canvas from the 2017 WWE Royal Rumble; in which John Cena tied Ric Flair for 16 World Championship title victories. A collector’s edition John Cena WWE2k18 Exclusive action figure from Mattel. This version also comes with a hard copy disc of the Deluxe Edition game as well as the code for the season pass, fast track system, and DLC characters John Cena ‘06/‘10, Kurt Angle ‘01/’06 (version had to be pre-ordered, this was a pre-order bonus), Rob Van Dam, and Batista. There are also two cards containing QR/promo cards for bonus swag in the Android based, card game named WWE Supercard. So with that being said and with Cena being absent at the moment for the filming of “Bumblebee,” he will be one of the talent picked for this OP sim. His overall rating is a 93 which is no change from last year.

Personal Collection. Thanks wife-of-the-year!

The second talent is being chosen because he was the cover superstar of last year’s trip to Suplex City. Of coarse it is Bbrrock Lessssnnaarrrr! Sorry, I couldn’t stop myself. But as we gamers and fans of WWE alike know, this guy carries more unnecessary hype than is required. He is always overpowered in game and the part-time champion seems to conquer anything placed in front of him. Time will tell the fate of Beast. Overall rating of 93, down 2 points from last year.

The third player will be this year’s cover superstar Seth “Freakin” Rollins. With the kingslayer blazing a path within the WWE universe as well as the push that always seems to follow a superstar on screen as well as the powersurge in game he is definitely a powerhouse this go round. Maybe we should call him the architect of pain. His overall rating is a 92, which is down a single point from last year. Personally, I find the point drop strange for a cover star.

The phenominal one might just have lost his title, but I don’t think that this will stop A.J. Styles from acquiring the WWE Championship before all is said and done. And I also know that in this year’s game he is one of the highest rated technicians. His overall is up one point from last year’s game to put him at 90 just making the cut for today’s challenge.

In ring action of the first stage of the OP Gauntlet for the YES! Wrestling OP Championship!

With mentioning the minimum overall rating of 90, it is worth mentioning that the next entrant into this match is gonna be The Legend-killer, Randy Orton. He has not been utilized well over the last year or so and I believe this is going to change in the future as his overall in game this year is up to 90 from an 88 last year. This is shaping to be a match of all future hall-of-famers, legends in their own right. Let’s see how this stands up to the man with the monicker.

And to bring up the rear of the pack is the most OP in my opinion, the Big Dog, Roman Reigns. Yes, we know he is overrated on tv and in-game. Most of us do not care for his in-ring ability nor the force fed approach to a John Cena replacement. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy him but, the approach left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth and we all can be adult enough to admit it was poor storyline and authority bias that polluted him. Personally, I do not feel he should be so impossible to overcome in game or on screen either. Yet, the push extends here to WWE 2k18 and the Roman Empire gets a nice 6 point buff, that is only out shined in ridiculousness by Fandango’s 10 point bump, pushing his rating to the highest in the game among current WWE superstars and legends.

So, luckily based on the criteria mentioned above we ended up with 6 total participants. To make things a little more accurate in an effort to truly judge who is the best of the best in all aspects of the game they will be put through all available singles competitors, 6-man variants. This is encompasses Ladder, Hell in a Cell, Elimination Chamber, and Battle Royal match types. The participants will then be ranked by match type, ranked overall, and an OP champion will be declared.
