IMPACT News: Rich Swann Removed From Tonight’s Slammiversary

Published

on

As was noted, IMPACT Wrestling’s Rich Swann competed last Thursday night for Major League Wrestling at Battle Riot in Queens, New York, taking part in a tag team match alongside ACH against The Hart Foundation (Teddy Hart and Davey Boy Smith Jr. accompanied by Brian Pillman Jr). Swann was injured during the match, suffering what was believed to be a “bad concussion” (read about that here) and putting his status for tonight’s Slammiversary pay-per-view in question.

While it’s still unknown when exactly Rich was injured, PWInsider is reporting Swann has now been removed from tonight’s scheduled Fatal 4-Way which would have seen him take on Johnny Impact, Taiji Ishimori and Rey Fenix. At this time, Swann is not in Toronto for the show and is resting at home in Florida.

No replacement has been named as of yet, however it was also noted that the plan as of yesterday was for Petey Williams to be the man taking Swann’s spot. It’s also possible the bout could be switched to a Triple Threat instead, however that seems less likely.

*SPOILERS* Title Change At Last Night’s Ring Of Honor TV Tapings

Published

on

Following Friday evening’s big Honor For All event in Nashville, Tennessee, Ring Of Honor was at Center Stage in Atlanta, Georgia last night for a set of television tapings.

Among the matches scheduled for the show was a ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Title match in which Cody and The Young Bucks challenged The Kingdom. Matt Taven, TK O’Ryan and Vinny Marseglia had won the championships at the War Of The Worlds Tour event in Lowell, Massachusetts back on May 9th, defeating So Cal Uncensored. While their reign was only at 74 days, last night’s match saw the crowning of new champions.

This is the first time Cody has held the titles and now the second time Matt and Nick Jackson have held the ROH World Six-Man Titles, previously carrying the championships along with Hangman Page as The Hung Bucks. The Young Bucks are also currently the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Champions along with ‘The Villain’ Marty Scurll, collectively known as The Super Villains.
