When it was revealed this past Tuesday that popular WWE NXT faction SAnitY would be joining the SmackDown Live brand, many fans’ excitement was quickly met with surprise when it was realized that Nikki Cross would not be joining Eric Young, Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe on the blue brand.
The Wrestling Observer is reporting that it is not an indictment of Nikki, but more to help the NXT Women’s Division on the heels of Ember Moon, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce all being brought to the main roster. It was also speculated that current champion Shayna Baszler is in need of a feud since Moon’s departure and that challenger could be Nikki Cross.
EA’s Take: I can actually buy into this. NXT is loaded with females that have potential, but it’s just that…potential. Billie & Peyton had been off of TV after getting some “additions”, so after the Superstar Shake-Up you’re really only having to replace Ember on your roster. I don’t see anyone that’s strong enough character-wise to give Shayna a good opponent outside of Kairi Sane. The rest of the girls just need more time. As for how this affects SAnitY, I do think Nikki added a great deal to that group. My hope is that she fills a gap in NXT and then rejoins them on the main roster within the next year.
