Rumor On WWE Commentary Change

Published

on

Dave Meltzer says that the WWE is big into creating diversity with their commentary teams. They understand that their product hits several different demographics.

The point being, according to Meltzer the company is looking to bring in a Woman to do color commentary. It is unknown for which show at this time, however Smackdown Live and Raw currently share Corey Graves.

Beth Phoenix has been speculated to be a candidate. She recently worked on the WWE Mixed Match Challenge and also did commentary for the Wrestlemania Women’s Battle Royal.

Lita who called the Mae Young Classic is another name that has been speculated. Also it was reported some time ago that the company had considered Renee Young for a role on commentary.

Results of the fifth match of WWE NXT Takeover War Games, Undisputed Era members Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and NXT Tag Team Champions Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong battled WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne, NXT North American Champion Ricochet, and War Raiders in WAR GAMES!

NXT TakeOver WarGames II

Undisputed Era members Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong enter the two-ring, steel cage structure against Pete Dunne, Ricochet, and War Raiders members Rowe and Hansen in the closing match at WWE NXT Takeover War Games!

  • Adam Cole would be the first entrant into War Games, as the announcers quoted Arn Anderson talking about the importance of the  order of entry. Really it was because he needed the platform to go “Adam Cole BAY BAY!”
  • NXT North American Champion Ricochet would be the second entrant into War Games, and would spend 5-minutes inside the rings with Cole.
  • Kyle O’Reilly entered War Games third, giving Undisputed Era the advantage for three minutes.
  • The fourth entrant into War Games was Hanson, who jumped in front of Pete Dunne. Hanson evened the odds for Ricochet, who was taking a beating from the former Future Shock.
  • Roderick Strong, who teamed with Raw Tag Team Champions The AOP in last year’s War Games, was the fifth entrant into War Games, giving the Undisputed Era the 3-minute advantage once again.
  • Rowe entered War Games sixth, once again keeping Dunne in the shark cage.
  • During this segment of War Games, the babyfaces isolated Adam Cole and did as much damage as possible before Bobby Fish entered the match.
  • Bobby Fish was the seventh entrant into War Games, once again giving Undisputed Era the advantage for a final three minutes. Before heading to the ring, Fish attacked Pete Dunne, locking him into the shark cage and keeping the key.
  • Fish brought four Undisputed Era labeled chairs with him into the ring.
  • Pete Dunne was able to enter the match thanks to a set of bolt cutters, but didn’t enter until after filling the ring with plunder (including multiple tables).
  • Once Pete Dunne entered, The Match Beyond began (I don’t care what the announcers said!).
  • Dunne was able to survive a double submission move from O’Reilly and Strong (the NXT Tag Team Champions) as Ricochet broke through Cole and Fish to make the save.
  • After one of the most creative Tower Of Doom spots I’ve ever seen, Ricochet hit a double-rotation Moonsault off of the top of the cage onto the seven other competitors.
  • In one of the most well-done War Games things I’ve ever seen, both teams lined up at opposite sides of the cage, marching towards each other as if they were “marching into battle,” meeting between the two rings to pair off and trade blows.
  • Pete Dunne connected with the Bitter End on Adam Cole, followed by a 450 Splash from Ricochet, and both men draped their arms over Cole for the three count and win for the babyface team.

WWE NXT Takeover War Games Tommaso Ciampa Velveteen Dream NXT

Results of the fourth match of WWE NXT Takeover War Games, Tommaso Ciampa vs. Velveteen Dream for the NXT Championship!

NXT TakeOver WarGames II

Velveteen Dream challenged Tommaso Ciampa for his NXT Championship under the bright lights of Los Angeles at WWE NXT Takeover War Games!

  • Velveteen Dream made his entrance first, emulating the NWO’s Hollywood Hogan with his attire and entrance.
  • During both his entrance and the announcements, Tommaso Ciampa repeatedly kissed the nameplate on his NXT Championship.
  • Ciampa would steal Dream’s “Hollywood” headband, then do the Hogan Ear Cusp, which elicited a huge round of boos from the crowd. Dream would get his headband back, not not after doing the Macho Man throat dive over the top rope and Macho Man double ax-handle off the top.
  • Velveteen Dream would later suplex Tommaso Ciampa over the top rope, sending both men crashing to the floor, doing damage to both competitors.
  • The referee would avoid an errant kick from Dream and catch Ciampa pulling the tights in a roll-up that would have otherwise ended the match.
  • Soon after, Tommaso Ciampa would complete a barrage of offense with a Project Ciampa, but Dream kicked out at two.
  • Dream would hit the Swinging Spike DDT on the NXT Championship, which Ciampa brought into the ring. Ciampa himself would then kick out at two.
  • Late in the match we’d see Ciampa take a shot at Mauro Ranallo, which allowed Dream to take the advantage and eventually connect with the Purple Rainmaker… for two.
  • A short time later, Ciampa would score the pinfall to retain his championship after hitting a Draping DDT on the metal sheet connecting the two rings.
