Ja’ Von’s Weekly IMPACT Wrestling YouTube Report (7/12/18)

Published

on

IMPACT Wrestling this week featured oVe in a six man lucha rules tag match and Su Yung terrorizing Madison Rayne in the show closing segment.

Just yesterday I reported that the viewership for this week’s IMPACT was down this week after bouncing back from a viewership slump. You can check that out here.

Here is the breakdown for this week’s YouTube Report:

  1. Austin Aries ASSAULTS Ex-NFLer DeAngelo Williams: 89K views
  2. King Issues a Slammiversary Challenge to LAX: 5150 STREET FIGHT: 77K views
  3. Sami Callihan & oVe vs Pentagon Jr, Fenix, & Rich Swann: 73K views
  4. The Twisted Saga of Eddie Edwards & Tommy Dreamer: 64K views
  5. Who is this Mysterious Knockout?: 33K views

This is very telling because we live in a day and age where people just go on YouTube or other streaming services to watch wrestling and other things. What surprises me is that the DeAngelo Williams segment is the top draw of the week. When DeAngelo was first announced, I didn’t think anything of it, but when watching it this week, it turned out to be a really good segment. This segment added another layer to the main event for Slammiversary, plus DeAngelo has challenged Aries to a match.

The LAX Civil War takes the second spot this week after coming in at the top spot last week. The OGz quickly dispatched of their opponents and King laid down the challenge to LAX for a 5150 Street Fight. The highly touted main event from this week’s Impact comes in at number three. The six man tag was everything and had people on the edge of their seats. My favorite spot of the match was the super cutter from Jake Crist to Rich Swann. The Twisted Saga of Eddie Edwards has now taken a drastic turn involving Tommy Dreamer. Eddie had now set his sights on Tommy now. Impact has been showing vignettes of a new Knockout coming soon for the past two weeks it seems like the gimmick will be surrounding a James Bond-esque gimmick.

WWE News: Two NXT Superstars Get New Ring Names

Published

on

With the WWE recently holding a big set of tryouts that included some familiar names (for more on that go here), on top of recently signing more names such as Io Shirai and Deonna Purrazzo, the pool for NXT continues to grow deeper seemingly by the week.

Two of the more known names the company brought in over the past year, Donovan Dijak and Chad Lail, have been rarely seen, if at all yet, on NXT television. Dijak, the 31-year old, 5-year pro was a top name on the independents and a rising star for Ring Of Honor, winning the promotion’s Top Prospect Tournament in 2015 before reporting to the Performance Center last August. Lail, a 36-year old, 17-year veteran was of course best known for his time in TNA as Gunner, from 2010-2015 where he was a one-time Television Champion and one-time Tag Team Champion (alongside James Storm).

We’ve seen Dijak with a couple of appearances on NXT TV over the past couple of months under the name Chris Dijak, most recently in a losing effort to The Velveteen Dream last week (go here for Mitchell’s NXT Report). Meanwhile, Lail debuted at a Live Event last June, but then did not debut on television until this May. He did however, have a role in the movie Game Night released this February, starring Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams. Since, he has been frequently working Live Events, usually with Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake, known as The Forgotten Sons.

In an indication that bigger roles on-screen could be around the corner, WWE has posted a photo gallery of every Performance Center recruit and are now listing Chad Lail as Jaxson Ryker and Chris Dijak as Dominik Dijakovic. You can check out the entire gallery here.
