WWE News: Deonna Purrazzo Reportedly Signs WWE Contract

Today, Squared Circle Sirens is reporting and reportedly confirming that WWE has signed Deonna Purrazzo to a developmental contract. Purrazzo is scheduled to report to the Performance Center in the coming weeks.

Purrazzo is no stranger to WWE and the WWE Universe though. She has made appearances on RAW, SmackDown and NXT since 2014 where she would appear as a rosebud for former WWE Superstar Adam Rose. She would then go on to compete in NXT on multiple occasions, facing the likes of Nia Jax, Bayley, Asuka and Emma among others. Just last year, she was selected as an alternate for the inaugural Mae Young Classic and even competed in a dark match on night two of the tournament.

Purrazzo also was a fixture of women’s wrestling in Ring Of Honor, helping to revamp Women Of Honor. It was in her debut match against Mandy Leon back in July of 2015 in Balitmore, Maryland where they tore the house down and jump-started what was to come in WOH. Most recently, she competed in the the WOH Championship tournament making it to the quarterfinals before being eliminated by Mayu Iwatani.

Purrazzo also made multiple appearances for Impact Wrestling between 2014 and 2017. She would make her debut for the company back in May of 2014 during their television tapings, losing to Brooke Adams. She would then go on to compete against the likes of Madison Rayne, Brooke, Laurel Van Ness and even in a #1 contender’s gauntlet match.

Here accomplishments include:

  • 1-time DCW Women’s Champion
  • 1-time ECWA Women’s Champion
  • 2-time ECWA Super 8 ChickFight Tournament (2015, 2016)
  • 1-time and current GCW Women’s Champion

Ja’ Von’s Take: WWE has been on a signing spree as of late with all the news of them approaching MCW wrestlers, and the signing of top Japanese wrestler Io Shirai. The recent signing of Deonna Purrazzo to NXT is another big signing and huge addition to an already impressive women’s division. I would have to say and many would agree with me on this that this is the best the NXT Women’s Division has been since 2015.
