AXS TV Denies Being Involved With Reported Upstart Promotion

Published

on

As we noted earlier, a new report has surfaced today stating that current IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho has been working with WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross on starting a new wrestling promotion with Barry Bloom and backed by Jacksonville Jaguars’ Owner Shad Khan (see the whole story here).

It was said that AXS TV, who currently is the home to New Japan Pro Wrestling and the upcoming WOW-Women Of Wrestling in January, was already in talks with the promotion and an executive was working to “fast track” a deal. The promotion which reportedly already has Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks and Hangman Page on board, was reportedly eyeing a late-2019/early-2020 broadcast date.

Now, WrestlingInc is reporting that after speaking with a representative from AXS TV about the project, they replied with, “There’s no truth to the AXS TV component”. It was noted that they couldn’t confirm Chris Jericho or Jim Ross’ involvement, but AXS TV is said to be “very committed” to NJPW and has some big plans for them in 2019.
