UFC News: Dana White Says Brock Lesnar Interested In Jon Jones Fight

Published

on

Over the weekend at UFC 225 in Chicago, Illinois, TMZ Sports caught up with UFC President Dana White (as seen in the video above) and inquired about the status of current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. ‘The Beast Incarnate’ is still under some sort of contract with WWE, reportedly ending after SummerSlam on August 19th.

White would state that he was under that same belief:

“Brock’s WWE deal is up at the end of the Summer I think and I know he wants to fight. So I’m sure we’ll end up getting that figured out.”

When asked who he’d like to see ‘The Beast Incarnate’ fight in the octagon, White would reply that there’s interest from both sides on a Jon Jones vs. Brock Lesnar bout:

“Obviously there’s a lot of options. You know, Jon Jones is very interested in Brock Lesnar and Brock’s very interested in Jon Jones.”

EA’s Take: From everything we’ve reported and heard so far, it’s all making sense and seeming more like Brock’s got one foot out of the WWE door. Then again, we’ve been through this rigmarole before and it wasn’t even that long ago. Even if Brock’s heading back to UFC, how much longer can he really do it for at his age? I’d imagine it would be another short-term thing, but I will say this, even I would be interested in seeing a Lesnar vs. Jones fight. I used to be a UFC fan a long time ago now, but if you want me to tune in, that’ll do pig.

WWE News: RAW Rating Sees Slight Uptick, Reclaims #1 Ranking (8/13/18)

Published

on

The road to this coming Sunday’s SummerSlam continued last night with the final edition of Monday Night RAW before the big event. The red brand has been on a pretty good streak in the ratings over the past few weeks, even with a small decrease in viewers last week. So how did last night’s show do?

The numbers are now in and last night’s RAW that saw the return of Dean Ambrose, as well as a vicious attack by Brock Lesnar against Roman Reigns had a minor ratings increase from last week with a 2.825. While this is only a .74% increase over last week, it’s an increase nonetheless. Here’s how the red brand has done in the ratings the past four weeks:

  • July 23rd: 2.779
  • July 30th: 2.901
  • August 6th: 2.804
  • August 13th: 2.825

Last week’s RAW also saw the show drop slightly in the Cable Top 150 Rankings for the 18-49 demographic, however last night they jumped back into the number one spot:

  1. Monday Night RAW (9PM) – USA Network – 0.98
  2. *TIE* Monday Night RAW (8PM)/Love & Hip Hop Hollywood – 0.97
  3. Monday Night RAW (10PM) – USA Network – 0.95
  4. Teen Mom 2 Reunion – MTV – 0.69

EA’s Take: Such a small increase in ratings this week makes it really difficult to tell what exactly made the difference. While SummerSlam is certainly one of the more anticipated WWE pay-per-views every year, I think it’s been a little 50/50 for fans this year. At least on Twitter anyways, which isn’t always the best gauge on how people overall feel (because there’s way more negativity than you’ll get with the general public that includes your casuals). You can’t really pin the increase on Lesnar because while those in-the-know were aware he was scheduled, he was not advertised. Same goes for Dean Ambrose’s return, which some fans really lost their metaphorical s*** over (I am NOT one of them). I’m more interested to see what WWE can do as we head into the Fall season, which is again usually when we hit another lull before the calendar turns over and things begin ramping up for next year’s Royal Rumble. I’m also wondering if we get a bunch of NXT call-ups next week, which we’ve seen after SummerSlam in the past. Personally, I’m hoping not because the company never seems to have any long-terms plans for these. Just look at everyone brought up after WrestleMania back in April.

WWE News: Sin Cara Dealing With Injury, Possibly Facing Surgery

Published

on

Following an injury to SmackDown Live Superstar Tye Dillinger at a Live Event over the weekend (read about that here), today it looks like another WWE Superstar from the blue brand is dealing with an ailment of some sort.

Sin Cara has revealed via Instagram Story that he’s down in Birmingham, Alabama, which is of course where Dr. Jeffrey Dugas is located and where nearly all of the company’s performers go when there’s a likely surgery in their future:

Sin Cara has not competed since August 5th at a Live Event in Albany, Georgia when he defeated Aiden English. While there are no details on what exactly Sin Cara is dealing with, the fact that he is even in Birmingham is generally not a good sign. The Chairshot will provide further updates as they become available.
