WWE News: Two Interesting WWE-Related Trademarks Filed

Published

on

Recently, WWE got fans talking with a trademark filing for the NWO (you can read that here) which immediately led to rumors of a possible new incarnation or return for the legendary faction that helped WCW explode into prominence in the Summer of 1996. Today, there’s more interesting news on the trademark front, but this time the filings weren’t made by WWE.

PWInsider is reporting two new trademarks that many would consider to be WWE terminology, so to speak. First, Tatevik The Gamer who wrestles out of California has filed to trademark “Sister Abigail” back on June 5th. Of course, WWE fans have known this to be synonymous with Bray Wyatt as it’s the name of his finisher, as well as dead/imaginary sister. There were also plans for it to be an alternate personality of Wyatt last October at TLC, however Wyatt had to be pulled due to an illness.

Below is the trademark listing that was filed. It should be noted that WWE has not trademarked the Sister Abigail name:

“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer¬†also for wrestling purposes.”

Additionally, three days later on June 8th¬†the KBN Inc. Corporation Nevada, based out of Las Vegas, has filed for the trademark “Halloween Havoc” with the following listings:

“T-shirts; Baseball caps and hats; Clothing for wear in wrestling games; Graphic T-shirts.”

“Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services in the nature of a wrestling club; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network.”

There’s also a logo associated with the filings, which you may recognize:

WWE News: Who Was Behind Ronda Rousey/Bella Twins’ Lines On RAW?

Published

on

While everything WWE does always has its naysayers, the overall sentiment coming out of this week’s episode of RAW was that the segment between RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and The Bella Twins, building to Ronda’s match against Nikki at Evolution, was the best part of the broadcast.

The segment not only had social media talking, but also gained massive numbers on YouTube (see EA’s Weekly RAW YouTube Report here) as the banter between Ronda and The Bellas was more of the “worked shoot” variety and utilized elements of real life in their words. This will likely come as no surprise to many fans, but The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the man behind the segment was none other than Paul Heyman, however Ronda actually wrote the promo herself.

It’s being said that Heyman has been producing segments with Ronda lately due to their familiarity with one another and this past Monday that included giving her key parts to focus on. For example, the lines Rousey used that got the WWE Universe talking about “John Cena’s bedroom” were from Heyman. Additionally, Heyman worked with The Bellas as well, giving them their lines regarding the Divas era.

As has been noted, Heyman began working more in a backstage role for the company leading up to what was believed to be Brock Lesnar’s departure at SummerSlam in August. Currently, it’s not known when Heyman will be back on television as he has not been confirmed for Lesnar’s next match against Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman for the Universal Title at Crown Jewel on November 2nd.

New NWA National Heavyweight Title Is Unveiled

Published

on

Coming up this Sunday at the Nashville Fairgrounds, also known as the TNA Asylum, the National Wrestling Alliance will present its 70th Anniversary show that also will air live on FITE.

Among the big matches for Sunday’s card will be a tournament to crown a brand new NWA National Heavyweight Champion, as the title is being reprised. The previous incarnation of the NWA National Heavyweight Title began with its inaugural champion Austin Idol in 1980 and was deactivated in 1986. The championship would be revived in 1997 until last September when the promotion terminated the contracts with all of its licensees.

The title now has a new lease on life however, as Jay Bradley, Ricky Starks, Mike Parrow and Willie Mack battle in one Fatal 4-Way at NWA’s 70th. In another, Colt Cabana will meet Scorpio Sky, Sam Shaw and Sammy Guevara, then winners of both Fatal 4-Ways square-off later in the show to crown the next NWA National Heavyweight Champion. The prize can be seen in the video above as the NWA posted a look at the new championship:

WWE News: Spoiler On Shawn Michaels’ Next RAW Appearance

Published

on

Even with all of the controversy surrounding WWE’s Crown Jewel event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 2nd, the show is proceeding as planned and will feature the in-ring return of one of the unquestioned all-time greats, ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels.

Michaels has not competed since being retired by The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVI in 2010, but steps back into the squared circle alongside Triple H as the newly reunited D-Generation X looking for a modicum of revenge against the aforementioned ‘Deadman’ and Kane, The Brothers Of Destruction. With such a big match on the horizon, you would think Michaels would be appearing more on Monday Night RAW to build to the match, but that was not the case this past week.

Today, PWInsider reports they have confirmed ‘HBK’ will be in the house when RAW heads to Providence, Rhode Island this coming Monday to do just that, build to the match at Crown Jewel. There is still the Monday Night RAW following that on October 29th from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina and while it’s believed Michaels will be on-hand, that has not been confirmed at this time.
