WWE Rumors: Japanese Star Possibly Participating In Mae Young Classic

Published

on

With the WWE Universe squarely setting their sights on all the action this weekend in Rosemont, Illinois at the Allstate Arena for NXT TakeOver: Chicago II and Money In The Bank, there’s also the United Kingdom Championship Tournament next Monday and Tuesday from the famed Royal Albert Hall in London, England.

Following the United Kingdom Championship Tournament, the next special on the WWE Network is expected to be the second annual installment of the Mae Young Classic after the first took place last July, later airing in August and September. While no specific details on the tournament have been made official as of yet, it’s believed that the tournament will once again be taped at Full Sail University some time in June.

We also don’t yet know who will be joining this year’s field for the Mae Young Classic, however TokyoSports is reporting that Japanese star Meiko Satomura could be joining in. It was also noted that TokyoSports reached out to Satomura for comment, but she reiterated that nothing’s official yet.

Meiko Satomura is a 38-year old, 22-year veteran who has competed for the likes of Gaea Japan, Chikara and Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling. She also made appearances for World Championship Wrestling in 1996-97 when Gaea had a working relationship with the company. Among her accolades are two-time AAAW Singles Champion (Gaea), one-time Sendai Girls’ World Champion, as well as a winner of Chikara’s King Of Trios Tournament in 2016.

WWE Rumors: Speculation On WWE Signing Chelsea Green

Published

on

Since taking part in a WWE tryout at the Performance Center in Orlando back in July, many fans have seemingly been awaiting news that Chelsea Green, also known as Reklusa in Lucha Underground and formerly Laurel Van Ness of IMPACT Wrestling, has signed with the company.

Last week, there was talk that Chelsea had finally put her name on a WWE contract after a report by Twitter user @SoDuTw stated that she had signed and was already at the Performance Center. However, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is disputing that today, reporting that Green’s presence at the Performance Center was just to train. It should also be noted that anyone who follows her social media accounts has taken notice that she frequents the Orlando area, which is where her boyfriend and WWE Superstar Zack Ryder reside.

Currently, there is no word when or if Green could be signed by the company, as it was also believed to happen shortly after the July tryout when she was pulled from an IPW show (see that story here). At that time, the speculation was the she would be taking part in this year’s Mae Young Classic, but of course that was not the case.

EA’s Take: Last I knew, if you’re under a Lucha Underground contract you’re not allowed to sign somewhere else. Therefore, I don’t think we will be seeing Chelsea in the WWE anytime soon if it happens, at least until this season of LU wraps up. If I’m remembering correctly, talents appearing on LU programming, even if their contract is expired, are not able to sign with another promotion until the season that’s airing concludes. That’s only if she’s signed on for one season as well, which is most likely since season five is seemingly not official just yet.

Published

on

The following press release was issued to The Chairshot today via Matt Farmer which provides updates on DEFY Wrestling’s upcoming events including ‘Dia de los Muertos’ on Saturday, October 27th:

DEFY WRESTLING HAS THREE HUGE UPCOMING EVENTS

Día de los Muertos starts earlier this year with DEFY Wrestling’s return to Seattle Washington Saturday, October 27th to the historic Washington Hall!

This event features some of the best wrestlers from Mexico competing with some of the best wrestlers internationally and locally. It’s topped by two Championship matches as reigning DEFY Champion Shane “Swerve” Strickland faces his biggest challenge to date, with the Baddest Man in professional wrestling, SCHAFF! New DEFY Tag Team Champions, the Amerikan Gunz, Mike Santiago and Ethan HD will defend their crowns for their first time against two of Mexico’s hottest free agents. The phenomenal luchadors Flamita and Bandido! Bandido recently wowed fans internationally for his appearance in the main event of ALL IN teaming with the legendary Rey Mysterio!

October 27th we will also see the Olympian Jeff Cobb go one-on-one with the monstrous Brody King! These are two of wrestling’s hardest hitting men squaring off in a match that both men and fans alike have salivated over. Spencer has wowed DEFY crowds since his debut with the company nearly a year ago and has risen to be one of the local favorites. This match has the potential to be one of the best of the evening!

Speaking of local favorites, Seattle’s favorite hero. The Weirdo Hero, Ravenous Randy Myers who is loved by all will take on the brash Maxwell Jacob Friedman. MJF as he is better known is one of wrestling’s fastest rising stars, and he is the first to tell the world about. As was evidence from his recent appearance on the recent Stone Cold Steve Austin’s podcast!

These matches and more will be hosted by 99.9 KISW’s Steve Migs of the BJ & Migs morning show!
