Extreme Rules Results: SmackDown Women’s Championship

After returning at Money In The Bank last month to aid Carmella in retaining her SmackDown Women’s Title, James Ellsworth spent the past handful of weeks tormenting ‘The Empress Of Tomorrow’ Asuka.

After Asuka finally was able to hand Ellsworth a defeat last week on SmackDown Live, she could fully focus on gaining the championship tonight at Extreme Rules as Ellsworth was suspended out of the way, above the ring inside a shark cage. Despite the obstacle, ‘The Princess Of Staten Island’ would call to Ellsworth multiple times during the match for him to drop down some “goodies”, including a steel chain, but the plans seemed to always backfire.

As the challenger punished Carmella on the outside, the resourceful Ellsworth would pick the lock to the shark cage and get free, but get stuck hanging upside-down while trying to climb out. Asuka would unload, however the ring crew would call for the cage to be lowered to free Ellsworth up. ‘The Empress Of Tomorrow’ was having none of it, tossing the ring crew aside to do more damage to Ellsworth before the referee backed her off. Carmella would take advantage, sneaking in behind Asuka and pushing her face-first into the cage to retain.

‘The Princess Of Staten Island’ would escape to the back with her championship, forgetting about Ellsworth who was left to take a beating by the furious Asuka.
