WWE Rumors: Omega, Cody & Young Bucks Reportedly Set To Get Offers From WWE

Since the recent clash on Street Fighter V between WWE Superstars The New Day and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s The Elite, the rumor mill surrounding a possible jump to the WWE by Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks has been loaded to say the least.

WWE has only fueled those flames as well, promoting the video game battle between the two groups, posting a seldom-seen clip of Kenny Omega while in Deep South Wrestling on the WWE Network and even following The Young Bucks on Twitter briefly. Many fans have seen these as signs of the parties all finally coming together, especially with Kenny’s NJPW contract set to expire at the end of January next year, while The Young Bucks also reportedly only have six months remaining on their deals with Ring Of Honor.

According to The Wrestling Observer, WWE is fully prepared to make offers to Omega, The Young Bucks and former WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes by the end of 2018 because “WWE wants to eliminate competition”. Additionally, it’s being said the company was hinted that the company could be tossing them all big money offers. This sentiment was also echoed by the WrestleVotes Twitter account:

EA’s Take: Per usual with The Observer, I’m sure this is a nice margarita blended with truth and a bit of falsity. As far as I know, WWE can’t approach anybody under contract or else it opens them up to a potential lawsuit, as we’ve seen in the past with TNA and the recent rumors they offered contracts to people already signed to MLW (check that out here). Therefore (and I’m sure somebody will correct me if I’m wrong here), the only way Cody, Omega or The Bucks would be getting any kind of offers from WWE by the end of 2018, they would have to be the ones to make that phone call, so to speak. Personally, it’s going to take a lot of concessions to get The Young Bucks just by themselves, both creatively, with the schedule and monetarily. Is WWE finally willing to make such decisions? Plus, NJPW’s new President is really putting an emphasis on growing outside of Japan, so who’s to say he’s not willing to really pony up the dough either? Quite honestly, WWE would live on without any of these guys, no matter what anybody says. Would it be awesome to see as a fan? In the words of Steve Austin, “Oh hell yeah!”. However, we’ve thought before there was a chance and yet, here we still are. At the end of the day, it’s all speculation until they actually show up on WWE programming.

Mitchell’s AEW Continental Classic Update! (11/27/23)

What a start to the tournament!

Did your picks win points?

The AEW Continental Classic is underway, with almost everyone competing. Check in here if you haven’t seen the winners and losers of week 1!

Here are your Gold League standings!

  • Jon Moxley: 1-0, 3 points
  • Swerve Strickland: 1-0, 3 points
  • Jay White: 1-0, 3 points
  • Rush: 0-1, 0 points
  • Mark Briscoe: 0-1, 0 points.
  • Jay Lethal: 0-1, 0 points

Here are your Blue League standings!

  • Brody King: 1-0, 3 points
  • Claudio Castagnoli: 1-0, 3 points
  • Daniel Garcia: 0-1, 0 points
  • Eddie Kingston: 0-1, 0 points
  • Bryan Danielson: Yet to Compete
  • Andrade El Idolo: Yet to Compete

My Thoughts:

Nothing too crazy, nothing too wild, this tournament only just got started. The only disappointing point is that they could not get Bryan “cleared to compete” Saturday night. Not sure how much of that is shoot given the bad eye, but this was kinda the problem of wanting him in the tournament over tons of other choices. Bryan wants to face Okada for WrestleKingdom 18, how is Bryan supposed to do that at his best if he’s also gonna be in a round robin, doing five top level matches in about as many weeks? And it takes away from Andrade being able to do something. Also a little surprised we didn’t even hear from Andrade on Saturday.

Now as we heard on Saturday, round two’s matches are set. Gold League will see Mark Briscoe VS Rush, White VS Swerve, and of course, Moxley VS Lethal. Nice variety there, a couple 0-1 guys facing off, as well as two 1-0 guys, and then 1-0 VS 0-1. No offense to Lethal, but he feels like an 0-2 going up against Moxley. Hard to call the other ones but that’s the fun of it. Meanwhile, Blue League sees Brody VS Claudio in a showdown to be 2-0, then Bryan and Andrade finally jump in, Bryan against Eddie and Andrade against Garcia. Sadly, feels like Eddie and Garcia are going 0-2, no way Tony Khan is booking Bryan and Andrade to lose their first shots.

In fact, that could be half the reason they did wait on those two, that’s almost too good for just a first round opener. But I still would’ve done it, same as NJPW does stuff like that for round robins, which this is all modeled after anyway.
