Chairshot Classics: WWE SummerSlam 2014

Up next is our package for the Stephanie McMahon/Brie Bella match. This is a package that shows a lot of the same things from the earlier video. It all started with a slap at the PayBack PPV, from Stephanie to Daniel Bryan. Brie would then be attendance at RAW and Stephanie would slap he after Brie calls he a bitch. This leads to Stephanie being arrested for assault. Stephanie then offers to rehire Brie if she drops the charges. Brie agrees under one condition, a match versus her at SummerSlam. As much as you hate her you know Stephanie McMahon has had some great runs as a Heel. “The Principal Owner of WWE” Stephanie McMahon enters first in a leather bodysuit. I must admit this may be the best Stephanie ever looked. Regardless of that, she gets nothing but heat from the fans. Except the women in the front row that she throws the “Four Horseman” hand gesture at. This is because it is what was once known as the “Four Horsewomen of MMA.” They are Ronda Rousey, Jessamyn Duke, Marina Shafir and Shayna Bazler. You almost have to wonder if this was a pitch to the women to join the company. Two of the four are at the top of the Women’s division as I write this. Bazler is the NXT Women’s Champion and Ronda will soon be the RAW Women’s Champion following this year’s SummerSlam. The crowd pops when Brie Bella makes her way to the ring. It is worth noting that this was a match that is highly choreographed and that Stephanie and Brie worked hard to plan every move.

The collar and elbow starts it off, and Steph drives Brie into the corner. Steph uses the full five count of the official before she separates. They collar and elbow once more and Stephanie drives Brie into the ropes this time. The ref is forced to break them up once more and they try a collar and elbow a third time. Brie comes out ahead and takes McMahon to the mat with an arm drag. A waistlock is next from Brie but Stephanie escapes it with an elbow to the side of Brie’s head. She then drives Brie into the corner with shoulder blocks before tossing her to the mat. Stephanie continues the offensive and after some more elbow strikes, she tosses Brie to the mat by her hair. Stephanie then gets the crowd going with “YES” chants but this allows Brie to grab her arm and try for a “Yes Lock”. Stephanie manages to wiggle free and roll from the ring. Brie then goes for a suicide dive but when she comes through the ropes she is met with the knee of Stephanie McMahon. Stephanie returns to the ring and tells the ref to start the count. He makes it to seven before Brie is able to make it back in the ring. Soon as she enters Stephanie meets her with a DDT. Steph tries for a cover, but Brie kicks out.

A short armed clothesline is next from Stephanie and she drags Brie around the ring by her hair saying “Who’s my bitch?” A seated snapmare follows and Steph tries for another pin. This one is closer but Brie Bella still kicks out. McMahon then drives her foot into Brie’s back and starts to stretch her. This goes on for some time and when Brie finally stands up, Stephanie whips her right back to the mat by her hair. Stephanie goes for a spear, but it is countered by a Lou Thesz press from Brie. She unloads some punches and the crowd is starting to pop. Brie lands a back elbow and tosses McMahon into the corner. She starts with the Yes Kicks and the crowd is soon chanting along. She then tosses Steph to the mat by her hair before putting her in another corner and resuming the Yes Kicks. Brie tosses Stephanie to the mat by her hair and takes to the top rope. She hits the missile dropkick, but Steph is able to kick out of the cover attempt. This is when Triple H enters, but Nikki Bella isn’t too far behind. Hunter is on the apron and is arguing with Brie. When Brie turns around Stephanie tries for a Pedigree. This is revered and Brie takes Stephanie to the mat with a Yes Lock. Just when it looks as she may tap out Triple H pulls the ref from the ring. This is when Brie hits Hunter with a baseball slide. Nikki now enters the ring and Stephanie is pleading for mercy. She starts to back up but is met by Brie Bella. This is when we get an unexpected Heel turn and Nikki turns on Brie. She shoves Steph from harms way and attacks her sister. She helps Stephanie up and leaves the ring. Stephanie hits The Pedigree and hooks the leg for the 1,2,3. Decent match with an ending that no one could have seen coming. Check it out. Match Time-11:06

We see the video for Totino’s Gold “Show us your Superstar”. This was a competition for a fan to win a chance visit the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. A Man named Mama’s Boy was the winner and this is basically a pizza pocket commercial.

After this, we hear “The Voices” and “The Apex Predator” Randy Orton enters the arena. This is a feud that started when Orton attacked Roman Reigns claiming he cost him the World Title. This was a normal Viper attack that ended with an RKO through the table. Orton gets a typical Heel response from the fans, The Big Dog, on the other hand, gets a decent pop as he enters through the crowd. After a stare down, Reigns strikes first and knocks Orton into the corner. Orton is quick to kick his way out of it and whip Reigns into the ropes. Roman counters it with a headbutt that leaves Orton rolling from the ring. When Roman joins him out there the Viper strikes first with a kick to the midsection. They trade some punches before returning to the ring to do the same. Reigns gets the advantage and uses a wristlock to get Orton into the corner. He tries for a ten count but Orton is able to shove him off. Reigns maintains the advantage and uses a clothesline to send Orton to the outside. Reigns joins him out there but when he tries to whip Orton into the stairs it is reversed and Reigns collides with them instead. Orton returns him to the ring and when Roman kicks the cover out, Orton applies a headlock. Reigns manages to stand this up and escape with some punches to the midsection. Orton doesn’t let momentum build, and whips Roman to the mat by his hair. We see vintage Orton here as he stomps the appendages of Roman Reigns. When he tries for his high jumping knee drop Reigns rolls from harms way. Reigns is whipped to the corner but when Orton comes running he is met by the big boot of Roman. Reigns climbs to the second turnbuckle but is met by some punches from Orton. Orton then joins him up there and superplexs Roman to the mat. He rolls over for the cover put Roman is quick to get a shoulder up.

A side headlock is next from the Apex Predator, and after some time, Roman stands up. They hit the ropes and Reigns leaps onto the back of Orton for a sleeper of his own. Orton drops to the mat and breaks the hold. The hold is broken, but Reigns wastes no time putting it back on. It is stood up again and this time a side suplex from Orton breaks the hold. Another cover from Orton and another kick-out leads to another headlock from The Viper. Reigns escapes with some punches and reverses an Irish whip into a Samoan Drop. This leaves both men prone for a moment and the ref starts to count. Orton strikes first and they trade blows in the center of the ring. Roman comes out ahead and Orton finds himself suspended over the second rope with his head hanging outside. Roman points the finger gun at him and leaves the ring. Reigns comes running and uses the dropkick onto the face of Orton. This is a old move of his where he lands on the apron after. Cool stuff and I wish we could still see this from the Big Dog. Roman tackles Orton into the security Barricade, but when he tries it a second time, it is countered and he is the one tossed into it. Orton returns him to the ring and covers, but Roman is able to kick-out still.

The match goes back to the outside when Orton tosses Roman from the ring. Randy Orton joins him out there and side suplexs him onto the announce table. The Apex Predator then tosses Roman into the ring steps. He returns Roman to the ring, but when Orton gets onto the apron, Reigns hits him with the stun gun over the top rope. They then find their way onto the top rope and Roman tries to return the favor with a superplex of his own. This doesn’t work and Orton knocks him down with a headbutt. Reigns is quick to rejoin him up there and uses a Samoan Drop to slam Orton to the mat. Roman Reigns is slow to make the cover and this allows Orton to kick-out. The fist of Roman is charged up and he strikes the mat. He connects with the Superman Punch and wait in the corner for the Spear. This is countered by one of the best snap scoopslams I’ve ever bared witness to. Roman rolls to the apron and the crowd starts to pop because they know what is next. Orton gives Reigns the rope hung DDT and Cole explodes, proclaiming “Vintage Orton! Vintage Orton!” He gets the crowd fired up and The Viper is coiled for an RKO. Roman shoves him away, though, and hits the ropes. When he leaps for another Superman Punch he is met with an RKO. The building is shaking at this point, and when Roman kicks out of the cover, the top comes off the building. This leaves Orton shocked and he starts to argue with the official over the count. The Viper tries for the Punt kick to the face of Reigns but it is avoided and Roman is able to pull Orton to the mat. They both hit the ropes and Roman Reigns nails The Spear. The crowd count along when he makes the cover and the ref counts the three. This has been the strongest match on the card until this point, but that isn’t really a ringing endorsement. But the match was decent overall and is worth a watch. Match Time- 16:50

Attitude of Aggression

The Attitude Of Aggression returns for another installment of The Big Four Project, a chronological analysis, review, and discussion about WWE’s Big Four PPVs/ Premium Live Events. On this Episode, the guys cover WrestleMania VIII. The era of Hulkamania was drawing to a close and this particular WrestleMania, to a large degree, dealt with that. This epic event at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis in the spring of 1992 saw two unforgettable classic championship matches as Bret “Hitman” Hart sought to recapture the IC title from Rowdy Roddy Piper and “Macho Man” Randy Savage sought to reclaim the WWE Championship from “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. Add in Hulk Hogan’s last match in WWE for roughly 10 months, and the unforgettable return of The Ultimate Warrior, and this Mania was one for the ages, even if much of the undercard was underwhelming. Join us here for all that and much more on another epic installment of The Big Four Project!
