Match #9: Brock Lesnar w/Paul Heyman vs. Randy Orton
The bell rings and Lesnar drives The Viper backwards into the corner, buries shoulders into the midsection, scores with a high knee and hooks him for a german suplex. Orton hangs onto the ropes, fights it off with back elbows, takes Brock off his feet with a dropkick and attempts an RKO. The Beast Incarnate blocks it and plants Randy into the canvas, tosses The Apex Predator with multiple german suplexes, Orton stumbles to the corner and fires off kicks to the midsection, Lesnar jars avoids one and tosses him with another german.

He plants The Viper with a 4th german suplex, Randy again staggers to the corner and uses kicks to the ribs, The Conqueror rams shoulders to the breadbasket to prevent any momentum, throws him with another german suplex, hits knees to the ribs in the corner and begs Orton to fight back. The Beast Incarnate hits another german and The Viper spills to the outside, Lesnar steps out in pursuit, Randy gets in a couple of forearm shots, Brock simply powers him up over his shoulder and plants him onto the SmackDown announce table.

The Apex Predator staggers over the barricade into the front row, Lesnar reaches over, powers him up and tosses him back over through the announce table, then drags him back into the squared circle. The Conqueror totally dominating, connects with another german suplex, kicks Randy under the bottom rope to the floor, rolls out to clear off the RAW announce table, pulls The Viper on top of it and climbs up. He lifts Randy up, The Apex Predator pops up with an RKO on the table, stumbles to the ring and crawls back inside. Lesnar staggers to the apron, steps through the ropes, Orton elevates him over the ropes and spikes him with a DDT.

He gets in position and scores with another RKO, hooks the leg, The Beast Incarnate just kicking out at 2 and Randy measures him for a Punt Kick. Brock explodes to his feet, lifts Orton up for the F5, makes a cover and gets a near fall. The Conqueror takes off the gloves now and mounts The Viper with clubbing shots, Randy getting busted open in the process and laying lifeless. The officials backs Brock off as Orton is pouring out blood, the ringside doctor slides into the ring to attend to him as Lesnar stands back in the corner, pushes the doctor away and goes back to work on The Viper with right hands. The referee finally backs him off again for the doctor to check on Orton, another doctor comes out from the back, The Beast Incarnate jumps back on The Viper with more right hands and the ref calls for the bell to stop the match.
Winner: Brock Lesnar (Referee Stoppage)

  • After The Bell: The Conqueror isn’t done and keeps going back to unload on Orton, Shane McMahon comes down to check on The Viper and Brock cuts him off. They exchange words, The Beast grabs Shane and plants him with an F5, Heyman coming into the ring now and begging Brock to stop.
  • EA’s Take: A lot of people are not going to like the way this ended, but holy cow was Orton bleeding like a siev. This was bloody and violent and honestly, I loved it. I know it’s not what the company wants, but every once in a while I think this kind of brutality is great and something that the product has been missing for a very long time. The best part is, I don’t think this RAW vs. SmackDown stuff is over with Shane-O-Mac taking an F5 at the end. Does it lead to a match between them? I hope not because if Orton gets destroyed by Lesnar, I don’t see how Shane could stand a chance.

EA’s Finisher: As I stated, I’m sure many people will not enjoy how the show ended, but it felt very real and for all we know, Orton could have easily legitimately been concussed there. It certainly will leave people talking, for better or worse. Overall I enjoyed the show, but I do feel as though we really don’t need to have 6 hours worth of wrestling, it’s just too much. The standouts from this event are clearly Styles/Cena which to me was the match of the night by a long-shot, Balor/Rollins certainly impressed, but the crowd was seemingly more interested in booing anytime the Universal Title showed up on screen. Not that I blame them, it is hideous. Charlotte regaining the Women’s Championship was a complete shocker and I’m sure some more details on why exactly that went down will come to light very soon. Unfortunately for some of the other matches, I think placement on the card or just the overall length of the show hurt them, for example Ambrose/Ziggler and Miz/Crews. It reminded me a bit of WrestleMania, which again was just far too long.

Top Three To Watch
1 – AJ Styles vs. John Cena
2 – Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins
3 – Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks

Attitude of Aggression

The Attitude Of Aggression returns for another installment of The Big Four Project, a chronological analysis, review, and discussion about WWE’s Big Four PPVs/ Premium Live Events. On this Episode, the guys cover Survivor Series ’92, an event that saw a radical departure from Survivor Series events of the past. With many top stars having departed the WWE in the Fall of 1992 (or having been fired), the 1992 edition of Survivor Series saw only one traditional Survivor Series match. But it did feature some firsts, such as the first ever televised Coffin Match in PPV history, the first time Mr. Perfect would wrestle a match since Summer Slam ’91, the PPV debuts of Razor Ramon and Yokozuna, and the first of three truly notable battles between Bret “Hitman” Hart and Shawn Michaels. Their match at Survivor Series ’92 was an instant classic and it was so good, that the guys decided to do a watch along here on this Episode! All that plus behind-the-scenes stories and lesser-known factoids the Big Four Project famously delivers time and time again. The Attitude Of Aggression returns for another installment of The Big Four Project, a chronological analysis, review, and discussion about WWE’s Big Four PPVs/ Premium Live Events. On this Episode, the guys cover Summer Slam ’92, the first truly massive overseas PPV for the WWE. In the summer of 1992, the WWE traveled to Wembley Stadium in England and delivered an unforgettable event. Headlined by two epic matches, this was the event that truly made Summer Slam feel more like WrestleMania than ever before. One of the Main Events saw the Macho Man, Randy Savage, defend the WWE Championship against the man who had retired him a year earlier, The Ultimate Warrior. The other Main Event saw Bret “Hitman” Hart defend his IC Championship against hometown hero, The British Bulldog. It ended up being one of the greatest IC title matches in history and here, on this Episode, the guys do a watch-along of that phenomenal battle. All that plus behind-the-scenes stories and lesser-known factoids the Big Four Project famously delivers time and time again.
