TORONTO | LONDON – IMPACT Wrestling has announced two international dream matches for the company’s first live event in the UK in almost three years.

IMPACT returns to Britain with a live show at Wrestling MediaCon 2018 on Sunday, Sept. 9, with tickets on sale NOW from www.ringsideworld.co.uk/wrestling-mediacon-upcoming-events

And the company today revealed two unique marquee matches – pitting IMPACT Wrestling’s top stars against the very best of Britain.

Sami Callihan will take on Jimmy Havoc in a clash of hardcore wrestling icons. Callihan has built a reputation as one of the most disrespectful wrestlers on the planet – attacking management, insulting his peers and almost ending the career of Eddie Edwards in a baseball bat attack. He will face Jimmy Havoc, whose violent and bloody style of wrestling has won him a legion of fans and a collection of championships on the British independent scene.

LAX will put their IMPACT Tag Team Titles on the line in a dream match against two of the UK’s most decorated stars. British high flyers Jody Fleisch and Jonny Storm have won titles all around the world in singles and tag team competition. They will now challenge Santana and Oritz for one of the biggest prizes in professional wrestling today.

Other top IMPACT Wrestling stars confirmed to be part of Wrestling MediaCon 2018 include Eli Drake, Matt Sydal, Trevor Lee, Su Yung, Eddie Edwards, Moose and Rich Swann.

Their matches for the Manchester event will be announced each day on the IMPACT Wrestling UK Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ImpactonSpike. Fans should also follow the Facebook page for details of meet and greets at Wrestling MediaCon 2018.

Fans can watch IMPACT Wrestling every Friday night at 11 p.m. on 5Spike on Freeview, Sky and Virgin Media. The show is also repeated in prime time on Saturdays and Sundays on the recently launched Fight Network, which can be found on Sky Channel 455.

SummerSlam Results: WWE Championship

Published

on

With SmackDown Live already seeing one championship change hands, next up at SummerSlam was the WWE Title match that was no longer just about becoming champion after Samoa Joe brought AJ Styles’ family into the conversation.

With Styles’ wife and daughter sitting ringside, Joe would interrupt the usual championship introductions to point them out and needle ‘The Phenomenal One’ just one final time before the bell. It didn’t seem to phase AJ though, as the pace was slow to begin with the champion trying to get into Joe’s head by using irritating leg kicks. The challenger would start firing back with strikes of his own, utilizing what “brought him to the dance”, but Styles also owns a pretty good striking game and would show that he too could hang.

One mistake by ‘The Phenomenal One’ would give Samoa Joe the opening he needed to control the contest, showing his array of power, high-flying and strong strikes to put the champion in jeopardy. The resilient Styles would of course show the heart that’s allowed him to be the WWE Champion for an extended period of time, coming back to finally score with the Styles Clash, but it still wasn’t enough.

After another big exchange that left both men staggering to their feet, AJ would find his way to getting on the Calf Crusher that was quickly countered into the Coquina Clutch, but the champion was too close to the ropes. Joe’s frustration would start to come through as he called for the Muscle Buster, but AJ would fight it off only to be knocked to the outside by an enzuigiri. After depositing Styles into the steel steps, Joe would grab a mic and proclaim he would be the new daddy of AJ’s wife, sending ‘The Phenomenal One’ into a rage. The match became the last thing on Styles’ mind and he would decimate Joe with a chair, leading to a disqualification.

SummerSlam Results: SmackDown Women’s Championship Match

Published

WWE SummerSlam Carmella vs Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair

After a very quick match between Braun Strowman and Kevin Owens, it was time for the ladies of SmackDown Live to take the ring as Carmella’s SmackDown Women’s Title was up for grabs in a Triple Threat against Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.

While Becky was not pleased that Charlotte got added to the match to begin with, ‘The Princess Of Staten Island’ looked to use that to her advantage by playing the two friends against one another. The strategy worked well for the champion too, as Becky and Charlotte did not hold back on one another with both women fighting hard to obtain the title. Both challengers looked to single out Carmella on multiple occasions, having opportunities to put the match away. However, when one seemingly had victory in hand, the other was right there just in time to put a stop to it.

Carmella would show a side of herself we had yet to see before, pulling off an outside dive to the surprise of the Brooklyn crowd. Charlotte would follow with a twisting moonsault of her own though and from that point on, all three women had chances to win the championship. In the end though, Becky would have Carmella locked in the Dis-Arm-Her, but a Natural Selection from behind gave Charlotte the three count. ‘The Lass Kicker’ would congratulate her friend, but then stunningly slap her across the face and unload on Charlotte with a beat down that included hurling her into the barricade and then over the announce table.

WWE SummerSlam Kevin Owens vs Braun Strowman

The third match of the WWE SummerSlam PPV was a non-traditional “title” match, as Braun Strowman defended the Money In The Bank briefcase against Kevin Owens. By rule, Owens can win the briefcase even if Strowman is counted out or disqualified.
