WWE News: Another Former WWE Superstar Advertised For Evolution

Published

on

Fans that attended last night’s NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV were privy to some announcements for WWE’s first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view event, Evolution, emanating from the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York on October 28th. One such advertisement for the event featured Alexa Bliss vs. Trish Stratus, which we now know is officially confirmed (read that here), but there was also another advertisement that revealed the return of a former Women’s Champion.

Michelle McCool, who many of today’s fans probably know best as the wife of The Undertaker, was also advertised for the show according to PWInsider. McCool, who retired back in 2011, is a two-time Divas Champion as well as a two-time Women’s Champion who’s last match came back in January when she entered the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble match at the number 14 spot. She also had the most eliminations in the match, tossing out five other women before being eliminated by Natalya. Before that, her last appearance for WWE came at RAW 25 on January 22nd when she was introduced to the crowd along with a host of other former Women’s Superstars.

At this time it’s not yet known if McCool would be competing at Evolution as the advertisement she appeared in did not feature a specific match.

WWE News: Update On Johnny Gargano Following TakeOver, EC3 Possibly Injured

Published

on

Following last night’s NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, WWE’s Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative Triple H took part in a post-show media conference call to discuss the event.

Among the topics were the status of Johnny Gargano after his Last Man Standing main event for the NXT Title in which Tommaso Ciampa retained when Gargano delivered a running knee from the stage that sent him catapulting into a production box and falling to the floor. The move led to Ciampa rolling off the stage to his feet to hang onto the championship and it was noted on commentary that Gargano may have suffered a dislocated knee, which Triple H elaborated on, stating that he may have suffered a dislocated kneecap.

‘The Game’ would also discuss EC3, noting that he was “dinged up” during his match with The Velveteen Dream, but some have taken this to mean that ‘The Top One Percent’ might have gotten a concussion. EC3 would take to Twitter after the bout, sporting a swollen eye:

EA’s Take: I don’t necessarily buy Gargano’s injury. Does anyone else think it was amazingly quick how Mauro Ranallo said he had gotten “word” that it might be a dislocated knee? Smells like a setup to me and a possible way to write him off of television for a bit, possibly to cool off the year long feud with Ciampa. That was obviously the planned finish and the medical staff had only been checking on him for what seemed like mere seconds before Mauro said it was a dislocated knee. I don’t know, just doesn’t seem like it was legitimate to me. As for EC3, that one I can see as being real, but then again if he was concussed would they have been putting him in front of a camera for an interview?

WWE News: Alexa Bliss vs. Trish Stratus Now Confirmed For Evolution

Published

on

As was noted last night, fans who attended NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV at the Barclays Center were privy to advertisements for the upcoming WWE Evolution pay-per-view on October 28th from the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. One such advertisement depicted a big match for the event that would see WWE Hall Of Famer Trish Stratus make her return to the ring, taking on RAW Superstar Alexa Bliss.

Today, WWE has now confirmed that match will be taking place with the following announcement:

Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss vs. Trish Stratus

As if WWE Evolution, the groundbreaking all-women’s pay-per-view, wasn’t already historic enough, Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss will face seven-time Women’s Champion Trish Stratus in what is sure to be a match for the ages.

The Goddess, who is set to defend her Raw Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam, will battle the WWE Hall of Famer for the first time at the pay-per-view event set for Sunday, Oct. 28, at 7 ET/4 PT. Not only will this be Bliss and Stratus’ first match against each other, but it will also mark Stratus’ first match since competing in the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble Match earlier this year.

WWE Evolution will stream live on WWE Network, featuring women’s championship matches from Monday Night Raw, SmackDown LIVE, NXT and NXT UK, as well as the final of the second annual Mae Young Classic 2018.
