WWE News: Mae Young Classic Commentary Team & Premier Date Announced

Published

on

The WWE’s second annual Mae Young Classic kicks off tonight with night one of tapings at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. Today, the WWE has revealed that the commentary team for the tournament will be Michael Cole, Renee Young and Beth Phoenix, as well as the WWE Network premier date:

Mae Young Classic 2018 premieres Wednesday, Sept. 5, on WWE Network

This year’s Mae Young Classic, featuring 32 of the world’s most elite female competitors, will premiere on WWE Network on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 9/8 C, immediately following WWE NXT.

The single-elimination tournament will continue each Wednesday night until only two competitors remain. The finalists will then battle for the Mae Young Classic trophy at WWE Evolution, the first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view, on Sunday, Oct. 28, live on WWE Network.

Calling the action of this year’s Mae Young Classic will be Michael Cole, WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix and Renee Young, marking the first time in WWE history that two women are in the announce booth. Phoenix, a three-time WWE Women’s Champion and former Divas Champion, most recently lent her insight at the announce desk as part of this year’s Mixed Match Challenge.

Joining them as part of the Mae Young Classic broadcast team will be Cathy Kelley and Shadia Bseiso, who will conduct backstage interviews with competitors throughout the tournament. Hailing from Jordan, Bseiso is the first woman from the Middle East to be recruited into WWE’s developmental system, training at the WWE Performance Center. Kayla Braxton will serve as the tournament’s ring announcer.

The WWE Universe won’t have to wait until Sept. 5, however, to get an in-depth look at the Mae Young Classic field of competitors. Before the tournament action kicks off, WWE Network will present Mae Young Classic 2018 Bracketology on Wednesday, Aug. 29, at 9/8 C, hosted by Phoenix and the voice of NXT, Mauro Ranallo.

So far, 31 of the 32 tournament competitors have been announced. The final slot will be up for grabs on tonight’s edition of WWE NXT, when two athletes from the inaugural tournament, Vanessa Borne and Taynara Conti, face off in a Qualifying Match.

Check out the list of confirmed competitors below, and don’t miss a second of the action when WWE’s groundbreaking women’s tournament returns to WWE Network on Sept. 5.

WWE News: Non-Spoiler Preview For Tonight’s NXT & 205 Live (12/12/18)

NXT 12-12-18
Spoiler-free previews for tonight’s NXT and 205 Live!

After a couple of weeks worth of WWE’s NXT were held in San Jose and Los Angeles, California, last week the brand returned back to its home at Full Sail University as the final episodes of the year have already been taped.

Although tonight’s episode of WWE NXT was previously recorded at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida, we at The Chairshot realize not everyone likes a spoiler. With that in mind, here’s a non-spoiler preview of what’s happening on NXT, which airs at 8PM EST on the WWE Network:

  • NXT General Manager William Regal has hand-picked Ricochet’s challenger for the NXT North American Title
  • EC3 seeks revenge when he takes on The Undisputed Era’s Bobby Fish
  • What’s going through Aleister Black & Johnny Gargano’s minds ahead of their Steel Cage Match?
  • Someone will qualify for the NXT Women’s Title #1 Contender’s Fatal 4-Way when Mia Yim meets Reina Gonzalez
  • Following a vicious attack two weeks ago, The Mighty will face-off with Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch in tag action

Preceding NXT will be the high-flying action of the Cruiserweights at 7PM for 205 Live. While it was taped last night prior to SmackDown Live, here’s a non-spoiler preview for tonight’s episode of the purple brand:

  • Before defending his title at TLC, Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy goes one-on-one with Noam Dar
  • Cedric Alexander looks to send a message to Buddy Murphy through his friends when he battles ‘The Premier Athlete’ Tony Nese

WWE News: Another Match Made For TLC This Sunday

Randy Orton
WWE has added a Chairs Match to TLC on Sunday!

Just as SmackDown Live is about to go on the air (keep up with all the action with Mitchell’s Live Report), another match has been made official for Sunday’s TLC pay-per-view featuring two of the blue brand’s top Superstars.

After their recent encounters and the shocking unmasking, Rey Mysterio will have his shot at revenge against Randy Orton when they go one-on-one. However, it won’t be just any match as the two will clash in a Chairs Match:

Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton will pull out a chair (or two or 10) to settle their scorching rivalry, and the time and place for the hard-hitting encounter will be at WWE TLC, where they will go head to head (and swing for swing) in a Chairs Match.

The bitter hatred between these two Superstars fueled several jaw-dropping moments, including Orton viciously unmasking The Master of the 619 during the Nov. 20 edition of SmackDown LIVE. Given their chaotic brawls in recent weeks, nothing will come close to the battle that awaits them in this steel sharpens steel affair.

Will Mysterio capitalize on his moment for redemption? Or will The Apex Predator claim another “victim?” Don’t miss Mysterio and Orton swinging for the fences in what promises to be a chaotic Chairs Match at WWE TLC, Sunday, Dec. 16, streaming live at 7 ET/4 PT on the award-winning WWE Network.

Who do you think will get the win at TLC? Let us know on social media @theCHAIRSHOTcom and always remember to use the hashtag #UseYourHead!
