It came as a surprise to many last Wednesday night on WWE’s NXT when Tommaso Ciampa defeated Aleister Black to become the new NXT Champion after Ciampa’s longtime rival, Johnny Gargano, interfered and mistakenly cost Black the match.
Black’s reign ended at 102 days, however we all know that champions are due a rematch when they lose their title and without giving anything away, the belief was that Aleister would be getting his chance at redemption at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn on August 18th. It looks now as though that chance is in serious jeopardy.
According to F4WOnline, Black has recently undergone surgery after suffering an unspecified injury last Saturday night while NXT was on the road in Las Vegas, Nevada (find results here). Black was in action against the new NXT Champion and was crotched on the top turnbuckle for one spot which is said to be where he was injured.
Again, at this time there are no details on the nature of the injury, surgery or recovery time for Aleister, however it was noted to be a “quite scary” situation, but he will be okay. The Chairshot will provide further details on Black’s injury and recovery as soon as they become available.
