Match #6: Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper w/Braun Strowman & Erick Rowan vs. The Brothers Of Destruction (Kane & The Undertaker)
Bray sends Rowan into the ring before the bell, Kane & Taker drop him with big boots and dispose of him with a double chokeslam. Harper steps into the ring with Kane and the bell rings, The Devil’s Favorite Demon firing away in the corner, Harper reverses a whip into the corner and Kane explodes out with a clothesline. He plants Harper with a side slam for a count of 2, hits the ropes for a running dropkick, then makes the tag to The Deadman. Taker pummeling Harper with right hands in the corner, goes to work on the left shoulder and goes for Old School, Harper preventing it with a right hand and tagging out.

Bray with heavy shots to Taker, shoots him in for a right hand, The Phenom ducks it and flies with a clothesline for a 2 count. Wyatt quickly tags out, Harper coming back in and The Demon Of Death Valley going back to the shoulder, climbing up top and connecting this time with Old School, then tossing him to the outside. Taker lays Harper on the apron, drops the patented leg and Harper falls to the floor. The Deadman rolls in and tags out, The Big Red Machine sends Harper back in, shoots him into the ropes for a back body drop and takes a kick that has little affect. Harper ducks a right, clotheslines Kane to the outside and he lands on his feet, Braun rushing at him and meeting a boot to the face.

Bray tries to get involved, Kane grabs him by the throat, allowing Strowman to grab The Devil’s Favorite Demon and throw him across the announce desk. The New Face Of Fear gets the tag, lays a beating on Kane before tossing him back in the ring, then continues to do more of the same. Harper back in to maintain control, rams shoulders into the breadbasket in the corner and scoring with right hands before bringing Bray back. The Eater Of Worlds with rights of his own, Kane turns the tables, Wyatt ducks a right hand, hits the ropes and flattens The Big Red Machine with a crossbody. He looks to end it with Sister Abigail, mocks The Deadman on the apron, Kane battle out and spikes Bray with a DDT.

Undertaker gets the tag as Harper comes back in, squashes him in the corner and plants him with a DDT, then drops a leg for a 2 count. The Phenom calls for the chokeslam, Wyatt hits the ring and Taker has them both by the throat, The Black Sheep creating a distraction that allows Bray & Harper to clothesline Taker to the outside. The Deadman lands on his feet, gets Braun by the neck as Kane drops Harper & Bray in the ring, heads outside to join his brother and they double chokeslam Strowman through the spanish announce table.

The Phenom steps into the ring and meets a superkick from Harper, Bray with Sister Abigail behind the ref’s back, Kane breaking the count at 2. Harper levels The Devil’s Favorite Demon with a clothesline, Wyatt going into the Spider Crawl as Kane & Taker both sit-up. They plant Bray & Harper with synchronized chokeslams, The Deadman spikes Harper with a Tombstone and that’s it.
Winners: The Brothers Of Destruction (Undertaker/Tombstone)

  • EA’s TakeI held out hope that there may be a chance for Bray to actually come out on top, but as soon as Harper was revealed as one of the opponents I knew that he was in the match to take the fall. If Bray & Harper couldn’t beat Roman & Ambrose, they certainly aren’t beating Kane & Taker. To be honest, it was cool to see The Brothers Of Destruction back together one last time, but that’s all this was. A nostalgic reunion to celebrate The Deadman’s 25 years, which is also fine. I just wish it didn’t have to come at the expense of Bray.

Match #7 – WWE Title Tournament Finals: Roman Reigns vs. Dean Ambrose
The bell rings and neither guy holds back, meeting in the center of the ring with furious right hands, Roman tosses Ambrose with a teardrop suplex, then whips him in for a back body drop. The Lunatic Fringe sees it coming and kicks, fires off with jabs and chops, hits the ropes for a crossbody and meets a wall. Dean tells Reigns to bring it, The Big Dog charges at him and they both fall over the top to the floor, Roman reversing an irish whip into the barricade. Ambrose comes right back with a clothesline, slides in the ring and flies back out onto Roman with a suicide dive.

He rolls The Big Dog back in, climbs upstairs and scores with a dropkick for a 2 count, then goes to the shoulder with an armbreaker and locks in a fujiwara armbar. Reigns finds a vertical base, The Lunatic Fringe with a knee to the chin, hammers down elbow and headbutts in the corner from the 2nd rope, Roman powers out with Ambrose on his shoulder and powerbombs him. He grabs Dean by the legs, muscles him back up into a sit-out powerbomb and gets a 2 count, props The Lunatic Fringe on the top turnbuckle and climbs up for a samoan drop.

Ambrose battles out of it, botches a sunset flip bomb off the 2nd rope, then climbs back up, jumping down into a Superman Punch for a near fall. The Big Dog looks for another Superman Punch, Dean catches the arm into Dirty Deeds, Roman fights it off with a right hand, Ambrose rebounding off the ropes with a Lunatic Lariat. Reigns springs back up and hits a Spear out of the blue, hooks the leg and The Lunatic Fringe kicks out at 2. Roman sets for another and runs into a kick, Roman charges again, Dean side-steps it and Roman goes into the turnbuckles, Ambrose with a schoolboy for a near fall.

He spikes The Big Dog with Dirty Deeds and only gets 2, both men struggling to get to their feet now. They trade punches from a seated position and battle back to their feet, Dean charging into the corner with a forearm and unloading with right hands. Reigns turns the tide and scores with clotheslines, Ambrose trading out again and stomping Roman down, The Big Dog firing up and hits a Spear to finish it.
Winner and NEW WWE World Heavyweight Champion: Roman Reigns (Spear)

  • Post-Match: Ambrose congratulates his brother and leaves the ring to the new champion as the fireworks hit and the confetti rains down. Triple H makes his way down to the ring clapping his hands, gets in and raises the new champion’s arm in victory, then offers a handshake. Roman turns his back, looks at the title and delivers a Spear to Hunter. Sheamus comes in from nowhere and drops Roman with a Brogue Kick, handing in his Money In The Bank briefcase.

Match #8 for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship: WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns vs. Sheamus
Sheamus makes a cover, the bell rings and the ref counts, but only to 2. The Celtic Warrior sets for another Brogue Kick, Roman ducks it, hits the ropes and Sheamus connects to win the title.
Winner and NEW WWE World Heavyweight Champion: Sheamus (Brogue Kick)

  • After The Bell: Triple H gets back in the ring and raises Sheamus’ hand, then hugs him and stands over Roman’s lifeless body. Sheamus celebrates with the title, placing a foot on Reigns’ chest and standing next to Hunter, Roman looking emotionally destroyed in the ring to close the show.
  • EA’s TakeI want to say I knew this would happen as I predicted it weeks ago, but of course I didn’t know for sure. Logic told me that it was the best way to go, the Reigns/Ambrose match getting off to a such a quick start tipped me off to it even more and I mentioned how making him look absurd earlier could have been a curveball. It only makes sense, you need a top heel and the best way to do that is to screw Roman out of the championship again. I really don’t like that they made Sheamus look so silly earlier in the night.

EA’s TakeWith many top names out, this was pretty well what I expected the show to be. Whether it was the dull Atlanta crowd or the lack of that top star power, it just seemed that the entire show was uncreative and predictable. The crowd was not into matches that I genuinely enjoyed, which never plays well on television. The company did do the right thing by having Sheamus cash-in and win, WWE really doesn’t have any full-time top heels and without turning one of your top babyfaces, this was really the only choice. Del Rio is fresh off his return and is still finding his bearings, plus he already owns a title just like Owens. I’m a believer in KO, but he’s not ready for the main event yet and we just did the “double champion” deal a couple months back. Overall there were no bad matches, but the lack of creativity and energy from the crowd left a lot to be desired.

Top Three To Watch
1 – Roman Reigns vs. Dean Ambrose
2 – Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens
3 – Charlotte vs. Paige

Attitude of Aggression

The Attitude Of Aggression returns for another installment of The Big Four Project, a chronological analysis, review, and discussion about WWE’s Big Four PPVs/ Premium Live Events. On this Episode, the guys cover WrestleMania VIII. The era of Hulkamania was drawing to a close and this particular WrestleMania, to a large degree, dealt with that. This epic event at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis in the spring of 1992 saw two unforgettable classic championship matches as Bret “Hitman” Hart sought to recapture the IC title from Rowdy Roddy Piper and “Macho Man” Randy Savage sought to reclaim the WWE Championship from “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. Add in Hulk Hogan’s last match in WWE for roughly 10 months, and the unforgettable return of The Ultimate Warrior, and this Mania was one for the ages, even if much of the undercard was underwhelming. Join us here for all that and much more on another epic installment of The Big Four Project!
