The revival of the Cruiserweight Division by WWE back in 2016 came with a lot of excitement and anticipation, as the company decided to reprise it after the success of the Cruiserweight Classic.
Since then, the brand has certainly had its ups-and-downs, but since Triple H was given the reins of the show earlier this year, weekly viewers of the program would argue it has only been “ups” since then. However for those weekly viewers, you may tune into the WWE Network following SmackDown Live next Tuesday and find that the purple brand is not on the air.
Beginning next week, 205 Live will be moved to Wednesday nights at 7PM EST, just before NXT goes on the air at 8PM. This is due to the recently announced return of the Mixed Match Challenge, which will feature two matches per episode for season two and be filmed immediately following SmackDown Live. Matches for 205 Live will still be taped on Tuesday and at this time it’s believed the move to Wednesdays is just temporary to accommodate the Mixed Match Challenge.
The Wednesday night WWE Network lineup will now look like this for the immediate future. Also, this week’s episode of 205 Live will feature a Cruiserweight Championship match as Cedric Alexander defends against his SummerSlam opponent, Drew Gulak:
- 7PM – 205 Live
- 8PM – NXT
- 9PM – Mae Young Classic
