It was certainly to the pleasure of many last night when Becky Lynch defeated Charlotte Flair to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion at Hell In A Cell, a moment some have felt took too long for ‘The Lass Kicker’ to get.
The feud between Becky and Charlotte has easily been one of the most discussed among the WWE Universe, many voicing their displeasure at the notion the company was trying to make Lynch the heel. Of course, this has resulted in a wave of support for Becky and today, it appears as if WWE changed some details of last night’s match because of it.
On the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that initial plans would have seen ‘The Lass Kicker’ using more heel tactics in the match. However, WWE realized Becky was going to be cheered and instead both she and Charlotte worked the match like babyfaces.
This does not necessarily mean that will be the case moving forward, as it was also noted the goal was to edge Flair more as a babyface in the post-match. Of course, we would see Charlotte offer a handshake which Becky did not accept.
