IMPACT Rumors: Speculation On Eli Drake’s Bound For Glory Opponent

Published

on

We’re just two days away from IMPACT Wrestling’s annual Bound For Glory pay-per-view, taking place this year from the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York.

The card now is now finalized after last night’s edition of IMPACT on Pop, which saw a backstage interview with Eli Drake in which he issued an open challenge for Bound For Glory to any, “stupid idiot from New York”. Now of course, the choice of words here by Drake is very interesting as he used one of the many catchphrases coined by current IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho.

Drake’s open challenge has now led to a lot of speculation on who the opponent will be, many believing that Jericho will indeed be the man to answer the call. Obviously, Jericho has been billed from Edmonton, Canada for the vast majority of his career. However, there was a time in his WWE run where ‘Y2J’ was billed from Manhasset, New York, as that is the town he was born in while his father, Ted Irvine, played for the NHL’s New York Rangers. For some time now, it’s been thought that Jericho appearing for IMPACT Wrestling was just a matter of when and not if, due to his relationship with IMPACT’s Co-Executive Vice Presidents Scott D’Amore and Don Callis.

It should be noted that at this time, this is of course only speculation. Currently, Jericho’s next scheduled wrestling appearance comes on November 3rd when he defends his IWGP Intercontinental Title against EVIL at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Power Struggle.
