WWE News: Charlotte Flair’s Ex-Husband Suing Her, The Company & Ric Flair

Published

on

If you ever thought wrestling companies were the ones getting sued in the business, today is another classic case of the other side of the coin.

TMZ is reporting today that the ex-husband of WWE Superstar Charlotte Flair has filed suit against the WWE, Charlotte and ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair over parts of the book Second Nature, which both Ric and Charlotte authored and was released earlier this year. Riki Paul Johnson, who was married to Charlotte (real name, Ashley Fliehr) from 2010-2011, claims the book defames him by saying that he is “sterile” and is seeking more than $5 million in damages.

Johnson alleges the book has humiliated his family and more specifically, his three children. He also claims the book’s contents include “multiple false allegations physical and/or psychological abuse” that he believes he can prove is false and also allegations that he lost multiple jobs due to drug use.

As for why Johnson has included WWE in the lawsuit, he claims that because the company was involved with the book’s promotion, they are also held responsible for its contents. At this time neither Charlotte, Ric Flair or WWE has commented on the matter.

IMPACT News: Rumor Killer On IMPACT Wanting To Bring Back Alberto El Patron

Published

on

If you’ve been scouring the world of professional wrestling news today (chances are if you’re reading this you have been) then you’ve likely come across reports tying Alberto El Patron and IMPACT Wrestling.

Throughout the day, a report was picked up by multiple outlets which was stating former IMPACT World Champion Alberto El Patron could be on his way back to IMPACT Wrestling, as the company was in talks for him to return. Of course, Alberto unceremoniously no showed the IMPACT vs. Lucha Underground show over WrestleMania weekend back in April and was subsequently released. It was also said that IMPACT believed his personal problems had subsided and were looking for him to be back at their television tapings next month in Las Vegas.

However, PWInsider is now reporting they have spoken to several sources who are stating that story is not correct and there have been no discussions within IMPACT Wrestling to bring back Alberto El Patron.

Of course, this all comes after Alberto was in the headlines again just over two weeks ago, this time for publicly bashing his ex-girlfriend and current SmackDown General Manager Paige (see the story here).

EA’s Take: Here’s a classic case of where waiting on something pays off. It never made much sense to me why IMPACT would feel Alberto’s personal issues were gone after he JUST did something stupid in public again no less than a month ago. What the…what? IMPACT is trying to turn their reputation around and has done a tremendous job at it, despite it not really showing up in things like television ratings. If I’m them, WWE or anybody else, I wouldn’t go near this guy. He has a little something at this point we call a “track record”.

IMPACT News: More On James Ellsworth’s Bound For Glory Appearance

Published

on

In case you missed IMPACT Wrestling’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view this past Sunday night, Eli Drake had issued an open challenge leading up to the show, calling out any “stupid idiot from New York” to face him.

Of course, this led to speculation that current IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho would finally be arriving in IMPACT Wrestling which in turn led to disappointed fans when the man who answered Drake’s challenge was James Ellsworth.

Since Ellsworth’s surprise appearance, there’s been a lot of talk regarding original plans for the match as Dave Meltzer speculated on the newest Wrestling Observer Radio that Ellsworth very well may have been a late replacement not for Jericho, but for Low Ki instead. Last month, it was reported that IMPACT had reached out to Low Ki about appearing at their New York shows (which it wasn’t indicated if that meant Bound For Glory or the following television tapings), however the reigning MLW World Heavyweight Champion declined (check out that story here).

To clarify the situation regarding plans for Eli Drake’s Open Challenge, today PWInsider reports that Ellsworth has been the planned opponent for at least several days and he was not a last minute replacement. Additionally, SEScoops is reporting today that Ellsworth was offered a contract with IMPACT Wrestling, however he turned it down as he is still on “WWE’s radar”. Ellsworth is reportedly set for tonight’s SmackDown 1000 in Washington D.C.
