NJPW News: Wrestlers Unhappy With New Management

Published

on

There has been a lot of discussion lately in regards to New Japan Pro Wrestling. Recently, the company has undergone management changes. Harold Meij  was brought aboard to be new president of the company. Meij has made a name for himself previously in the toy industry. And the feeling is that Meji, and new GM Michael Craven, are great businessmen, however, not “wrestling people.”

Dave Meltzer has reported in this weeks Wrestler Observer that morale is very shakey in the locker room. And that a lot of wrestlers who you would never think would be considering leaving the company are weighing the decision to do so.

This is interesting as reports a few weeks ago stated that Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, and the Young Bucks were considering a jump to the WWE in January of 2019. Now, there is the possibility wrestlers from NJPW will follow suit.

Jason’s Take:
It is interesting to see wrestlers upset with NJPW. The company had seemed to be doing great business and had been making a footprint in America. While it’s unlikely a mass exodus of talent will occur, it could be interesting to see who would make the jump to TNA or WWE. WWE does has a lot of depth in talent, so I question what some of the wrestlers would have for a spot on the roster. Also, with the differing of styles between companies, jumping to the WWE may not be the best bet.

WWE Rumors: Superstars Displeased With Evolution Battle Royal Involvement?

Published

on

As has been noted, last night’s RAW gave us another match announcement for the company’s first ever all women’s pay-per-view, Evolution, coming up on October 28th from the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.

During the broadcast, it was revealed that there would be a Battle Royal where the winner would receive a future championship match and a number of participants were announced. Joining the field will be Ember Moon, Nia Jax, Tamina, Dana Brooke, Naomi, Lana, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Carmella, Alicia Fox, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Asuka and the returning Torrie Wilson.

While it has not been confirmed, we previously learned that a number of NXT Superstars would be at Evolution and it was speculated they could be part of a Battle Royal as WWE likely wanted to get as many women on the card as possible. Now that the match has been made though, it looks like a number of the participants aren’t happy about being a part of it as Naomi, Lana, Carmella and The IIconics all tweeted out their reactions to the announcement. It’s possible that this is part of a storyline, but more likely to be their actual feelings on the Battle Royal:

WWE News: Superstars Do Not Want To Go To Saudi Arabia, WWE Comments & More

Published

on

While I’m sure that WWE would simply like the story to just go away, the controversy surrounding the upcoming Crown Jewel event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia after the likely murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi (see the story here) and following call from multiple United States Senators to either move or cancel the show (check that out here).

Yesterday, Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso ran a story about multiple, anonymous WWE Superstars being disinterested in going to Saudi Arabia, which has also been reported by other outlets as well. Despite all of this, the show is proceeding as planned on Friday, November 2nd and airing at 12PM EST on the WWE Network. WWE has also since responded to the reports of Superstars anonymously speaking out in a statement to The New York Post:

“As always, we maintain an open line of communication with our performers as we continue to monitor the situation.”

Now, last night on RAW there was no mention of the location of Crown Jewel, however the event was still heavily promoted. To say that many fans are displeased with WWE’s decision would be an understatement for sure, but there are some that still understand the nuances of the company’s deal with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. One such man is former WWE Superstar John Bradshaw Layfield, offering the following take on the situation on FOX News’ Varney & Co:
