It has only been a couple of weeks now since former Ring Of Honor World Television Champion Punishment Martinez finished up with the promotion back on September 29th, losing his title to Jeff Cobb in Las Vegas at the Death Before Dishonor television tapings (see that story here).
It didn’t take long after Martinez’s loss for word to get our that he was done with ROH and the most likely destination was the WWE. Today, PWInsider has reportedly confirmed that Punishment Martinez has officially signed a WWE contract and soon will be heading to the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida before starting with the NXT brand.
The 36-year old, 14-year veteran got his start at the World Famous Monster Factory, but didn’t really get his big break until Ring Of Honor’s 2016 Top Prospect Tournament. It was at this time he was signed and became a regular part of ROH programming. His World Television Title win back in June at State Of The Art day two would be Martinez’s only championship with ROH.
At this time, it’s not known when exactly he will be reporting to the WWE Performance Center or debuting with NXT.
