As new developments unfold and will seemingly continue to do so, the WWE’s Crown Jewel event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is still proceeding as scheduled and remains the hottest topic among wrestling social circles.
Recently, it was reported by multiple outlets that with everything going on, a number of anonymous Superstars have said they don’t feel comfortable going back to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. WWE would comment, stating they maintain an open communication with their Superstars, but we had yet to hear any Superstars themselves speak on the issue. Meanwhile, former WWE Superstar John Bradshaw Layfield was outspoken about the company keeping the event as scheduled in a recent appearance on FOX News (see all of that here).
Today, TMZ Sports posted video of catching up with SmackDown Live Superstar Randy Orton at the airport and asked ‘The Viper’ his feelings on the situation:
EA’s Take: Obviously, no matter what your position is on Crown Jewel, I think you need to take this with a grain of salt. It’s very possible Orton actually feels this way, but it’s also just as possible he’s simply giving the company line when it comes to the subject. I’d be absolutely stunned if anybody under a WWE contract came out publicly against the show going on. They know where their bread is buttered.
