WWE News: SmackDown Women’s Title Match With Stipulation Added To Evolution

Published

on

Tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live wasted no time in getting to the action, opening with both champion and challenger ready to go in the ring when Becky Lynch defended the SmackDown Women’s Title against Charlotte Flair.

After ‘The Lass Kicker’ got herself intentionally disqualified this past Saturday at Super Show-Down, she wouldn’t be able to do the same tonight with the stipulation being she could lose the title via disqualification. It was another tremendous outing by the former friends, testing one another’s limits for the second time in three days. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t get a clear cut winner again as the battle spilled to the outside with neither Becky or Charlotte able to beat the referee’s ten count.

With the match ending in a Double Count-Out, it didn’t stop Flair and Lynch from continuing the war up the entrance ramp to the stage. It wasn’t until Charlotte delivered a spear to ‘The Lass Kicker’ that sent both of them through the LED wall that the fighting came to an end. While neither woman came away from the situation unscathed, there was still business to settle.

Later in the show, SmackDown General Manager Paige would declare that since the rules can’t contain them, Charlotte and Becky will duke it out for the SmackDown Women’s Title one more time at Evolution in a Last Woman Standing match:

WWE News: Final Two Superstars Qualify For World Cup On SmackDown 1000

Published

on

Last night on RAW, we saw Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins and one-half of the RAW Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler both pick up victories to earn their spots in the World Cup tournament, taking place Friday, November 2nd at WWE’s Crown Jewel.

Ziggler and Rollins now join John Cena and Kurt Angle who also represent RAW, while SmackDown Live’s Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton both qualified last week. Tonight, four Superstars vied for the final two spots as the blue brand presented SmackDown 1000.

In the night’s first Qualifying Match, the crowd was firmly behind Rusev as he took on ‘The A-Lister’ The Miz. Unfortunately for ‘The Bulgarian Brute’, it was a very short match as Aiden English would come out to distract him, giving Miz the opening to grab Rusev from behind and steal a pretty easy victory. Aiden wouldn’t escape from it unscathed as Rusev would deliver a beat down for his troubles, but there was no getting back the opportunity to be in the World Cup.

The main event of the evening was our second Qualifier, as the returning Rey Mysterio squared off with United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura for the final spot. Nakamura used his striking early on to ground the high-flyer, but eventually Mysterio was able to showcase the offensive innovation we’ve come to expect from him.

Although Shinsuke was able to find his way back using his strength advantage, the resilient Rey eventually dialed up the 619 and followed with a springboard splash to move onto Crown Jewel.

New Day WWE Smackdown

Tonight’s 1000th episode of WWE’s SmackDown has been loaded with appearances and surprises as we’ve seen the Evolution reunion where a possible issue between Batista and Triple H was teased, former General Managers Vickie Guerrero, Teddy Long and John Laurinaitis hanging out with current SmackDown GM Paige and much more.

In addition to all of that, The New Day put the SmackDown Tag Team Titles on the line against The Bar in a rematch from Super Show-Down. Woods and Big E took the ring on behalf of New Day, but Cesaro and Sheamus had just as much fight tonight as they did in Melbourne.

Both teams had chances with the upper hand, however neither an array of big moves and saves would leave both feeling frustrated. After Kofi intervened from the outside to stop some underhanded tactics by Sheamus, The Bar looked to lay him out by putting him through The New Day’s announce table. To everyone’s surprise, Big Show would make his way down to ringside to seemingly prevent Kingston’s demise, but instead put him through the table with a Chokeslam. Back in the ring, Big E was distracted as Sheamus laid in wait to deliver the Brogue Kick, giving us new SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
