WWE has signed European star WALTER to a contract!
Over the course of 2018 there has been multiple occasions now where we’ve heard that WWE was interested in signing Austrian star WALTER, most known for his work with Germany’s wXw, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and EVOLVE Wrestling.
The last we heard was that while the company still had interest in signing the 31-year old, 6-4, 300 pounder, he had little interest in being away from his home for extended periods of time (see that story here). It was said that WWE was looking into using WALTER similarly to its NXT UK Superstars, where he would work in the United States much less frequently and get to stay at home much more. Despite WALTER saying that he had little interest, it looks like he wasn’t being entirely truthful.
According to PWInsider today, WWE has signed WALTER as the two sides were in talks not long after WALTER’s comments and that’s also the reason he recently dropped the PWG Championship to Jeff Cobb last month. Reportedly, PWG wanted WALTER back for a farewell show in December, however his new WWE deal did not make that possible. At this time, PWInsider reports that WALTER will be finishing his dates that were already scheduled and then will be made a part of the company’s plans for European expansion. Additionally, he will be working for the NXT UK brand and may also be able to work for some other companies as well, but who and how often is not yet determined.
