A new report says WWE had plans for Seth Rollins to lose the Intercontinental Championship!
With the recent rash of injuries and Superstars needing to miss time on WWE’s RAW roster, there’s no denying that any plans over the next few months have certainly needed to be scrapped.
With Roman Reigns, Triple H, Alexa Bliss, Braun Strowman, Kevin Owens and others all on the shelf, WWE has been making adjustments as they head towards the new year and the inevitable build to WrestleMania 35 next April. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account (which has been a great source of info), it’s even had an affect on Superstars who are currently active and their angles moving forward as plans for Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose’s feud were reportedly changed.
It’s being said the original plans for Ambrose’s turn on Rollins would have seen Dean cost ‘The Architect’ the Intercontinental Championship, which he helped him win back at SummerSlam over Dolph Ziggler. The man who was set to take the title off of Rollins would have been none other than Elias, who is in the midst of a babyface push now on the red brand:
Interesting tidbit for those who like this type of thing: prior to all of RAWs creative plans going up in flames last month, the original Ambrose heel turn angle was to see him cost Rollins the IC title. Who was scheduled to win the strap you ask? Elias.

EA’s Take: I would have loved this because quite honestly, Rollins and Ambrose’s rivalry doesn’t need the title. It really feels a little above it, at least to me, since the championship is basically a secondary act in this feud. Just think about it. What exactly does retaining the IC Title do for Rollins or winning it do for Ambrose? Nothing in my eyes, so hopefully WWE can find some way to move it to somebody else once WrestleMania season hits.
