Andrew’s WWE Raw & SmackDown Live Results & Ratings

So let’s get to the main roster show that most people love.

Smackdown Live

Results & Ratings:

  • SmackDown Women’s Championship Match: Asuka (c) vs Naomi – Asuka via Asuka Lock @12:35 – ***
  • Miz & Mandy Rose vs R-Truth & Carmella – Miz via Skull Crushing Finale @1:30 –
  • Gallows & Anderson vs The Usos – No Contest @7:50 – ** 1/2
  • Andrade Almas & Daniel Bryan vs AJ Styles & Mustafa Ali – Ali via 054 (on Bryan) @17:50  – ****

  • The show started off in that goofy “rallying the team” backstage shot they did in the past. It’s unique, but goofy.
  • Becky and Charlotte didn’t really say much, and honestly I hated when Vince said Asuka was “hiding behind” Charlotte. She’s short and was playing off of the women in the ring instead of posturing for Vince, so even if he meant it was hard to see her, hiding was an odd comment.
  • Asuka and Naomi was a solid match, moved the women’s division forward while still holding Becky and Charlotte at the top.
  • Miz basically acting like an intimidated child asking Vince if Shane could come out and play, but then being given a match to prove his worth to Shane was so damn awkward, it was amusing.
  • Gallows and Anderson were on TV, looked good and Machine Gun looked shredded.
  • Tag Match was really good, Ali pinning Bryan is a nice twist but commentary paying more attention to Wikipedia facts than the match really made watching the match more uninteresting.

        That is All

Overall 7.25/10

As per usual, this was a good show. Even if this mixed tag was kind of throw away, it served a good purpose. SmackDown feels more consistent in how they tell stories and actually making logical sense. The wrinkle with Ali getting the pin and being on the show two weeks in a row is much more interesting than that red brand discussing new people and just showing a few “coming soon” trailers.

Hmm…maybe I should keep a running tally of overall scores for both brands to see exactly which brand is superior.
