Asuka has been announced to defend her title at Royal Rumble!
The WWE Superstars are in the midst of a well-deserved week off currently, getting some time to relax for next week’s Christmas holiday after taping next week’s episodes of RAW (next week’s RAW spoilers) and SmackDown Live (next week’s SmackDown spoilers) already.
Of course following Sunday’s TLC, the next big pay-per-view for the company comes on January 27th as the Royal Rumble heads to Phoenix, Arizona. With a victory over Baron Corbin at TLC, the first match for the event was made official as Braun Strowman will challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship. Now, it looks like we can expect another title match at the WWE’s January tradition.
If you’re a Hulu Plus subscriber, you may have caught the announcement on this week’s episode of WWE Main Event, as it was revealed that after losing her title at TLC, Becky Lynch will get the chance to recapture it when she faces SmackDown Women’s Champion Asuka at the Royal Rumble, one-on-one.
You can catch all the action at Royal Rumble on Sunday, January 27th live on pay-per-view or the WWE Network.
EA’s Take: This seems like a pretty cut-and-dry, standard story. BUT, here’s the thing…when has WWE ever broke news on Main Event, a show that I wouldn’t even call secondary because I can’t imagine too many people watch it. Now I’m not saying that the match isn’t happening, I just personally want to see the announcement on WWE’s Twitter or on WWE.com or on SmackDown Live…you know, something that people actually look at.
