WWE Reportedly Wants To Bring In NJPW Titleholder

WWE is said to be interested in the current NJPW Junior Heavyweight Champion!

As the WWE continues its growth across the globe and searching all corners of the planet for talent, there’s been no shortage of fresh faces coming into the company’s Performance Center in recent months with the arrivals of the likes of Matt Riddle, Punishment Martinez and a host of others.

With the company seemingly increasing its push to sign new talent and with a new Performance Center class expected in January (including possibly ACH and Trevor Lee), it doesn’t appear as if anybody is off limits. Recently, we heard that WWE had reached out to New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Tetsuya Naito (find more on that here), which was of course declined by the former IWGP Intercontinental Champion. However, a current New Japan titleholder now looks to be on their radar.

While it was previously reported that WWE reached out to more stars of New Japan other than Naito (check that out here), the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion KUSHIDA is currently being looked at closely by the company. It’s being said that the 35-year old, former Ring Of Honor World Television Champion’s contract is believed to expire at the end of January and while any contact between WWE and KUSHIDA would be tampering, The Observer is also reporting that the company has become much less worried about legal ramifications when it comes to signing talent outside of ROH or MLW. Reportedly, WWE is not concerned about facing any legal course from NJPW due to the process being much more difficult since they are not located in the United States.
