Sean ‘X-Pac’ Waltman on Tyler Bate and WWE Taking Their Time with the Younger Talent

I think they’re taking their time with him and I think they are because of his age. He was a number one draft pick of mine the first time I ever saw him when I was at Chikara for King of Trios several years ago. And I talked to {William} Regal about him and Regal was just ‘he’s way too young, so just tell him to keep doing what he’s doing’ and eventually they signed him. They’re a lot more careful with the younger guys now and I think that might be it.

Sean ‘X-Pac’ Waltman on John Cena Being The Best At Putting Guys Over

I just have thoughts on the match and how great it was and what a tremendous job John Cena did of putting {Finn} Balor over. And I’m gonna refer to the tweet I put out after that. No one in John Cena’s shoes has ever done as good of job as he does putting guys over. As far as the face of the company (John Cena), I don’t think anyone has done a better job of putting guys over or lifting/elevating other guys.

Sean ‘X-Pac’ Waltman Shares His Thoughts On Andrade versus Rey Mysterio on Smackdown

When I turned it on and I saw the way the match was going, early parts of it, I am like ‘okay this is gonna be good’ because they were taking their time and they were doing a slow build and it was good. Respect to those guys, and guys that do that style can start cutting a real frantic pace and it’s really hard to digest and people were in it they were invested. They were taking their time, they were doing wrestling, take-downs. You could just see the people, they weren’t dicking around they were all watching, eyes were on the ring, it was really nice to see that… It was a nice solid win for him over Rey…. And Zelina Vega I can’t put her over enough, she’s so valuable out there as part of that act. I mean she would do great on her own or with anyone but I really love those two together.

Sean ‘X-Pac’ Waltman On The Ring Of Honor/ MLW Situation and The Future of Partnerships Between Promotions

I don’t see how that’s politics though, how is that politics? {referring to a tweet by Court Bauer}  That’s not politics, that’s just business. It might be bad business but it’s not like political maneuverings or something. I don’t see that… It was only a matter of time until this type of stuff was going to happen, all the great cooperation from All In and what a beautiful thing that was, I am not sure that’s going to be able to happen like that again moving forward.

Sean ‘X-Pac’ Waltman On Ivelisse Velez’s Lucha Underground Contract Comment

The thing that I don’t get though is alright, if they say ‘ Oh don’t worry we’ll let you out if you want out’ then put that in writing. If you’re going to do that you shouldn’t have a problem putting it in writing. And it should have been put in writing. It’s lame. It’s not like she’s the number one ratings draw on Lucha Underground, let the girl go make a living.

Sean ‘X-Pac’ Waltman Shares His Story On The Time He Was Asked To Scout Talent in Mexico After Alberto Del Rio Had Left WWE

…So Canyon Cemen called me and asked me to go scout talent in Mexico. Andrade was one of the guys, he was {La} Sombra back then he worked for CMLL, his girlfriend was Dark Angel so I hit her up about it… cause Canyon was like we need a guy, we need another Del Rio, somebody under 30 that can speak English, six foot and doesn’t do drugs. I am like ‘oh so you basically want me to get you a unicorn.’ {laughs}…

Mitchell’s AEW Continental Classic Update! (11/27/23)

What a start to the tournament!

Did your picks win points?

The AEW Continental Classic is underway, with almost everyone competing. Check in here if you haven’t seen the winners and losers of week 1!

Here are your Gold League standings!

  • Jon Moxley: 1-0, 3 points
  • Swerve Strickland: 1-0, 3 points
  • Jay White: 1-0, 3 points
  • Rush: 0-1, 0 points
  • Mark Briscoe: 0-1, 0 points.
  • Jay Lethal: 0-1, 0 points

Here are your Blue League standings!

  • Brody King: 1-0, 3 points
  • Claudio Castagnoli: 1-0, 3 points
  • Daniel Garcia: 0-1, 0 points
  • Eddie Kingston: 0-1, 0 points
  • Bryan Danielson: Yet to Compete
  • Andrade El Idolo: Yet to Compete

My Thoughts:

Nothing too crazy, nothing too wild, this tournament only just got started. The only disappointing point is that they could not get Bryan “cleared to compete” Saturday night. Not sure how much of that is shoot given the bad eye, but this was kinda the problem of wanting him in the tournament over tons of other choices. Bryan wants to face Okada for WrestleKingdom 18, how is Bryan supposed to do that at his best if he’s also gonna be in a round robin, doing five top level matches in about as many weeks? And it takes away from Andrade being able to do something. Also a little surprised we didn’t even hear from Andrade on Saturday.

Now as we heard on Saturday, round two’s matches are set. Gold League will see Mark Briscoe VS Rush, White VS Swerve, and of course, Moxley VS Lethal. Nice variety there, a couple 0-1 guys facing off, as well as two 1-0 guys, and then 1-0 VS 0-1. No offense to Lethal, but he feels like an 0-2 going up against Moxley. Hard to call the other ones but that’s the fun of it. Meanwhile, Blue League sees Brody VS Claudio in a showdown to be 2-0, then Bryan and Andrade finally jump in, Bryan against Eddie and Andrade against Garcia. Sadly, feels like Eddie and Garcia are going 0-2, no way Tony Khan is booking Bryan and Andrade to lose their first shots.

In fact, that could be half the reason they did wait on those two, that’s almost too good for just a first round opener. But I still would’ve done it, same as NJPW does stuff like that for round robins, which this is all modeled after anyway.
