More information on the new All Elite Wrestling promotion!
Now that the expected, big announcement of the launch of All Elite Wrestling has now dropped (see the story here) and the reveal of a follow-up event to All In called Double Or Nothing, there are still many details regarding the new promotion that have yet to be released.
On the most recent Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer looked to shed a little more light on some of those details, as it was reported that Cody Rhodes has already officially signed with AEW on a multi-year deal. However, The Young Bucks reportedly have not, although it was noted that they are expected to put pen to paper within the next day or two. At this time, there’s been no further updates on Hangman Page, Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian or Scorpio Sky, but it has been previously reported that Daniels’ options are either AEW or Ring Of Honor (find that story here).
Additionally, Meltzer speculated that AEW likely will not be working with Ring Of Honor as the two companies are competing with one another for some of the same talent. As for New Japan Pro Wrestling, it’s being said that there is interest on AEW’s part, but ultimately the ball is in NJPW’s court.
With regards to when Double Or Nothing could take place, PWInsider reports that sometime this Spring is the expectation on a date, but of course nothing has been confirmed. Additionally, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that there is no television deal for the promotion just yet, but the belief is that AEW will be looking to get a Tuesday night time slot for any television deal due to SmackDown Live’s impending move to Fridays in October. Also, while no networks were named specifically, it’s being said that there are “multiple offers out there”.
