News here! Today we have commentary on Kurt Angle’s WrestleMania Opponent Revealed, Gallows/Anderson To AEW? AJ Styles Contract and more!

AJ Styles Re-sings With WWE

There has been rumor for quite some time now about the decision AJ Styles would make in choosing AEW or WWE. He revealed today he re-signed with WWE.

Jason’s Take

No surprise here, the best option for AJ Styles was to re-sign with WWE. They have done well with him creatively and he has been a big piece of the overall roster.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson Pulled From Live Events?

A few weeks ago, I commented on the possibility that Gallows and Anderson were not going to resign with WWE. It is rumored they turned down a significant multi-year deal. According to WrestlingNewsCo, WWE has pulled the team from upcoming live events.

Jason’s Take

Gallows and Anderson do have a long association with Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks. You can make the speculation that the team will jump to AEW. For all the hate I, and many others, give AEW and the constant rumors of roster defections, Gallows and Anderson to AEW makes a whole world of sense. In all honesty, WWE creative really dropped the ball with this team when they made their debuts. A change of scenery will do this team some good, and add depth to the AEW tag team roster.

2019 Warrior Award Recipient Announced

With WrestleMania season and the Hall Of Fame fast approaching, the Warrior Award recipient for 2019 has been announced by WWE today. Sue Aitchison, who has worked for the company for 30 years at the corporate office, will be the recipient this year. Stephanie McMahon said:

“Sue has dedicated her entire career to helping Wish kids fulfill their dreams and putting smiles on countless families’ faces. Her heart and character epitomize the essence of the Warrior Award. She is an unsung hero who deserves to be recognized and immortalized in the WWE Hall of Fame”

Jason’s Take

This is what Warrior had originally talked about during his Hall Of Fame speech; people behind the scenes of WWE getting their much due recognition.

Dana Warrior Joins Creative Team Full Time

A few weeks ago in the shuffle, I discussed Dana Warrior working in an advisory role on the WWE creative team. According to PWInsider, officials are impressed with her, and she has been added to the creative team full time.

Jason’s Take

I posted a lengthy take about Warrior joining the creative team a few weeks back. You can read that HERE. My take still hasn’t changed on the situation, but we are all entitled to our opinions.

Kurt Angle’s WrestleMania Opponent Is…..

Kurt Angle announce on RAW that his WrestleMania opponenet for his retirement match will be none other than Baron Corbin.

Jason’s Take

Really? Seriously? Out of all the people on the current roster, they go with Baron Corbin? I mean sure, it makes sense from a storyline perspective but wow. I understand it not being the Undertaker, but no John Cena? Or no Shelton Benjamin? OR NO ANYONE ELSE ON THE FRIGGING ROSTER?????

Mitchell’s AEW Continental Classic Update! (11/27/23)

What a start to the tournament!

Did your picks win points?

The AEW Continental Classic is underway, with almost everyone competing. Check in here if you haven’t seen the winners and losers of week 1!

Here are your Gold League standings!

  • Jon Moxley: 1-0, 3 points
  • Swerve Strickland: 1-0, 3 points
  • Jay White: 1-0, 3 points
  • Rush: 0-1, 0 points
  • Mark Briscoe: 0-1, 0 points.
  • Jay Lethal: 0-1, 0 points

Here are your Blue League standings!

  • Brody King: 1-0, 3 points
  • Claudio Castagnoli: 1-0, 3 points
  • Daniel Garcia: 0-1, 0 points
  • Eddie Kingston: 0-1, 0 points
  • Bryan Danielson: Yet to Compete
  • Andrade El Idolo: Yet to Compete

My Thoughts:

Nothing too crazy, nothing too wild, this tournament only just got started. The only disappointing point is that they could not get Bryan “cleared to compete” Saturday night. Not sure how much of that is shoot given the bad eye, but this was kinda the problem of wanting him in the tournament over tons of other choices. Bryan wants to face Okada for WrestleKingdom 18, how is Bryan supposed to do that at his best if he’s also gonna be in a round robin, doing five top level matches in about as many weeks? And it takes away from Andrade being able to do something. Also a little surprised we didn’t even hear from Andrade on Saturday.

Now as we heard on Saturday, round two’s matches are set. Gold League will see Mark Briscoe VS Rush, White VS Swerve, and of course, Moxley VS Lethal. Nice variety there, a couple 0-1 guys facing off, as well as two 1-0 guys, and then 1-0 VS 0-1. No offense to Lethal, but he feels like an 0-2 going up against Moxley. Hard to call the other ones but that’s the fun of it. Meanwhile, Blue League sees Brody VS Claudio in a showdown to be 2-0, then Bryan and Andrade finally jump in, Bryan against Eddie and Andrade against Garcia. Sadly, feels like Eddie and Garcia are going 0-2, no way Tony Khan is booking Bryan and Andrade to lose their first shots.

In fact, that could be half the reason they did wait on those two, that’s almost too good for just a first round opener. But I still would’ve done it, same as NJPW does stuff like that for round robins, which this is all modeled after anyway.
