After months of questioning will she or won’t she, Sasha Banks made her much anticipated return to Monday Night RAW. Carol chimes in regarding just how big of a deal this is.
It’s been four months since Sasha Banks last appeared on WWE television. During that time dirtsheets kept reporting on Sasha’s next move. It was believed that Sasha was fed up with her booking in WWE, which lead to her taking a break. Many assumed Sasha had reached her limit and would sit out the remainder of her contract. Yet, WWE and Sasha managed to work out a deal because The Boss came back in grand style.
Sasha cemented her new heel role by attacking a defenseless Natalya. Then Becky Lynch came down to rescue Natalya, then she and Sasha got into a vicious fight. Sasha delivered a brutal beatdown on Lynch by repeatedly hitting her with a steel chair.
Sasha Banks’ return has been one of the biggest stories this past week. Her return has garnered 3 million views on WWE’s YouTube channel. Her feud with Becky has fans excited to see these two ladies battle it out in the ring. Things are looking positive for Sasha’s career and if WWE gives her the right push, she could become the new star of the women’s division.
Sure, Sasha has already had four championship reigns and she’s main-evented PPVs, however WWE never capitalized on her potential. Despite having the talent, charisma, and support of the audience; Sasha would be cast into a mid-card role in the women’s division. Like Becky Lynch, Sasha was always playing second fiddle to Charlotte Flair or Alexa Bliss. She never got a lengthy title reign or a captivating story, but now that could change.
Since Sasha’s absence, the women’s division has been fizzling. And no offense to Becky Lynch, she’s done a great job of drawing attention to the women’s division and she made history by main-eventing WrestleMania. However, since then Becky’s momentum seems to be waning a bit. Yes, she’s still popular with the crowds, but there’s been a lack of proper storylines for the RAW Women’s Champion.
Out of everyone on the RAW roster, Sasha is the best choice for Becky’s next opponent. Lacey Evans and Natalya lacked the star appeal to compete against Becky. Alexa Bliss, who has been pushed heavily by WWE seems to be taking a backseat as she teams with Nikki Cross.
Sasha and Becky’s feud will reignite the interest in RAW’s women’s division. Fans have been wanting this dream match for a long time and now they’re going to get their wish. If WWE books this storyline properly, Sasha versus Becky could be one of the hottest feuds this year.
Plus, this will also give WWE a chance to prove they have faith in Sasha. They have a talented star in Banks and she has what it takes to be the next leader of the women’s division. Sasha’s return is off to a great start and let’s hope that WWE keeps her momentum going. WWE’s creative booking is what lead to Sasha’s absence and if the company isn’t careful with the way they treat Sasha, they may lose her to another company.
