Roman Reigns returns to Raw!

And as he heads down to the ring, Jerry “The King” Lawler is on commentary! Corey Graves is on vacation but that’s fine since The King will try to get The Boss to give us the answers to #WhySashaWhy. As for Roman, he and the rest of the WWE Universe still doesn’t know who has attempted to take him out for good! If it isn’t Buddy Murphy, if it isn’t Rowan or Daniel Bryan, then who is it?!

Roman Reigns VS Dolph Ziggler!

The Show-Off makes his entrance and wants to say this face to face, as a gentleman and the bigger man, his Tweets aren’t like the usual keyboard warrior stuff. Ziggler is glad Roman is okay, really. But he just doesn’t get why Roman gets the attention while- Fans tell Ziggler, “You Suck! You Suck!” No he doesn’t! He’s the bigger man, so shut up! Ziggler knows Roman almost got hit by a car, but Ziggler actually got Speared by Goldberg three times! Now the Goldberg chants begin. Ziggler says it’s bad enough to get Speared out of nowhere three times, because he thought Goldberg had to wait six months after each one. Then he got Sweet Chin Music’d and tapped out to the Miz’s parody of Ric Flair’s move!

Ziggler knows Roman is the big man around here, but #ItShouldBeDZ! And then SUPERKICK cheap shot! Ziggler is man enough for this match now! “You Still Suck!” but the referee checks on Roman. Roman shakes the cobwebs out and wants this match. The bell rings and Roman uppercuts Ziggler out of the ring! Roman still steadies himself, and he spots Ziggler crawling outside. Roman goes out and comes around the side, FLYING- No, Ziggler sends him into barriers! ZIGZAG to the floor! Both men are down on the ground while Raw goes to break.

Raw returns and Ziggler has Roman in a chinlock. Ziggler kicks Roman’s knees then punches him to a corner. Ziggler soaks up the heat before running in, but Roman puts him way out of the ring! Roman catches his breath while Ziggler rolls on the ground. A ring count begins and Ziggler gets back to his feet at 5. Roman goes out and comes around again, Drive-By Dropkick hits! Roman throws Ziggler back in then dodges Ziggler’s attack for the leaping lariat! Fans fire up with The Big Dog as he gives Ziggler the point-blank lariats! Roman gets all 10, then runs to BOOT Ziggler down! Roman gets to a corner then locks ‘n’ loads! But Ziggler dodges and rolls Roman up, TWO! Satellite DDT! Cover, TWO! Ziggler grows frustrated but fans are rallying up. Roman sits up and Ziggler stalks him from behind. Ziggler wants Roman to stand, and runs in, but the ZigZag is denied.

Roman ducks but Ziggler sunset flips, TWO! Famouser countered into a powerbomb, but Ziggler pops out to send Roman into a post! ZIGZAG AGAIN! Cover, TWO!! Roman survives and Ziggler can’t believe it! Both men are down again but fans continue to rally. Ziggler grins as he goes to a corner to tune up the band. Fans boo as Ziggler watches Roman stand. Ziggler runs over, but the kick is blocked! Roman spins Ziggler for a SUPERMAN PUNCH! Cover, TWO!! Ziggler shocks Roman! But Roman refocuses, and fires himself up. The fans fire up, too, as the battle cry is let out. But Ziggler counters spear into Famouser! Cover, TWO!! Ziggler can’t believe how close he is! Fans are cheering Roman on as Ziggler argues with the ref. Ziggler toys with Roman now, “I’m better than you!”

Ziggler says Roman had his chance and blew it. He starts slapping Roman around, then chokes Roman in the corner. The ref backs Ziggler off, and Ziggler comes in, to get a SPEAR!! Cover, Roman wins!

Winner: Roman Reigns, by pinfall

And once again, Ziggler’s ego gets the better of him! Roman wins tonight, but will his mystery assailant, or assailants, still try something before the night is over?

Becky Lynch speaks.

“Last week, Sasha Banks beat me stupid with a chair. “And we all want to know why. Why is Becky daring the Women’s Division to come after her? Because she wants the best, most aggressive version of everyone coming after her. Becky wants to fight the best, to fight everyone at their peak, and that is where Sasha is now. So Becky won’t be mad at her. Four months ago, Sasha ran away crying because her career went cold as ice. But now she’s hotter than ever. Why is that? What changed in those four months that made her this way? Nothing. It’s what Becky did. Sasha is the greatest on the roster to never be great.

So Becky directs this at Sasha: swing your chair and wear your dollar store glasses. But Becky did more work to keep Sasha here than Sasha did. Why did it take The Man to get the real Boss? The greats don’t need to be goaded into greatness, they seek greatness out. This is a cat ‘n’ mouse game, and then Becky will give Sasha something to run home about. Strong words from a strong champion, but what will Sasha’s response be in just a moment?

The King’s Court returns!

Jerry Lawler can tell Becky will want retribution on The Boss in the near future. But Jerry wants to remind everyone that the King of the Ring begins tonight! And The King loves this tournament. It’s not only a title, it can also be a launching pad. Legends like Bret Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin and even Brock Lesnar were Kings of the Ring. The next few weeks will whittle 16 superstars down to one King of the Ring! Before Jerry names his pick, let’s take a look at that bracket!

Divided into Raw and SmackDown sides, we already know tonight will feature Cesaro VS Samoa Joe and Cedric Alexander VS Sami Zayn, but Raw will also have Ricochet VS Drew McIntyre and The Miz VS Baron Corbin! For SmackDown, there will be Kevin Owens VS Elias, Mustafa Ali VS Buddy Murphy in an incredible 205 Live rematch, Chad Gable VS Shelton Benjamin in a battle of former tag partners, and Apollo Crews VS Andrade Almas in a return of their rivalry just earlier this Summer.

Back to King, he likes quite a lot of those superstars. His Raw finalists will be Cedric and Ricochet, while SmackDown’s… Oh no. Not the lights! King saw the past few weeks, he’s bugging out! Jerry heads back for commentary, but too late!! When the lights come back on, King is surrounded by the strobe! The Fiend is behind him!! And the mandible claw clamps on!! Bray Wyatt smothers The King!! No King’s Court, no venue for The Boss to tell her side of things. Who will be The Fiend’s next victim?

Ricochet & The Miz VS Drew McIntyre & Baron Corbin!

The One and Only unites with the Hollywood A-Lister for a truly AWESOME duo to face off their respective King of the Ring opponents! Who wins this sampler before they compete in the tournament next week?

Ricochet hits McIntyre and slips out of Corbin’s back suplex. Corbin slides out then in, but misses to be baited into an enziguri! Somersault shotgun dropkick drops Corbin! Cover, ONE! Ricochet isn’t deterred, he runs corner to corner for a shoulder tackle and big kick! Springboard flying clothesline! Ricochet roars into his standing shooting star! Cover, but McIntyre breaks it!

Miz is after McIntyre and Ricochet helps. McIntyre shoves them away then BOOTS Miz! McIntyre grabs Ricochet and tosses him across the way! Ricochet crashes down and McIntyre takes aim. But Ricochet shoulders Corbin back, springboards again, but into a Choke Slam- to land on his feet! But Ricochet runs into DEEP SIX! Cover, TWO!! Ricochet lives and Corbin is furious. Ricochet kicks Corbin away, leaps for a missile dropkick! Ricochet goes corner to corner, but Corbins ends him into buckles. Miz saves Ricochet and Corbin gets a RECOIL! Cover, RIcochet and Miz win!

Winners: Ricochet & The Miz, Ricochet pinning

The King of Flight and Mr. Most Must-See get a huge win, but will both men win their respective matches in the tournament?

Sasha Banks arrives.

With no King’s Court, the Boss will explain herself on a sit-down interview later tonight.

Booker T is here via Skype!

King Booker knows what just happened to Jerry, The Fiend is like a rabid dog. You either put them down or run away. Jerry was in the wrong place at the wrong time. But to King of the Ring, Booker is of course a former King, #KingBookah was a great king. What did that tournament win mean to him? Thinking to Harley Race, God rest his soul, or King Randy Savage, being a King of the Ring winner definitely puts you in great company and catapults you to great heights. Who does Booker thing will win this year? There are a lot of great stars this year, but his pick is #KingMcIntyre! Will the prediction come true?

WWE United States Championship: AJ Styles w/ The OC VS Braun Strowman!

The Phenomenal One didn’t like that the Monster Among Men ruined The OC’s official, original and only beat down of Seth Rollins and Ricochet that mattered, so he gave Strowman this chance to fight for the title! Obviously Strowman accepted, but will he be able to #GetTheseHands on his first singles championship in the WWE? Or will Gallows and Anderson be a critical factor again?

The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we begin!

Styles gets face to face with Strowman, or as much as he can with the height difference. Styles SLAPS Strowman but then avoids him in the corner. The chop block hurts Styles more than it does Strowman. Strowman shoves and runs Styles over! Styles flounders out of the ring but Strowman comes around the way! Styles runs while the OC get clear! Styles hits Strowman ash e gets back int he ring, but the ref counts. Strowman grabs Styles and lifts but Styles escapes. Styles mule kicks and stomps the leg, but runs into a pop-up back drop! Styles forearms Strowman away, then springboards, but into a SWAT of the hand!

Strowman drags Styles up, but here come the Good Brothers! YAKUZA KICK! Dropkick! BOOT!

Winner: Braun Strwoman, by disqualification; Styles retains the WWE United States Championship

The Good Brothers throw Strowman into a post! Strowman staggers into a ROUNDHOUSE! Then they ram Strowman into another post! Gallows drags Strowman out but here comes Seth Rollins! The Architect returns the favor as he takes on the Raw Tag Team Champions! SUPERKICK for Gallows! SUPERKICK for Anderson! Rollins clotheslines Gallows out and the OC is on the retreat! Rollins checks on Strowman, and they shake hands. But Strowman doesn’t let go… At least, not at first. Are these two unlikely allies? Or simply working together against a common enemy?

Seth Rollins catches up with Braun Strowman.

The Architect knows what is going on amidst all this teaming up. If Rollins could make matches, Strowman would definitely be a challenger for his title. But for now, they need to go after The OC. How about going for the Raw Tag titles first? Strowman likes that. A man of few words, that’s good. Will the McMahons approve of this match up of Monster and Beastslayer?

King of the Ring Raw Bracket: Samoa Joe VS Cesaro!

The Samoan Destroyer could make grandiose promises, but the truth is that the king has spoken. But will he dismantle the Swiss Cyborg on the way to the throne?

The bell rings and the tournament truly begins as Cesaro hits Joe with a HARD European Uppercut! Cover, TWO!! Joe gets to a corner but Cesaro is on him fast. Joe grimaces as he looms over Cesaro. Joe drags Cesaro around for a neck wrench. Cesaro endures the twisting as fans build to a rally. Cesaro goes after Joe’s fingers! Joe uppercuts Cesaro! Joe argues with the ref about not reprimanding Cesaro, but Joe shrugs that off to drop a back senton, that misses! Cesaro got clear just in time and now both men are down. Joe stands but Cesaro follows with another EuroUpper! And more EuroUppers in the corner! From all sides! Cesaro runs, to BOOT Joe down! Cover, TWO! Joe just escapes but Cesaro won’t let up. Cesaro goes to suplex, but Joe is too big and strong. Joe suplexes Cesaro but Cearo resists, to get Joe up! He can’t hold Joe up, but tries again, and succeeds! Both men are down again but Cesaro crawls to a cover, TWO!

Fans cheer while Cesaro catches his breath. Cesaro drags Joe back up but Joe CHOPS him again! And again! Joe runs but Cesaro blasts him with another EuroUpper! Joe bails out and Cesaro follows. Cesaro goes around the side, for another EuroUpper! Joe falls but Cesaro puts him back in. Cesaro then goes to the far corner and climbs up. Cesaro flies for a crossbody! Cover, TWO! Cesaro sits deep, then shifts to a crossface! Joe rolls him to a cover, TWO as Cesaro lets go.

Cesaro throws more EuroUppers, but Joe back drops out. Cesaro springboards, into the COQUINA! Joe has Cesaro down, Cesaro taps, Joe wins!!

Winner: Samoa Joe, by submission; advances to the next round

The first step has been taken, and the sinister Samoan Submission Machine is that much closer to the crown. Who will he meet after Ricochet and McIntyre have it out?

Ladies and Gentlemen: Elias.

The Drifter is in Minneapolis, but something is wrong with his sound. He has terrible news. Grab your loved ones and pull them close, because tonight is a night you won’t forget. This is Elias’ farewell performance. He has so much going on in his life, like these technical difficulties… Being the Uncrowned King of the Ring AND WWE 24/7 Champion is just too much, he cannot risk being out here live every week. But fear not, because he will leave us with an emotional ballad they’ll remember forever. So please silence cell phones, hold your applause and shut your mouths! Elias plays, but his guitar is way out of tune> Who is responsible for this?! There’s a reason for sound checks. Someone get him a guitar.

A guitar flops over. Pick it up and hand it to him! The stage hand slides in, but he looks familiar. He hands the guitar to Elias, but then reveals… It’s R-Truth! Elias sees the referee! Truth rolls Elias up!! TWO, and Truth tries again with a small package. TWO, but Truth kicks low. Truth hits the scissors kick! Cover, TWO!! Elias survives and Truth grows desperate. Truth grabs Elias’ guitar! And he takes aim at Elias! Fans chant “YES! YES!” as he swings, but Elias gets clear! Elias still has Truth’s “baby” but he also has a King of the Ring match coming up soon. Will Elias be able to retain and take a step closer to the throne?

Backstage interview with Rey Mysterio.

The King of Lucha Libre has been somber and cryptic as of late, mostly brought on by a shocking losing streak. He mentioned his family, so what can he tell us about that? Mysterio thanks everyone for their time and this forum to speak openly. He wants us to believe him when he says he is a fortunate man with a beautiful family and a wonderful career. Mysterio has wrestled since he was a little boy. He has inspired people all around the world. But recently, things just haven’t been clicking. And Andrade Almas ripping his mask, that is a disgrace! In lucha culture, that is the biggest insult. But the biggest thing is that Mysterio has failed to get back at Almas. Mysterio sees things several steps ahead, but his body can’t keep up. He’s had injuries, but his fear is that they’ve all caught up to him.

Mysterio takes a moment to compose himself before he says that “this day” comes to everyone at some point. But he just didn’t think it’d be today. Mysterio understands now that it is time to hang up the boots and the mask. Mysterio must let the new generation rise up. But Dominique stops his father from removing the mask on air! He wants his father to hear him out for a moment. Mysterio said Dominique’s debut would be by his father’s side. And he promised not to change a thing from the original Mysterio’s lessons. Dominique wants to tell his children, Mysterio’s grandchildren, that the great Rey Mysterio Jr was his partner. Please keep wrestling, so that Dominique can make him proud. Mysterio will, for his son. They hug, and it seems the legend will continue a little while longer.

The New Day VS The Revival!

AWWWWW~ Twin Cityyyy~! Xavier Woods and Big E bring their SmackDown Tag Team Championships over per the Wild Card Rule to show Raw how it’s done! Orton has the Revival bring Woods around to “break his legs!” Throwback to NXT, Dawson has the deathlock, but Orton has Dash wait. Because Orton drags Kofi over to watch! Dash leaps to STOMP Woods’ knee!! Woods screams and writhes in agony and Kofi can only reach out in vain. Fans boo the heartless actions of Orton and his new cohorts, but is this only the beginning of the nightmares for the New Day?

Sasha Banks is ready for her interview.

The Boss was to be on King’s Court, but The Fiend stopped that before it began. Sasha attacked Natalya out of nowhere, can she explain her actions? Sasha says it has been a very emotional week for her, and she will start from the beginning. Last week, she looked in the mirror, and she told herself, “Blue is your color!” Isn’t it? It’s all over social media, “She looks good! She’s better than ever!” Sasha will show up, show out, and not only dose she look good, she feels better. Michael Cole says the hair is not the news, it’s her attack on Natty on a night when Natty was herself emotional. And then she fought a fellow NXT Horsewomen. Why last week? Why at all? Sasha gets serious, and simply says, “You’re welcome.” She gets up and leaves, but will we ever hear the answers?

Nikki Cross & Alexa Bliss VS Fire & Desire!

The Loony Lass and the Goddess are determined to be the fightingest team in the short history WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. The titles aren’t on the lien tonight but Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville could earn a shot with a win. Will they beat the “odd couple” on the road to Clash of Champions?

The Women’s Tag Team Champions survive a fast and furious match! Will they be able to keep up this pace? Or will these #TinyTerrors eventually be caught?

Rollins and Strowman prepare backstage.

AJ Styles can’t get involved or it will be a disqualification. The OC are bad dudes but they’re not these two. Strowman, c’mon. Before the Universal Championship, focus on these championships. Follow Rollins’ lead and they might be tag team champions. Strowman is focused, but he is the leader, so that they will become tag team champions. Will Beastslayer and Monster be able to coexist and take the gold from the Good Brothers?

King of the Ring Raw Bracket: Sami Zayn VS Cedric Alexander!

Another opening round match pits the Critic of the Critics against a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion. The Age of Alexander is ready to rise again while Sami would rather just lord the accomplishment over the WWE Universe. Will Sami save his WWE career at the expense of Alexander?

Winner: Cedric Alexander, by pinfall; advances to the next round

The Age of Alexander takes that first step to a resurrection on Raw! But will he be facing The Miz or Baron Corbin in the second round?

The Street Profits check their brackets.

Montez Ford’s got it good but Angelo Dawkins already has a bust. He thought it would be Cesaro taking it to the finals. It’s fine, you can still make up for it in the SmackDown side. Andrade VS Apollo, KO VS Elias! Then on Raw, Miz VS Corbin, McIntyre VS Ricochet! Wait, wait. Why isn’t there some kind of tag team tournament? Kings of the Ring. Silly Dawkins, the Street Profits are already kings up in this piece. Ford has his crown, gold on his neck, but wait. The OC defending their Raw Tag Team Championships against Seth Freakin’ BRAUN-LINS! That is going to be a spectacular, show-stopping, heart-dropping match! And that match is… NEXT!

Anderson and Gallows don’t get this.

Rollins and Strowman don’t deserve a match! But Styles says this is how the OC can truly prove they’re the greatest trio! They can show that the Universal Champion and the Monster are no match for them! Too Sweet, boys!

Natalya speaks.

“I just came from the WWE doctors, again.” One week since baring her soul to the world. Between preparing for her SummerSlam match to nearing the anniversary of her father’s passing, Natty expected things to be emotional. She did not expect Sasha Banks to do what she did. Sasha was Natty’s friend. One of her closest. That is why Natty can’t understand why Sasha would do this! Then all Sasha does this week is smirk and laugh- SASHA ATTACKS AGAIN! She throws Natty around while daring her to keep talking. She puts the bad arm in an open drawer and STOMPS it! “Go to Hell, Natty, and tell Daddy I said hi.” Just why is Sasha treating everyone like this?!

Raw Tag Team Championships: The OC w/ AJ Styles VS Seth Rollins & Braun Strowman!

The favor was returned, and now Beastslayer and Monster Among Men look to really stick it to the Good Brothers. Can Rollins become a dual Universal and tag team champion alongside an unlikely ally? Or will the original, official and only team that matters still be Gallows and Anderson?

Raw returns as the champions make their entrance. Strowman glares at them all as they make their way out. The introductions are made, the belts are raised, and Styles talks trash the entire time. The teams sort out, and we start with Gallows and Strowman. Gallows talk trash but Strowman shoves him back. The two men tie up and Strowman puts Gallows in a corner for big hands! Strowman runs and runs Gallows over! The Monster roars and brings Gallows over to tag Rollins. Rollins drops a punch into Gallows then wrenches the arm. Gallows haymakers Rollins off his feet, then bumps him in the OC corner. Gallows throws hands on the bad ribs, then tags Anderson. Anderson puts Rollins in another corner to also go after the ribs. The ref backs him off but Anderson comes back, to get a CHOP!

Rollins backs Anderson down with haymakers and CHOPS! Anderson reverses the whip but Rollins kicks him back and clotheslines him down! Rollins drags Anderson up for a suplex, but Anderson slips out to waistlock. Rollins standing switches but Gallows tags in. Rollins knees Gallows and tosses Anderson out. Raw returns once more, and Rollins fights out of an armlock. Rollins punches but Anderson reaches for Gallows. Anderson whips Rollins but Rollins kicks back. Rollins hits Gallows but runs into the SPINEBUSTER! Cover, TWO!! Rollins survives despite the bad ribs, but Anderson is right on him again. Anderson hoists Rollins up top and throws hands. Anderson punches Rollins then climbs up to join him. Rollins resists the superplex, but Anderson keeps trying. Rollins fights back and sends Anderson down with a headbutt! Winners: Braun Strowman & Seth Rollins, Strowman pinning; NEW Raw Tag Team Champions

The Architect is a DUAL Raw Tag Team and Universal Champion! Strowman himself is a two-time tag team champion! Is this duo going to dominate all the way through Clash of Champions? How is Rollins going to handle the extra target on his back? Especially if Strowman is aiming for that top prize…

My Thoughts:

A pretty solid episode of Raw right here. One thing about tonight was that it all went smoothly for a faster pace to the show. Nothing really dragged on and nothing was filler, per se. Reigns VS Ziggler was a match that didn’t necessarily need to happen, but it was such a good match because these two really are among the best workers in the WWE right now. Bliss-Cross VS Fire & Desire was a pretty solid match and a good sampler of what could be a Women’s Tag Championship match. The New Day VS Revival was a great match, and a truly surprising appearance by Orton. Orton making Kofi watch as Woods has his knee kayfabe busted was some powerful stuff, and definitely brings into question if New Day can defend the SmackDown Tag titles at Clash of Champions. This story could even turn into Kofi having to defend both the tag titles and the world title via Freebird rules.

In fact, there might be some parallels in the world and Universal title stories. Sadly it was all but obvious Strowman wasn’t going to win that United States title just on how The OC were there to be with Styles. Rollins making the save i return made a lot of sense, and even wanting to have a tag match made sense. The tag titles being thrown on top of it was a nice touch but I would’ve thought Styles helps the OC retain. But wouldn’t you know, Rollins has another tag title reign and is the first superstar to be dual Universal and Raw Tag champion in their career. More boosting to Rollins’ resume, though at the expense of the OC. However, here come the parallels I mentioned. Whether or not Styles finds a new opponent for his US title, Strowman clearly wants the Universal Championship. Rollins will surely have to worry about his Raw Tag title and top title, but the question is how all that comes about.

I could easily see Strowman ditching Rollins for them to lose the tag titles if it helps him win the Universal title, though that could also turn into Rollins surviving Strowman to leave Strowman with nothing. There’s ways for Styles to get thrown into the mix, and some of this unpredictability is really good. I don’t think this will come down to a new Winner Takes All scenario, but there has to be some double duty pulled by someone in this. This could also involve some of the King of the Ring results. Joe VS Cesaro was so good! It is a shame this wasn’t a later match-up because that is how good this match was. Alexander VS Sami was a pretty good match, too, but it was pretty fast. Sami’s been getting buried ever since the start of this Critic of the Critics thing, but at least we’re a step closer to Alexander VS McIntyre in the Raw Finals. And those who will end up losing this tournament, except for Sami, could easily go against Styles. It would be a shame for Ricochet to be out in the opening round, but another US title match would be a great consolation.

The Raw Women’s Championship story was an interesting one tonight, and perhaps controversial. First, The Fiend attacking Jerry Lawler, another great shocking appearance and it keeps Bray consistent in going after legends. Second, Becky has a great promo to respond to Sasha’s actions, and Sasha has a solid “interview” promo as a partial response. However, where things might go sideways is when Sasha attacks Natty backstage. And not even the attack, but Sasha’s line about going to Hell and the late Jim Neidhart. It seems that while WWE have learned how to book their women, they still haven’t learned how to write their women. I remember back to both the Bella VS Bella story and the Paige VS Charlotte story, there being lines that were just a bit too controversial all for the sake of escalating things. But this will blow over quickly so let’s just focus on the chances of Natty coming back for revenge on Sasha at some point, and the possibility of all four NXT Horsewomen being on the Clash of Champions card.

My Score: 8.2/10

NXT UK Media catches up with Joe Coffey backstage.

Joe is singing, “This is what it means to be Gallus~! We’ll be champions again as you know~!” Joe stops singing to say that IS what it means to be Gallus. Did you see that match? The UK Championship escaped him two times before, but at the end of this tournament, there will be one man standing! This will be Joe’s kingdom! Gallus Boys On Top!! Coffey is all fired up, but will he finally be a golden Iron King?

Amale VS Nina Samuels!

The French Hope has wanted her own road back to the top title, but there are many obstacles in her way. There’s Blair Davenport, Eliza Alexander and Isla Dawn for sure, but the Leading Lady isn’t exactly helping things by trying to boost her ratings using Amale. Will Amale make sure the Nina Samuels Show is taken off the air once and for all?

The bell rings and fans rally behind the “FRENCH HOPE! FRENCH HOPE!” Amale and Nina circle, tie up, and are in a deadlock. Amale headlocks, grinds, but Nina powers up, only for Amale to hold tight. Winner: Amale, by pinfall

Another great win for Amale, but will it be enough to convince management she deserves a title opportunity? Amale tells Blair, Eliza and Isla that they better be watching, because they’re next!

NXT UK Media catches up with Oliver Carter.

He gets another check up with the trainer, and he knows they want to know how his leg is doing. It’s all good, but then Trent Seven walks over to say, “But is it, though? Because to me, Oliver Carter, that looks like a very, very heavily bandaged and braced left knee.” What Seven suggests is Carter just gives up now and lets Seven go the finals. Go on, say it. Carter will say it. If Carter remembers last time, when Carter & Smith faced Seven & Bate, they made Moustache Mountain into ex-champions.

Seven says yes, that did happen. But it was also the most important and pivotal moment in Seven’s career. Because now, the WWE Universe and Carter get to see the REAL Trent seven. And the real Trent Seven will break that leg!

Ilja Dragunov speaks.

“This is my message for every competitor in the NXT UK Championship Tournament. Impressive, inspiring, how every single one of you are willing to give everything they have for this prestigious prize. And I’m curious to know who will take my place as the champion. But pay attention to the wording: MY place. Whoever you will be, you better sleep well, fight hard, because the second, the very second I will be back, I will throw my entire existence in front of you in a way you haven’t ever seen before. Long Live the Czar!”

The former headmaster crashed a lecture, and now Professor Chase and his star pupil are ready to give him a #TeachableMoment! But will the Welsh Dragon be able to guide the Divine Beast of the Astral Plane to victory? Or will they fail Chase U’s test?

Dennis is already trying to teach Huxley some self control in his energy, but Huxley just runs the ropes like the wild man he is! The teams sort out and fans taunt Dennis as he starts against Chase. The teachers circle, tie up, and Chase wrenches the arm. Chase hits an ELBOW BREAKER, then wristlocks. Dennis spins through, wrenches and waistlocks then spins Chase for an arm-drag! Dennis tells Huxley to learn from that catch-as-catch-can! Chase and Dennis reset and circle again. They tie up, Dennis wrenches to a wristlock but Chase rolls, handsprings and lips through to a top wristlock and arm-drag!

Chase SLAPS Dennis on the head! That was a TEACHABLE MOMENT! Dennis rushes in, but into a RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP! The fans spell out Chase U as Chase stomps away on Dennis! Huxley whips Chase again, and again, and Chase is being worn out by the buckles! Dennis shouts at Huxley, “What’re you doing, ya moron?!”

Huxley stomps whipping Chase around and Dennis tells him to finish it off! But Chase avoids the elbow drop! Fans rally up and Chase crawls, as does Huxley! Hot tags to Bodhi and Dennis! Bodhi CLOBBERS Dennis over and over, then runs through him to run him over! Bodhi fires up and STANDING SPLASHES! Cover, Huxley breaks it! NXT UK takes a closer look at the coming Heritage Cup Championship rematch.

Noam Dar says that NXT UK isn’t just here to watch the game, they’re here to change the game. That’s why they’re the only brand to use the Heritage Cup Rounds style. Mark Coffey adds that no one else has this. No one else produces the toughness that the UK does. The physical toughness, and the mental toughness. Dar says there’s nothing more competitive, and Mark says it’s like having six matches in one go. Step up or step aside! If you think you can do this, then EFFING C’MON THEN! That is what this cup is all about!

Mark says the Heritage Cup represents the history of pro-wrestling in the UK, and it is his honor to be carrying that forward. Dar says heritage is about giving thanks and praise to the legacy of this sport. James Mason, Johnny Moss, Robbie Brookside, Johnny Saint. Without those men, this brand wouldn’t be here. They do not let the past die. Mark is carrying their legacy while carving his own right next to theirs. Dar says to “all those old boys watching,” pat yourselves on the back. But Dar is here now, and all the levels those legends have set, Dar will best them. They can start thanking Dar now.

Mark says Dar is perhaps the greatest Heritage Cup Champion there’s ever been, but he also said he’d beat Dar without Sha in his corner, and look what happened. Dar isn’t here to talk about Sha. It’s never been about Sha, it’s been about Dar. Mark says Dar is lost without his corner man. But Dar says he’ll put away all the doubt and questions in the rematch. Fight IQ beats toughness, just like chess beats checkers, and like Dar beats Mark. Mark will bust through those rounds, those walls, and through Dar! Mark says the legacy is in his hands, because it is GALLUS’ KINGDOM! Next week, who wins the epic rematch to prove they are THE Heritage Cup Champion?

Vacated NXT UK Championship Tournament, Opening Round: Tyler Bate VS Kenny Williams!

Oliver Carter beat Charlie Dempsey and Trent Seven beat Wolfgang, giving us one semifinal match. Joe Coffey beat Mark Andrews to start the night, and he waits for the winner of this main event! Will the Big Strong Boy start towards a second NXT UK Championship reign? Or will the Scum of the Earth ruin all of that right here?

Mitchell’s AEW Dynamite Results & Report! (8/17/22)

American Dragon VS Dragonslayer!

AEW House of the Dragon

Dynamite becomes the House of the Dragon!

AEW has an epic rematch between Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia, in a Best Two Out of Three Falls match! Will Red Death truly slay the American Dragon?

  • Best 2 out of 3 Falls: Bryan Danielson VS Daniel Garcia; Bryan wins.
  • Tony Nese w/ Mark Sterling VS ???; No Contest.
  • Gunn Club VS The Varsity Blonds; Gunn Club wins.
  • Toni Storm VS KiLynn King; Storm wins.
  • AEW World Trios Championship Tournament, Opening Round: La Faccion Ingobernable VS The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega; The Bucks & Omega win and advance.

CM Punk is here!

The Best of the World is back and the fans in Charleston, West Virginia are fired up to see him! Especially since he has THE AEW World Championship belt on his shoulder. No stage diving this time, though, he’s being a bit more careful this time. Punk goes to the ring and gets the mic as fans chant his name. “I’m trying to put my tough guy game face on before I came out here, and you guys just ruined it all by making me smile. I don’t got the prettiest smile. What I do have is the prettiest belt! Haven’t been here in some time, and I’ve got some business to attend to. Some things very, very important. Some things not so important.

“I want to get the not so important things outta the way. Where are we? Where are wee tonight? There’s somebody from around these parts that I would like to challenge to a rematch and I would like to do it right here, right now, for you beautiful people.” Fans cheer for that, they wanna see it, too! Punk sits down cross-legged and tells Hangman Adam Page, “You want that rematch, you got it right here, right now. Let’s go!” Fans are fired up for the “Cowboy Sh*t” that could go down, but where is he? Punk checks his mic, but no Hangman, and fans boo. Punk says that’s why this isn’t important. That isn’t Cowboy Sh*t, that’s Coward Sh*t!

“A little bit of advice that I suggest you take: The apology must as loud and as public as the disrespect!” And if anyone else has a problem with THE CHAMPION, Punk suggests they come on down! “Everyone wants to be the champ until it’s time to do champ sh*t!” Fans agree with that as they chant Punk’s name. “Ladies and gentlemen, I understand that Jon Moxley’s got a lot of fans. And he can be number one in your heart, but he’s not number one in this ring. I am THE AEW Champion!!” Punk knows what it takes to be the best, to talk a big game and say you’re the best, and to breathe that into existence.

He also knows what it is like to lose. Punk has lost big, but Moxley has always been number two, there has always been someone who has Mox’s number, and it’s Punk! Boo if you want, but let him know when he’s lying. “Jon Moxley is the third best guy in his own group, and that seems to be a reoccurring theme in his career.” Fans are stunned to hear that. Punk says, “That doesn’t make him a bad guy, but that doesn’t make him the best either.” Punk is the best, but yes, Mox has been carrying the torch when Punk broke his foot. Moxley talks about breaking bones and drinking blood, but between the two of them, the only one’s who has broken bones is Punk! It was his own, but still!

So again, tell Punk when he’s telling lies. Moxley has been INTERIM AEW Champion. Look that word up, it means “temporary.” And Punk is willing to test himself against Moxley, but is Moxley willing to test himself against his best friends? Let’s talk about those friends. Mox’s best friend is the third best Eddie that Punk’s ever faced. And the second best Kingston! These people aren’t number one at anything! Tell Punk when he’s telling a lie! Fans have to admit, he’s got a point. Punk says he’s missed the fans, and he’s missed competing in the ring. He’s been wanting to defend this title on a PPV, and that will be All Out, September 4th, Chicago, Illinois!

Punk is ready to test his belt against Moxley’s “number two with a bullet.” Punk is willing to test his foot! The funny thing is, heading into Chicago, Moxley isn’t even the first Jon/John that Punk beats in Chicago for a title! And he’s certainly not number one there, either. But say his name enough and here he comes! Jon Moxley is heading to the ring but Punk taunts Moxley over the time he takes to make it to the ring. Punk does “mat angels” as Moxley and his AEW World Championship belt go through the crowd. Moxley does make it to ringside, he does get a mic and he does get in the ring to stand there across from Punk.

Fans cheer for Moxley, and Moxley says, “Look out, ladies and gentlemen, CM Punk is dropping pipe bombs! Doing what he does best: writing checks with his mouth that his body can’t cash.” Moxley makes sure to point at Punk’s foot with that. And Moxley tells Punk he’s living in a fantasy land! In Punk’s mind, he’s the best wrestler in the world. But most times, Punk’s not even the best wrestler in catering. Punk thinks his mic in his hand is power. But this is the real world, and that’s just a microphone. And all the words Punk says into it don’t mean sh*t. That belt on Punk’s shoulder don’t mean sh*t. Punk says, “Who’s living in a fantasy world now?”

Moxley says, “To be fair, right now, this belt don’t mean sh*t. Not until I beat you!” Moxley says he IS the heart and soul of AEW, and every time they call him “Interim,” he thinks of Punk and that makes him sick! Punks says, “Good! You can be the ‘heart and soul’, I’ll bet he dollars and the cents!” Both men throw the belts down and inch a bit closer. Punk asks Mox if he’s done talking. Mox says we all know Punk only came to AEW because he ran out of money, so don’t give Mox that. “Being the best is about heart and soul and guts and fighting spirit, and we both know that you ran out of fighting spirit a long time ago.”

Now both men are face to face! Mox says if Punk wants to prove him wrong, then do something about it. But Mox doesn’t think Punk’s gonna do sh*t. Punk says they have a match at the PPV, which Punk will soundly defeat Moxley in. But if Punk touches Moxley now, Punk’s afraid Moxley will just start bleeding all over him. They get forehead to forehead, Moxley puts his hands back behind him to give Punk an open shot. Punk pushes Moxley away, but Moxley comes back with a peck on the cheek! AND A SLAP! The haymakers start flying and fans are fired up for it! Moxley and Punk scrap, security and officials rush in, and fans boo!

Moxley and Punk are separated but Moxley throws off his shirt! Punk eggs Moxley on, security is a wall between them, and fans boo more. Moxley tosses his belt out of the ring, then eggs Punk on! Punk tries to get after Moxley, and Moxley LEAPS onto the pile! The scrum continues but is quickly broken up. Fans want to “LET THEM FIGHT!” and Moxley gets a chair! Moxley tosses it into the ring, and Punk uses it to take a seat! Punk eggs Mox on again, and Mox slides in! They make contact, but the security pulls them apart again! Fans boo some more, but Moxley finds an opening on the other side of the ring! The brawl is back on!

Wait, security just pulls them apart again. Fans boo as the ebb and flow just keeps going, but it seems we’ll all have to wait until Sunday, September 4th. What happens when Punk and Moxley go all out to determine an UNDISPUTED AEW World Champion?

Backstage interview with “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs.

Tony Schiavone is with Hobbs and references what we saw last week concerning himself, Ricky Starks and The Factory. Schiavone thought Starks & Hobbs were friends, so why did Hobbs betray Starks? Hobbs says he doesn’t need friends! “Ricky Starks, you proved to the whole world, your true colors came out, you told the world that you were okay with losing. I’m not okay with losing, Ricky! For two years, you got to walk around here and parade around like you’re some God’s gift to this business. You got to hide behind Powerhouse Hobbs’ back, because you knew I would get the job done.”

Hobbs was hired for one thing: make sure Starks stayed champion. And Starks couldn’t do it! Now Ricky, Hobbs not only breaks backs, he also breaks necks. And as far as The Factory goes, Hobbs has something for them, too! Will the Powerhouse turn into a juggernaut and demolish everyone in his way?

Best 2 out of 3 Falls: Bryan Danielson VS Daniel Garcia!

The American Dragon fought hard against Red Death, but was screwed over by The Wizard! Sounds like Game of Thrones, but it’s pro-wrestling! Or as the Jericho Appreciation Society calls it, “Sports Entertainment.” However, Bryan dares Garcia to look inside himself and decide: Is he the Best Technical Sports Entertainer? Or is he the Best Technical Pro-Wrestler? With Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat as the special guest timekeeper, will the Dragonslayer slay the American Dragon? Or will he JOIN the American Dragon in the Blackpool Combat Club?

But first, Chris Jericho joins commentary! Fans sing Judas for him as he joins Excalibur, Taz, and Good ol’ JR, then Bryan makes his entrance. Bryan shakes hands with Steamboat, then Garcia makes his entrance, complete with a new Dragonslayer logo on his tron. The bell rings on the first fall and fans rally up. The two circle, feel out the grapple, and Bryan shoots in to get a leg. Bryan trips Garcia but Garcia fights back and trips Bryan. Garcia goes for a leg, but Bryan trips him back and rains down forearms! Garcia guards but Bryan moves around. Garcia slips out, back mounts, but Bryan stands up.

Garcia is a backpack but Bryan snapmares and rolls! It’s a rough landing but Garcia holds on, then he drags Bryan around. Bryan slips out, throws body shots from above, then has a KNEEBAR! Bryan’s busted open from a DDT to bare concrete that happened during the break, but it isn’t too bad yet. Garcia drags Bryan from the ropes, kicks him more, and fans rally up. Bryan huffs and puffs as Garcia keeps kicking, and fans fire up! Bryan KICKS and KICKS and KICKS Garcia’s leg, but Garcia WRINGS the arm! Then omoplata, and the DRAGON SLEEPER! Bryan fights up, so Garcia INVERTED SUPLEXES him, and still has the DRAGON SLEEPER!

Bryan endures so Garcia rains down HAMMER ‘N’ ANVIL ELBOWS! Fans boo as the DRAGON SLEEPER is back on! But Bryan rolls forward to make it a cover, and he gets the fall!!

Bryan: 1; Garcia: 1

And now we’re all tied up! Garcia can’t believe it but the fans are thunderous! Now it’s sudden death! And Garcia hammers away on Bryan’s bloody forehead! Winner: Bryan Danielson, by submission, 2-1

Sports Entertainer or Pro-Wrestler, those are just labels, because this was a battle of two fighters! But in the end, Garcia falls and Bryan is the winner! And yet, Garcia’s fighting spirit keeps him reaching for Bryan. Bryan and the fans applaud for the heart the Dragonslayer has, but did what Bryan say last week get through to Garcia? Is Garcia going to be BCC? Bryan offers Garcia a hand but Garcia stands up on his own. Jericho leaves commentary to CLOBBER Bryan! Jericho rains down fists because he’s the sore loser here! But Garcia pushes Jericho away?! Fans fire up for that, but Jericho is confused and furious!

Jericho asks Garcia why he just did that. Is he thinking of changing? Garcia slaps the accusing finger away! Jericho points his other finger, because he wants Garcia to think long and hard about what he does next. Fans chant “You’re a Wrestler!” at Garcia, but will he listen to them? Or will he still follow the Jericho Appreciation Society?

Backstage interview with Private Party and Swerve In Our Glory.

Schiavone notes that this Friday on Rampage, it will be these two teams fighting over the AEW World Tag Team Championships. Swerve says “You’re welcome, by the way.” Marq Quen asks, “For what? Last week, you guys disrespected us, talking about how we’re not ranked. In case you haven’t noticed, we’re number five!” Isiah Kassidy makes sure Swerve knows it by holding up five fingers. Keith Lee steps forward and Private Party steps back. Schiavone steps in to remind them all of the No Physicality Agreement.

Swerve says Private Party’s been here how long and this is the closest they’ve gotten to the tag titles? “Winning ain’t nothing new to Swerve In Our Glory, Keith Lee and myself. You need to respect your elders, because you could learn a thing or two from us.” Keith adds, “And after you Swerve In Our Glory, then you can walk your happy asses back down the ladder.” Kassidy says Keith embarrassed him once. It won’t happen again. And on top of that, Private Party takes these titles back to New York. FACTS. BLAOW! See you Friday, baby. Kassidy & Quen are confident now, but will they be popping bottles or sharing ice packs after Rampage?

Tony Nese w/ Mark Sterling VS ???

But wait! Moxley attacks the Premier Athlete on the stage! And then he CLOBBERS Smart Mark! Then Moxley storms to the ring and grabs the mic! “C M PUNK! I’ve been waiting too damn long for you to come back, I’m sick of waiting! You wanna unify these belts? I say let’s do it right now! Let’s get this sh*t over with!” Fans are ready for that, too! Moxley throws off his hoodie and waits, and here comes Punk! But officials and security try to stop him before he gets to ringside! Moxley rushes out to meet him at the ramp! Fans fire up as they brawl but again they are separated! Moxley returns to the ring, Punk pursues, and the security swarm in again!

Fans boo as Punk is dragged away from the ring. The BCC’s Claudio and Yuta even show up to hold Moxley back. As much as Moxley and Punk want this fight, everyone else in AEW is doing their best to delay this until All Out! Moxley storms off through the crowd and the BCC follow, will this grudge even wait for September?

Backstage interview with the Jericho Appreciation Society.

Schiavone has Matthew Menard, Angelo Parker, and Chris Jericho himself, and brings up what we saw at the end of Bryan VS Garcia. Is there possibly some dissention in the ranks? Jericho says he is giving “Danny” a pass for tonight, that was hell of a match. Maybe after getting dropped on his head, he’s a little fuzzy and didn’t realize what he was doing putting his hands on Jericho. Maybe Garcia is wavering back and forth between Bryan and Jericho, but we need to know for sure. Next week, live on Dynamite, Jericho wants to talk with Garcia, face to face, in the ring, man to man! Whose side is Garcia on? Garcia better make the right choice.

But then Ricky Steamboat walks in! He tells Jericho that he’s watched Garcia. And that young kid is coming into his own. Jericho agrees, but then Steamboat says Garcia doesn’t need Jericho or Menard & Parker. Jericho is the same guy Steamboat knew 14, 15 years ago. The same hair, same get up and go. If anyone should mentor Garcia, Steamboat says Bryan is the better choice. Oh, really? Is that what you think, Steamboat? Typical goody-two-shoes Steamboat! Jericho hasn’t liked Steamboat for those same 15 years, so he better keeps his hands off Jericho and stay out of his business! Jericho storms off, and Parker tells Steamboat to stay out of their business!

Parker tells Steamboat to look at him when he’s talking! Stay out of- BOP! Steamboat’s still got a hard right! Will that teach the JAS not to anger The Dragon?

Gunn Club VS The Varsity Blonds!

Austin & Colten lost in the Dumpster Match but they did beat #Beardhausen. And yet, Daddy Ass is still not happy with how his sons are competing. Will they finally get Papa Gunn’s approval? Or will Brian Pillman Jr. & Griff Garrison expose them as the Ass Boys they are?

The teams sort out and Austin starts with the Ivy League MVP. Fans taunt the “ASS~ BOYS!” and Griff adds on. Austin frowns as he circles with Griff, but then he SUCKER PUNCHES BPJ! Then he CLOBBERS Griff! Colten tags in, he CLOBBES Griff, then LARIATS him! Colten reels Griff up, and hits the COLT 45!! Cover, Gunn Club wins!!

Winners: Gunn Club, by pinfall

Quick on the draw and that gets Austin & Colten the win! Fans boo but Billy gets the mic. “Hold on, hold on. That right there is what I’ve been trying to tell you for the past couple weeks. That’s what you have to do. That’s what gets things done. Just to know that I am super proud of you. I have been hard on you, but I am proud of you.” And Billy says he has done a lot of really great things in his career. But the one thing that has been able to work is these two right here, that is a fact. The Gunns hug it out and fans boo. But then here comes Stokely Hathaway! Is he still trying to recruit the Gunn sons? WAIT, AUSTIN ATTACKS BILLY!

Billy staggers from the blindside, then Colt DECKS him!! The fans can’t believe the sons are turning on their father! They’re raining down fists and choking him out! But here comes THE ACCLAIMED! Max Caster & Anthony Bowens slide in to run the Ass Boys off! Bowens gets the mic, and fans fire up as he and Caster look to Billy. Bowens offers the scissors! “SCISSOR ME, DADDY ASS!!” And they do~! Will Billy and his boys take out Stokely and Billy’s sons?

AEW shares exclusive footage from last week.

Sonjay Dutt, Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh were fuming over Wardlow & FTR running them off! Sonjay thought Wardlow was a big man who could do it all! Wardlow could take out Sonjay, Lethal and Satnam all at once! But no, he can’t do nothing! He needed back up in Cash & Dax! So how ’bout this?! Trios match! Wardlow & FTR VS Lethal, Sonjay & Satnam, the biggest show of the year, ALL OUT! Sonjay swears to punch them in the face! Lethal says that they beat Wardlow down so bad, FTR noticed and felt bad for him, that’s why they came to help him. But now FTR’s made an enemy out of the three of these guys! Lethal doesn’t respect FTR!

Satnam dares Wardlow to try and powerbomb him. Will Lethal and company be the ones regretting challenging the faction formerly known as The Pinnacle to a fight?

Death Triangle speaks.

Pac is back from his All-Atlantic Championship defense tour, and he calls out the United Empire’s Aussie Open and “William Ospreay.” Or rather, “Billy.” And “Billy” apparently likes to parade around the industry like the very best Britain has ever produced. “Well I beg to differ. And me and you, bonnie lad, we have unfinished business. So let’s just say, I’m looking forward to next week. Very much so.” And with his brothers beside him, his familia, they’re an unstoppable unit built for this tournament! And if you haven’t heard just how dangerous they are, well you must’ve had your head in a box. “Gentlemen, we’ll see you in Cleveland. I hope you’re ready.” Will Penta, Fenix and the Bastard be the ones conquering the Empire in The Land?

Jungle Boy is here!

Charleston loves seeing Jungle Jack Perry and his pyro! JB goes to the ring and gets a mic while fans sing along with his theme song. Fans chant his name and JB says, “Thank you, thank you. A couple weeks ago, I came out here with a special T-shirt on. And it actually got me in a lot of trouble. I was asked, ‘Please, never wear that shirt on television again ever.'” Fans boo the censorship and JB agrees, but it was fair. “But boy, oh boy, did that shirt hit the nail on the head. Because for weeks now, I have tried to hit Christian Cage every chance I got. I tried to hit him with my  hands, I tried to hit him with a chair, I even tried to hit him with a car.”

And Christian has done absolutely nothing in return! Like, JB personally, he’d never just take that, but that’s him. So the way JB sees it, either he can continue to chase Christian as long as he has to until he gets his hands on Christian, which he will. Or… Christian can man up and face JB at ALL OUT!! Fans like the sound of that! Unless, of course, that shirt was right, and Christian Cage is just too big of a- Wait! Here comes Captain Charisma after all! Christian says hold on a second here! “So Jungle Boy, you’re challenging me to a match at All Out, huh? Well, my answer… is NO!” Fans boo because they knew he’d say that!

Christian says this isn’t for why they all think. We saw last week that Luchasaurus plowed through security, and then got himself suspended for headbutting an official in the head! This is getting out of hand! Christian wants JB to know that at the end of the day, Christian is proud of him. JB is confident now, speaking for himself, when a little over a year ago, it was like he was from right here in Charleston and couldn’t formulate a sentence. Fans boo again, but Christian says he had to go home after last week and had to do some reflecting. So this is what Christian came up with. Christian says he’s just going to get in the ring so he can talk to JB more directly.

Christian says obviously, frustrations boiled over when JB lost the tag titles. They both said some things and did some things that neither of them really meant. JB got a bit personal with Christian, but he understands. Now listen, hold on. Christian doesn’t wanna fight JB, he doesn’t wanna wrestle JB, he wants to fix this. He wants to fix this, Jack. He wants to go on another run like they had, and Christian promises to take JB to “The Promised Land.” JB doesn’t get what Christian is getting at, and fans chant, “BULL SH*T!” Christian says these people have never accomplished anything in their lives so they don’t know what Christian’s talking about.

Christian says he’s talking about championships for JB. At the end of the day, they’re family, and Christian loves JB. JB is like a son to him. So come back home. Christian offers a hug, but fans boo. JB thinks about it, asks if Christian means all that, and Christian nods. JB TACKLES Christian! And rains down fists! Then CLOBBERS him again! For more fists! Christian scrambles away but can’t get away! JB drags him in and CLOBBERS him again! Christian shoves JB away and crawls out of the ring but JB pursues! LOW BLOW!! Christian RAMS JB into railing! Captain Charisma shouts, “I hate your guts, you piece of crap!”

Christian drags JB up to SMACK off the apron, then brings him around to whip, but JB reverses! Christian hits steel steps hard! JB drags him up to dribble him off the steps! JB says Christian is not his family, or his friend! He stands up on the steps, stands on Christian’s arm, and then STMOPS it!! Fans fire up for JB showing his edge, and he tells Christian is a POS! He dribbles Christian against steps more, but referees and security rush out! They drag JB off Christian, will Christian even be able to wrestle JB at this point?

FTR & Wardlow speak.

Cash Wheeler says last week, we saw the return of “7 Star FTR” to AEW and they stood and fought side-by-side with the War Dog. Make no mistake, Wardlow doesn’t need help, he didn’t ask for it, but there was no way in hell FTR was going to let Wardlow get jumped by those three clowns. So if Lethal and company have a problem with that, come find them. If they want a Trios match, all they had to do is ask. Nobody messes with The Pinnacle. And Wardlow tells “big man” Satnam Singh, “I don’t care how big you are. Anybody and everybody gets powerbomb’d.”

Dax Harwood says that at one time, Jay Lethal was the best wrestler in the world. Some may still do that today. But Dax will say this much. In his mind, today on August 17th, “Dax the Ax” is the new best pro-wrestler on this planet, and he says that with as much humility as he can muster up! If Lethal has a problem with the three of them, then next week, Dax the Ax VS Jay Lethal, 1v1! What does Lethal say? #TopGuysOut!

Toni Storm VS KiLynn King!

The Lightning From Down Under is once again #1 contender, mostly in part because Kris Statlander goes down with injury. But will Storm be able to hold onto that position? Or will the King of Krazy snatch all that momentum away in her return to Dynamite?

The AEW Women’s World Champion, and Storm’s tag team partner, Thunder Rosa is watching this in the back, both to support a friend and also to keep an eye on her potential challenger. The bell rings, Storm and King circle, then tie up. Fans rally, the two go around, and King waistlocks to SLAM Storm! But Storm goes after a leg! King spins through, rolls Storm up, ONE! Storm Oklahoma Rolls, TWO! Storm headlocks but King endures the grind. King pries the hold, but Storm cranks it on! King headlocks back, hits a takeover, and she grinds Storm into the mat. Fans rally for Storm and she fights up to power out.

Storm runs, King ducks but Storm redirects herself! King dodges the basement dropkick, then drop toeholds Storm! King runs, but Storm avoids the basement dropkick to hit the basement dropkick! Fans fire up and Storm runs in at the corner, only for King to put on the apron! King elbows Storm, then hops up and up to FLYING KNEE Storm down! Fans fire up and King builds speed, but Storm avoids the wrecking ball dropkick! Storm then uses the apron for the TORNADO- NO! King blocks the DDT to RAM Storm into the apron! And then RAM her into railing! Fans fire up while Storm falls over, and AEW goes picture in picture.

Storm writhes while the ring count starts and King stomps Storm. King puts Storm in at 4 of 10, has her in a corner, and stomps her down. The ref counts, King drags Storm up to CHOP back down! King backs off but says she’ll do that one more time. King stands Storm up to CHOP her again! Storm staggers away to another corner and King storms up on her. King stands Storm up but Storm ducks the chop to CHOP ack! And again, and again, and again! Storm fires up, runs in, but King goes up and over to mule kick! And then NORTHERN LIGHTS! Cover, TWO! Storm is still in this but King keeps her cool.

King sits Storm up, hooks her up in a grounded abdominal stretch, and even adds a top wristlock. Storm endures and fans rally up, but King SLAPS Storm in the side! And again! And then rains down forearms! King drags Storm up, whips her to a corner, and run sin, but into a BOOT! Storm elbows King then goes up the corner! King hurries to ROCK Storm first! And CLUB her down onto the top rope! King hammers away but lets off as the ref counts! King goes corner to corner, to TOP SHELF KNEE! Storm is still stuck up top and King turns her around. King climbs up behind Storm to CLUB her down, but Storm throws elbows!

King CLUBS Storm then stands her up, for a SUPER BACK- CROSSBODY!! Storm turns it just in time but that landing is still a rough one! Both women are down and a standing count begins. Fans rally up, AEW returns to single picture, and Storm stands at 5 of 10. Storm throws counter punches on King, then forearm after forearm after forearm! King wobbles, Storm kicks low and FISHERMAN SUPLEXES! Bridging cover, TWO! It was good but it wasn’t perfect. Storm drags King up but King throws her away to SOBAT! King runs, BOOTS Storm, and Storm goes to a corner. King runs in corner to corner but blocks a boot!

King hauls Storm up for a ELEVATED SPINEBUSTER! High stack cover, TWO!! Storm survives and King can’t believe it! King drags Storm up, CLUBS her, then pump handles and half nelsons. Storm slips out of the lift to GERMAN SUPLEX! King flounders to a corner and Storm goes to the opposite end. Fans fire up as Storm runs in, HIP ATTACK! The “Sweet Cheeks Music” is a hit, and Storm hits a TORNADO DDT! King flounders, Storm drags her up, SATELLITE DDT! Cover, Storm wins!

Winner: Toni Storm, by pinfall

The #1 contender stays the #1 contender, and Rosa applauds, though not that excitedly. Will Rosa wish someone else was her challenger? Or will she welcome the rematch with Storm?

AEW hears from The Trustbusters and Best Friends.

Ari Daivari says, “The more gold around your waist, the more green in your bank account.” But Chuck Taylor calls them out. The Trustbusters think they can win the Trios Tournament going against Best Friends? Trent says that trio is only together because Ari pays them. These guys are real-life best friends! But Sonny Kiss says no one cares about Orange Cassidy or his dorky friends. Trent says their unit is strong, while Trustbusters are weak AF. Ari says this Friday, the Trustbusters take one step closer to becoming the inaugural AEW World Trios Champions! Best Friends put their hands in, Trios titles on three. One, two, three, RAMPTRIO- Wait. Trios Tournament.

AEW World Trios Championship Tournament, Opening Round: La Faccion Ingobernable VS The Young Bucks & ???

To make their trio complete, Andrade and Rush bring in Rush’s own brother, Dragon Lee! However, last we knew, Matt & Nick Jackson were at a loss for who would be their partner. Hangman Page turned them down so that he could support The Dark Order, and The Undisputed Elite cut ties with them completely, so who do the Bucks have left?

Brandon Cutler does follow the Bucks out there, but that’s always part of the entrance since he’s vlogging for them. Is the cold spray supplying cameraman their partner by default? He’s unzipping his tracksuit jacket and he tells the ring announcer to read this note. Justin Roberts unfolds the full page and says, “And now… He has held frankly an unbelievable amount of singles titles.” WAIT! Can it be?! “He is a two-time NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Champion, and two-time KOD Six Man Tag Team Champion.

“He had the longest reign of 346 days as AEW World Champion. He is a PWI Top 500 #1 ranked wrestler, Wrestling Observer Wrestler of the Year, and Sports Illustrated Wrestler of the Year. While he sometimes uses the airport in NOOORTH~ CAROLINA~, his only go-to candy bar is always the Charleston Chew. He weighed in at 224 pounds to wrestle in his first match tonight in 277 days. He is… KENNY! OOOOOOOOOMEEEEGAAA~!” IT IS!! The Cleaner, the Best Bout Machine, the OmegaMan, IS BACK!! Darn it, so is Don Callis… But we’ll take the good with the bad, can THE! ELITE! THE THE ELITE! Take over the entire tournament?

The trios sort out and fans are already thunderous! They chant “Welcome Back!” for Omega, but Nick starts against Dragon Lee. The two circle, Lee shakes Omega’s hand to show respect, but Matt chooses not to. Nick and Lee shake hands, fans rally up for Lee but Andrade is upset that he showed respect. Lee and Nick circle, tie up with knuckle locks, and then Lee knees low! Lee CLUBS Nick, runs then runs Nick over! Things speed up, Nick hurdles and Lee leaps, but Nick knuckle locks and CHOPS! Nick goes up and up to “LUCHA LIBRE~” FLYING ARM-DRAG! Fans fire up and even Omega applauds.

Nick tags Matt and The Bucks whip Lee corner to corner. Nick runs in to forearm smash, then he and Matt BULLDOG DROPKICK COMBO! Andrade gets in but he gets kicks. Matt gives Nick a boost to RANA Andrade away! Rush gets in but Matt dropkicks him down! Fans fire up and Matt drags Lee up. Matt wrenches Lee and wristlocks, and Omega reaches out! Fans fire up and Matt tags Omega in! Fans are thunderous already as Omega springboards to AX HANDLE! Omega’s first move in 10 months and everyone loves it! Omega wrenches Lee’s arm, wristlocks it, and fans chant for “KENNY! KENNY!”

Omega CHOPS Lee, brings him around, and CHOPS again! Omega bumps Lee off buckles, climbs up top and has the fans join in for the fists! The fans count all the way to 10, and Omega hops off! Fans fire up and Omega storms back in to wrench and fireman’s carry. Fans chant “You Still Got It’! as Omega marches around! “YOU! CAN’T! ESCAPE!” ROLLING SENTON, but he’s still rusty there. Tag to Nick, who then tags to Matt, and the Bucks bring Lee up to double whip. Matt drop toeholds Lee into a GUTBUSTER from Nick, and Omega runs to KOTARO KRUSHER GUTBUSTER COMBO! Then Matt runs in, ROLLING NECKBREAKER BACKBREAKER COMBO!

Fans fire up but Rush shouts to his brother, Lee. Matt drags Lee up, bumps him off buckles, then throws body shots and haymakers! Tag to Omega, he drags Lee up to ROCK him with haymakers. Omega CLUBS Lee, headlocks him, and put shim in the corner to CHOP him! And CHOP again! Omega brings Lee out but Lee fires forearm sand knees low! Tag to Andrade and Andrade pushes Omega. El Idolo wants to test himself against, as Don Callis says so often, “The God of Pro-Wrestling!” Omega likes that, and they circle. But then Jose distracts Omega on the apron! The ref tells Jose to get down, but Rush runs in to SUCKER PUNCH Omega!

Fans boo as LFI stomp away on Omega! Andrade eggs on the Bucks then tattles on them to the ref! The ref keeps the Bucks back while AEW goes picture in picture.

My Thoughts:

What an awesome episode for Dynamite, though they didn’t really go that strong into the Game of Thrones cross branding. But in some ways, that’s fine, because I’m pretty sure it would’ve been really cheesy. Punk opening with that promo was wild stuff. I won’t say that was a Heel turn, but he was definitely shooting hard with those references to his long storied WWE career. Moxley had a great response, they had a great confrontation and a great couple of brawls. Them having the Undisputed AEW World Championship match next week is wild, but also a big indicator there will be shenanigans at some point. They can’t not have the world title on All Out, so something’s gotta happen in Cleveland.

Bryan VS Garcia as the opening match was a great choice. It allowed the match to breathe, and it was all great. I almost thought the piledriver was legit rough, that was very close to flush. But Bryan winning makes a lot of sense given the story they’re building. I said it before that Garcia should leave the JAS to join BCC, and I’d love it if that happened at All Out. Jericho gave an ultimatum, so there’s gotta be a match that happens at the PPV for the fate of Garcia. And good promo from Private Party and Swerve In Our Glory. They’re going to have a very good match on Rampage, but I would think Swerve & Keith retain to get their first defense out of the way.

Good promo from Will Hobbs to call out Ricky Starks and The Factory, but it’d be really interesting if The Factory somehow becomes the reason Hobbs & Starks work out their differences and unite as a team again. Gunn Club squashing the Varsity Blonds was nuts, but it was even more nuts that they turned on Billy to join Stokely. The Acclaimed saving Billy and teaming up with him is pretty cool, and I wonder how these teams are going to escalate from that Dumpster Match. And good promos from Lethal’s group and the reunited Pinnacle, that is going to be a very good trios match.

Good promo from Best Friends and Trustbusters, especially the purposefully jumbled and messy team moment from Best Friends. I’m pretty sure Best Friends win on Rampage to move forward, as they made a good point about being a trio for longer, and built on friendship, not finances. Great promo from Death Triangle to call out The United Empire, and I got it scrambled in my head somehow that United Empire had to be here this week. They’re showing up next week, after the G1 Climax has resolved, and who knows if Ospreay will be coming in with momentum or not. But either way, Ospreay and Pac interacting is going to be awesome as each man has gold and we could get some great title feuds between them outside of the trios titles.

Very good promo segment from JB and Christian Cage, and Christian does have a point that JB has improved in terms of his confidence, and thereby improving his promo skills. Great little brawl, and even though JB smashed up Christian’s arm, I’m sure there will be something for this feud come All Out. We got a very good match from Storm and King, especially with this being King’s return to TV in almost half a year. Maybe King can join Athena against The Baddies while Kris Statlander is out, as King also has history with Red Velvet and the other Baddies. As for Storm, Storm VS Rosa is going to be a great match for All Out.

Then in the best thing of the night, it was everything with the Trios Tournament in the main event. Great to see Omega return to action, and I’m surprised he did as much as he did, especially that huge tope suicida spot at the railing. Though I suppose that was more on Lee than on Omega. Omega being the third man of course meant The Elite was going to win, but I had fully expected to see Death Triangle VS LFI in the next round. Rush turning on his own brother was a shocker, too, but I suppose Rush & Andrade are going to pile on the Heel heat for themselves. As for The Elite, I wonder if Cole & reDRagon cost them next round against whoever they face. That way, we get OG Elite VS Undisputed Era set up, and then I’m thinking Death Triangle VS Best Friends at All Out for the titles.

My Score: 8.8/10
