What will be the final stipulation for Cole vs Gargano III?
I always like it when we dive right into the action. I do have to say Tyler Breeze’s day growth doesn’t vibe with the Prince Pretty gimmick. Oh, that’s right, he’s facing the Unforgettable Psychopath, Jaxson Ryker. Guess that growth will cover up the bruises when Ryker’s done. I’m honestly stunned Breeze pulled that off, not stunned that Forgotten Sons made him pay for it though, guess that pretty face will get messed up yet. WHOA, Fandango is here!!!! Fashion Police are back!
Ooh, Candice LeRae vs Io Shirai in the parking lot! Nice. I’m honestly waiting for Shirai to jump her from behind.
So it’s Bronson Reef vs Cameron Grimes in the Breakout Tournament Semi-Finals. I can’t say Grimes’ slack-jawed look doesn’t wow me. This was a really great match, I just wish Grimes didn’t look like a slack-jawed yokel. Anyway, Grimes won, and it was a good match, so it’s Jordan Myles vs Cameron Grimes in the finals. I really don’t have a dog in this fight, so I’m not going to stump for anyone.
Love the build for Adam Cole vs Johnny Gargano. I don’t think we heard what the third stipulation will be, but that will probably be revealed before TakeOver.
Matt Riddle’s promo would’ve been great…if the audio had been synced up, but that might be my TV. ANYWAY, it’s going to be Damian Priest vs Matt Riddle next week. I’m thinking that it’s going to go No Contest and we’ll have another match at TakeOver.
So, Shayna Baszler’s finally had enough of getting a taste of her own medicine and having to face defending that belt one on one. Okay, this sync problem is making me mad. ANYWAY, it looks like we’re getting Mia Yim vs Shayna Baszler at TakeOver. Done. YAY, Mia gets another shot!!!!
Have I mentioned that I love William Regal as GM. I think I like him better as a GM than I did when he was the Commissioner, but that might be just a difference in years. So Shirai is barred from the campus? And it’s Shirai vs LeRae at TakeOver! Two women’s matches in the same show!
So, time for Pete Dunne vs Roderick Strong. I’m still not stoked that Dunne got a shot at the North American title just for showing up when Strong PINNED Velveteen Dream fair and square. It’s a great match and Strong is showing his chops, but I’m not totally into it. I think Dunne should be back in NXT UK where he’s part of a storyline instead of just showing up in NXT. Also, not thrilled Strong lost. He’s the home talent, not Dunne and Dunne doesn’t belong in this match anyway.
Overall, I liked this show, but the lack of promos was odd. I don’t know what was going on there, but it felt odd to not have some promos or filler matches. They’re definitely building up TakeOver: Toronto, but it felt like that was the only focus, not what comes later.
That’s it for Tiffany’s NXT Takes! Tune in Monday for Monday Night RAW’s go-home show for SummerSlam!
