From Undesirable to Undeniable: The Aubrey Edwards Story.
The American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes, wants to talk about those times when one feels so low and unwanted, to when they’re on top of the world. What was the point when Aubrey felt undesirable? Aubrey has only had a two year career, mostly doing this for fun, and had a time in WWE with the Mae Young Classic. It was the first time she thought she could do a full-time thing. She was a freelancer, working a handful of times, but WWE never made the move to make her full-time. To be told they were no longer interested hurt, because they wouldn’t even say why. Cody knows full well that’s just how WWE works. But after that, what did she do to overcome? Aubrey realized for herself that what she was missing was to make this for her. Success is what she defines it, so now sky’s the limit.
What then would be her definition of “undeniable?” The moment when she helped up the AEW World Championship, getting to call that match at All Out. She loved being part of that historic moment, and everyone was proud for her. She’s having a blast, and there’s no way anyone can ignore her. But what if this is the last episode already? Well then she’d retire happy, with no regrets.

The only solace for Janela is that this match doesn’t count on his record. But one way or another, this match proved that the Cleaner is ready to go to some dark places. Will this only make the Death Rider more eager to have it out with him at Full Gear?
DAMN what a great second episode for Dark! To think AEW’s dark matches could be as good as the main show, if not better. The Triple Threat of Avalon-Sonny-Sabian was pretty fun for a starter, and I’m glad the usual Heel manager helping out doesn’t work out. The Librarians make a good combo, but it’s good to see them get some comeuppance in failing. Sabian gets a big win for his record, so maybe we’ll see him on AEW TV soon. We get another great 8 Man Tag for Dark, giving some momentum to the Dark Order going into the tournament. The Hybrid2 being on both winning quartets, both with Uno & Stu this week and the Lucha Brothers last week, they could make their own case that they’re up first at, say, Full Gear for a tag title match. It wouldn’t be a lot of time between the October 30th finals and November 9th’s PPV, but TH2 has story with just about everyone in that tournament, so whoever comes out with the titles already have a reason to want to shut Evans up.
I’m not too sure what to make of the Undeniable interview segment. I do commend AEW for making a big deal about there being female referees in the business, and Aubrey Edwards is of course a good fit as the face of that. I do remember wondering why she didn’t stick around after WWE’s previous Mae Young Classic, but it did work out in the end for her to be here. At the same time, does AEW really need to always find an opening to criticize the WWE? There is a lot to criticize, sure, but let fans do that because fans will always do that. In this instance, it was fine, as was with last week’s “We The People” burn Jericho did. But from now on, make AEW be about AEW, not about what AEW does better than WWE, because again fans will speak for them without even being asked. I’m also surprised Cody got his last name back, maybe Vince McMahon finally got over that stuff.
As JR might say, “BAH GAWD, he’s broken in half!” I really should’ve said that for Omega VS Janela. That might very well be the first match that made me wince and feel a bit sick. I am surprised neither has been announced as injured, but maybe that comes out between now and tomorrow night’s Dynamite. There was clearly a lot of parallel between this match and the Moxley VS Janela “unsanctioned” match, and it works out very well for Omega in a very broad “anything you can do, I can do crazier” sense. I also like that Omega even went so far as to copy Moxley’s signatures, it makes it even more clear that he’s ready to finally settle this. Omega & Hangman VS Mox & PAC is going to be great for all the story in that, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if it just melts down into brawling with Omega putting Moxley through some kind of table or glass or glass table. I would be very disappointed if Omega VS Moxley for Full Gear didn’t become something No Disqualification based given the story they’re building. Call it whatever you want, make it like this match tonight and it’ll steal the show, if not the entire month.
My Score: 8.8/10
