We’re heading into the week of Christmas, what is going on in the world of the Elites during this festive season?

News, Tidbits, and Fun

POSSIBLE Identity of Bald ‘Nightmare Collective’ Guy

It seems that Brandi Rhodes’ Nightmare collective is growing, with or without Kris Statlander. Some guys on Reddit were looking at one of the promo videos of the Collective and THOUGHT they recognized one of the male converts as Dr. Luther, a friend of Chris Jericho’s who is a wrestler with FMW.

Take: Sounds like Chris Jericho is the friend that keeps on giving.

‘A Little Bit of the Bubbly’ Sells Biggish.

I don’t remember if I mentioned this last week, so I’ll post it again. Chris Jericho’s sparkling wine, ‘A Little Bit of the Bubbly’ has sold about 16,000 bottles as of last week.

Take: I know nothing about wine sales, but for a wrestling company to sell 16k bottles of wine sounds like a big deal to me.

Alex Reynolds and John Silver Signed to AEW

This news has been out for a bit, but I wanted to wait and see before posting, but since Reynolds and Silver have become part of the Dark Order pretty much confirms that they have been signed to AEW.

Take: This doesn’t feel like as big a deal as their placement should feel. Beaver Boys are a good team, but I’m not sure they’re…high profile enough to be in the Dark Order storyline.

AEW Heading to Kansas City, Chicago, and Atlanta!

It was announced earlier in the week that AEW would be staging ‘Revolution’ in Chicago, but that they would be doing shows in Kansas City, Missouri, and Atlanta, GA, the longtime home of WCW with Kansas City being the go-home show for ‘Revolution’. So get those tickets!

Update: As of about 1pm on Friday, December 20th, AEW Revolution is SOLD OUT! Congrats, guys!

AEW Reaches Big Milestone

On December 16th, it was announced that AEW had sold 100k tickets. That is: PPV, and Dynamite. This is a pretty big milestone for a company that’s less than a year old. Congrats guys, I’m proud to say that I’m one of those 100k tickets and it was the most fun I’ve had at a wrestling show since October 9, 2017.

Butcher and Blade Get Big Reception in Buffalo.

It looks like Butcher and Blade, who seemingly have come out of nowhere on Dynamite, are wrapping up their indy dates and one of those dates were in their hometown of Buffalo, New York, where they received a pretty big pop.

JR Offers Support to WWE’s Piper Niven

Piper Niven, who has been tearing it up on WWE’s NXT UK brand, revealed recently that she has Bell’s Palsey, a condition that causes the muscles in the face to freeze, though the affect is USUALLY temporary. AEW’s Jim Ross, who has famously dealt with the disease, and still suffers the affects of it, sent Niven a message of positivity and support, encouraging her to keep smiling.

AEW To Launch Official Podcast

AEW keeps extending its outreach as they  will be launching a podcast hosted by Tony Schiavone. No word on when the podcast will launch, or what it will be about, other than it’ll be launched in January 2020.

Former ROH Star Does Commentary on AEW Dark

Former ROH star, Colt Cabana, best known as the former BFF of CM Punk, did commentary on the AEW Dark episode that will be airing on Christmas Eve. There’s been nothing reported on whether or not this gig was a tryout or the AEW EVPs giving a hand up to a buddy. We’ll see down the road.

Cody Presented with Ice Rays Jersey before AEW

Did you know Corpus Christi had a hockey team? Me neither. Anyway, they do, and since AEW was filming in the arena the team used for their…games? Meets? Stick fights?

Stipulations Set for Lance Archer/Jon Moxley Bout

If you recall from my excited squealings recently, Jon Moxley and Lance Archer will be facing each other at Wrestle Kingdom in January in a Texas Death Match. This week, NJPW clarified the rules for this match: No Disqualifications, no pinfalls, you basically go until one of you can’t answer a 10 count or you submit. Take. My. MONEY!!!

Sammy Guevara Tries to Hit Up Camila Cabello

Uh…Yeah, I have no idea what this is.

12-24-2019 AEW Dark Card

  • Sammy Guevara vs Brandon Cutler
  • Proud n Powerful vs Private Party vs Best Friends vs Hybrid2
  • Joey Janela vs Shawn Spears

1-1-2020 AEW Dynamite Card…So Far

Universal Studios is still the AEW Dark Arena!

As they prepare to go after the AEW World Trios Championships, AR Fox & Top Flight reunite to take on The Wingmen: Peter Avalon, Ryan Nemeth & Cezar Bononi!

OFFICIAL RESULTS

  • Six Man Tag: AR Fox & Top Flight VS The Wingmen; Fox & Top Flight win.
  • Red Velvet VS Sofia Castillo; Velvet wins.
  • Zack Clayton VS Fulton; Clayton wins.
  • Brock Anderson & Brian Pillman Jr. w/ Arn Anderson VS Rosario Grillo & Dean Alexander; Anderson & Pillman win.
  • Skye Blue VS Renee Michelle; Skye wins.
  • Shane Taylor Promotions VS Mr. G & Dante Casanova; Shane Taylor Promotions wins.
  • Yuka Sakazaki VS Avery Breaux; Yuka wins.
  • The Workhorsemen VS Liam Gray & Adrian Alanis; The Workhorsemen win.
  • Angelico w/ Serpentico & Luther VS Konosuke Takeshita; Konosuke wins.

QUICK NOTES

A solid line-up, and I like that we’re getting to see Brock Anderson & Brian Pillman Jr. in action together after a backstage promo on Elevation not too long ago. Not sure what the team name is but two second generation stars together is a logical combination. Angelico VS Konosuke, that is going to be a great match, but I give the win to Konosuke. Red Velvet is in action again after also being on Elevation, she’s definitely building momentum towards taking on Jade Cargill for Jade’s 50th match. And good to see Shane Taylor Promotions in action here. They’ll be a strong part of the ROH Tag Team Division, even after having lost to Keith Lee after Swerve abandoned Keith.

And good to see AR Fox & Top Flight in action, and against The Wingmen. For one, good to see Avalon, Nemeth & Bononi teaming all together again. And this will be a good match to build momentum for Fox & Flight.

Can All Heart overcome the Swiss Superman?

The ROH World Championship returns to AEW Dark: Elevation, and Claudio Castagnoli takes on Blake Christian. Will All Heart survive the Swiss Superman?

OFFICIAL RESULTS

  • Red Velvet VS Billie Starkz; Velvet wins.
  • Alex Reynolds & John Silver VS The Workhorsemen; Reynolds & Silver win.
  • Rush w/ Jose the Assistant VS Brian Pillman Jr; Rush wins.
  • Athena & Diamante VS Skye Blue & Yuka Sakazaki; Skye & Yuka win.
  • Top Flight VS Ari Daivari & Tony Nese w/ Mark Sterling; Top Flight wins.
  • The Kings of the Black Throne w/ Julia Hart VS Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum; The Kings of the Black Throne win.
  • ROH World Championship: Claudio Castagnoli VS Blake Christian; Claudio wins.

QUICK NOTES

A pretty good line-up, and I think Athena will end up in a program for her ROH Women’s Championship coming out of that tag match. Good tune-up match for Top Flight going into their AEW World Trios Championship program with the Elite, that should be a good win. And Blake Christian is going places. He’s had good stints on NJPW Strong, he’s in ROH and AEW, he’s going to give Claudio a great match. Claudio will still win, this is mostly to get things going towards Supercard of Honor on March 31st, but Blake could easily find himself going for a midcard title like the ROH Pure Championship or AEW All-Atlantic Championship.
