Brandon Cutler meets with Peter Avalon and Leva Bates backstage.
The Dungeon Master asks if The Librarian is happy with his singles loss to Orange Cassidy. Avalon sarcastically praises Cutler as the returning hero. Leva tries to settle them down as the interviewer lets them know about their match tonight. A singles match against each other? No, a tag match with each other. Leva’s excited for that but Avalon and Cutler are upset. You can’t fight fate. Avalon and Cutler each say the other loses it for them, but then The Young Bucks come by. They’re the opponents for Cutler and Avalon!? And the brothers promise to show them a thing or two about tag team psychology and continuity. After all, they’ve been doing this for 15 years! Not one argument or even considering turning on each other.
Cutler knows them better, though. There was a time when they fought. It had quite the impact on wrestling. Oh, that feels like a whole generation ago. Avalon remembers exactly what Cutler is talking about, because he read it in The Bucks’ book, “Killing the Business: From the Backyards to the Big Leagues.” Wait, Cutler is best friends with the Jacksons, how has he not read the book but Avalon has? Well they are library influencers. But that book doesn’t come out until November, on Youngbucksbook.com, pre-order now. Wait, Avalon got an advance copy? Leva, too. What a bunch of bull. Cutler and Avalon head in different directions but Leva is excited to have this team back. Will AEW’s biggest losers shock quite possibly the best tag team ever this close to Fyter Fest?
Shawn Spears VS Max Caster!
The Chair Man’s black glove certainly came in handy last week, as Tully Blanchard helped give it a boost with some sort of metal. Will that trick return and drop Mr. Platinum like a lead balloon?
The referee checks the glove but there’s nothing suspicious in it right now. The bell rings, Spears circles with Caster, and the two tie up. Spears waistlocks and slams Caster down and then struts about. Caster gets up and circles with Spears. They tie up, Spears brings Caster down by the arm, wrenches the wrist but Caster rolls. Caster handsprings and arm-drags Spears away! Then he shows off by kipping up, and mocks the strut! Tully gives Spears some pointers before Spears circles with Caster again. They tie up, Caster waistlocks, then headlocks, but Spears powers out. Spears trips Caster up then grabs him for clubbing crossface forearms! The ref counts, Spears backs off, but then brings Caster up for a high and hard back suplex!
Spears slams Caster’s arm on the mat, then stands on a leg to stomp it. Spears grabs the other leg to yank it, then takes the other arm to drop a knee on it. Spears grabs Caster’s hair but the ref counts. Spears lets go, to stomp Caster’s head! Spears brings Caster up, hooks the nose but lets up at 4. The ref checks the glove again but it’s still empty. Caster rolls Spears, TWO! Caster throws haymakers, whips but Spears reverses to hit the SPINE BUSTER! Spears stalks Caster, brings him to the fireman’s carry, C4! Cover, Spears wins!
Winner: Shawn Spears, by pinfall
The glove didn’t even need to be loaded up, #PERFECT10N won fair and square. Will anything stop Spears from rising up the ranks and fighting for gold?
Wait, Tully slips something to Spears and works to obstruct the camera’s view. But we still see Spears slide the metal block into the glove! Spears goes after Caster while he’s down, brings him up, and DECKS him with the loaded left! Spears leaves, having left his mark on Caster. Will Spears continue to walk the line as he heads for the top?
Lance Archer w/ Jake the Snake VS “Pineapple Pete” Suge D!
Interestingly, Sugar Dunkerton was the first victim of Spears’ loaded glove. But the Murderhawk Monster hasn’t needed a single trick or cheat to maul his opponents. Will that stay the same this close to AEW’s big two week event?
Archer attacks as Suge makes his entrance! He clobbers him from behind, throws him inside, but Suge dropkicks back! Archer knocks into The Snake and that pisses Archer off more. Archer pushes Suge down and demands the ref ring the bell. The bell rings, but Suge hits Archer with a flying forearm! Archer boots but Suge gets under and uppercuts! then enziguris! These two are set for a grudge match after Archer attacked the Bad Boy and Sonny Kiss last Wednesday.

Suge flounders up into a boot! Archer walks up the ropes to hit a springboard senton! Cover, TWO! Archer is furious with the ref but two is two. Archer turns back to Suge, Suge throws body shots, but Archer clubs Suge down. Archer drags Suge up, whips him to ropes, then CLOBBERS him down! Archer stomps Suge at the ropes then kicks him out of the ring. Archer glares at Janela, wanting him to pay attention to his future.
Archer throws Suge’s shirt at Suge, then drags him in for a suplex TOSS! Suge clasps that bad back but Archer stomps him down! Archer drags Suge up and CHOPS him in the corner. Suge dodges the second to fire off fast hands and a CHOP of his own! Archer just eggs Suge on. Suge CHOPS but Archer DECKS him! Archer looms over Suge, drags him around, then goes to a corner. Archer goes up, Murderhawk Splash! Cover, TWO! Suge shakes his head, refusing to give up. Suge swings, but he flops to the mat after he misses. Archer brings him up to ROCK him with another right, then grins into the corner camera. Archer ROCKS Suge again, saying that’s what Janela’s gonna get.
Archer puts Suge up top, brings him out in the inverted crucifix, but Suge fights free! Suge can’t stand, but Archer clamps on a choke grip. Suge breaks free to haymaker and CHOP and repeat! Archer shoves, Suge HEADBUTTS! Suge fires up as Archer wobbles, and Suge says #EverybodyDies! But SUge runs into a titl-o-whirl, BLACKOUT BOMB!! Archer dribbles Suge’s head off th emat, then clamps on the claw for the cover, Archer wins!
Winner: Lance Archer, by pinfall
#EverbodyDies is Archer’s line! And he makes a point of it as he drags Suge back up. But here comes Janela! Janela is armed with a leaf blower, but Archer gets away before Janela can land a single blow. “The Bad Boy never dies!” Will that still be true after Fyter Fest?
Ricky Starks VS Griff Garrison!
The Absolute had a great AEW debut in fighting for the TNT Championship, but he didn’t end the American Nightmare’s reign. Can he start his way back against the Ivy League MVP?
The bell rings and Starks circles with Griff. They feel out the grapple, tie up, and are in a deadlock until Griff scoops. Starks slips out and does some stretches while taunting Griff. They circle again, feel out another grapple, and Starks wrenches to a wristlock. Starks cranks Griff’s arm, Griff spins through and rocks Starks with a right! Griff brings Starks in, suplexes, but Stark slips out. Starks gets around Griff, waistlocks, shoves and trips Griff up! Griff makes it to ropes while Starks grins and swaggers. The two tie up again, Starks waistlocks and shoves, things speed up as Starks hurdles and swaggers. Griff shoves, pops up, but Starks lands on his feet to blow a kiss and arm-drag Griff away. Starks stalks Griff, brings him up, but Griff CHOPS back! Starks grins and shrugs it off, but Griff CHOPS again!
Starks ducks the third try and CHOPS back! Starks blows a kiss, runs, but into a fireman’s carry! Starks fights out and shoves, then follows Griff to SPEAR! Cover, Starks wins!
Winner: Ricky Starks, by pinfall
That was an absolutely incredible spear, and Starks has his first win in AEW! But Starks goes to the commentary table to fist bump Taz. Could we be seeing the start of a strong, swaggering stable?
Scorpio Sky VS Brady Pierce!
The Closer is working on building a singles streak and it’s looking good so far. But will The Inspiration change that to finally start on his own winning road?
The bell rings and Scorpio circles with Pierce. They tie up, Pierce shoves Scorpio away, and the crowd cheers that show of strength. Scorpio grins and shrugs it off, circles with Pierce again, and they tie up. Scorpio waistlocks, Pierce drops down, but Scorpio body scissors and rolls him for a clutch cover! Scorpio puts Pierce in, SLINGSHOT CUTTER! Cover, Scorpio wins!

And Scorpio’s streak continues! Are the skies the limit for Scorpio Sky in AEW?
Brandi Rhodes & Allie VS Skyler Moore & KiLynn King!
Brandi doesn’t trust Allie’s intentions towards QT Marshall and by extension the Natural Nightmares, but they did manage to win their first time out. Will they find a way to win again when against #WeWantMoore and the Queen of Crazy?
As they make their entrance, it is revealed Brandi and Allie are now the “Nightmare Sisters.” Well, apparently no one told Brandi that. She grabs the mic from Justin Roberts to say there is no relation, there is no team, thank you for understanding. With that addressed, the teams sort out. Brandi insists she start and she’s against KiLynn as the bell rings. They circle, tie up, and King powers Brandi back, but Brandi turns it around. King still powers out but Brandi arm-drags King down. King sweeps Brandi’s legs, covers, but Brandi gets up before a count. Brandi waistlocks, rolls King, TWO! Tag to Moore and she stomps away on Brandi! Tag to King, and King gets to stomp away. Tag to Moore again and they both bring Brandi up for double whips. But Brandi crisscrosses them into each other!
Brandi throws haymakers and CHOPS on King, but King boots and boots! Moore throws Brandi down by her hair! Cover, TWO! Moore grows frustrated but she rains down forearms on Brandi. Allie doesn’t try to help as Moore mockingly has Brandi reach for a tag. Moore dribbles Brandi off the mat then has her mockingly reach for Allie again. Moore drags Brandi up as the crowd rallies. Moore scoops Brandi for a powerslam! Cover, TWO! Brandi lives and Moore is furious! Moore drags Brandi up again, reels her in, but Brandi slips out of the gut wrench to kick and STUNNER! Brandi flounders to the corner, hot tag to Allie!
Allie storms up to Moore and throws forearm after forearm! Allie whips, Moore reverses, but Allie stops herself and copies Dustin’s uppercut! Allie also copies a certain blast from the past, before hitting a bulldog! Allie hits King for good measure, then pats herself on the back. “I have to do everything!” But Moore scoops her! Allie slips out, dragon sleepers, and says this is for QT. Curtain Call! Another Dustin reference, but Allie tags Brandi in to take the cover. Brandi is a little confused, but she covers, and she and Allie win!
Winners: Brandi Rhodes & Allie, by pinfall
They may not be a true tag team, but they are still winning. Will Allie ever find a way to win the Nightmare Family over? Or will they just win?
The Butcher & The Blade VS Low Rida & Fuego Del Sol!
Andy Williams and Braxton Sutter have found fearless allies in the Lucha Brothers, and those four plan on taking down FTR and the Young Bucks. Will Osito and the Fire of the Sun simply be fodder before Fyter Fest?
The teams sort out and Blade starts against Fuego. They circle, tie up, and Blade headlocks then shifts to a hammerlock. He shifts back to a headlock, then another hammerlock, and then throws Fuego down. Blade shakes his head at Fuego as the two circle again. The two young guns were destroyed by these two merciless mercenaries! Will they, Pentagon and Fenix destroy Cash Wheeler, Dax Harwood and the Jackson brothers?
The Young Bucks VS Brandon Cutler & Peter Avalon w/ Leva Bates!
Speaking of Matt & Nick, they go up against their friend in the Dungeon Master, and not so much in the Librarian. Can the Bucks keep focused with the epic 8 Man Tag on the horizon? Or will a split focus help Cutler and Avalon finally get a win?
The teams sort out and Cutler starts against Matt. They circle, tie up, are in a deadlock, but Matt slips around to a waistlock. Winners: The Young Bucks, by pinfall
Avalon and Cutler showed the most promise yet, but they were still against the team of the past 15 years. The Bucks want Avalon and Cutler to shake hands, and they do! Have the biggest losers in AEW figured out they might just have something? Will the Bucks and FTR combined be an incredible force in their own right?
My Thoughts:
A great Dark to lead us into Fyter Fest! Now, obviously the formula of “established wrestler beats jobber” stayed firm for all the matches, but the matches were so good. Spears wins clean but still has to Heel it up, and then Suge D has just a small bit of offense before being destroyed. Archer and Janela are going to have a great match that I almost wish was given a stipulation even after just the handful of encounters. Maybe something happens and the match is thrown out, so that we get a No Disqualifications match at All Out 2020 or something. Starks gets his first win but I’m more intrigued that he fist bumps Taz. I really do wonder if Starks joins Taz as a midcard level client so that both world and TNT championships are within their reach as a stable.
Scorpio gets a good win off Pierce while giving Pierce a chance to show some power game and Heel attitudes. The story of Allie, QT and the Nightmare Family takes new twists and I’m liking it. Maybe Allie wants to get everyone on her side before betraying them all for maximum rage. Then we got great tag team matches to close out the night and hype up the 8 Man Tag for Fyter Fest. Butcher & Blade got dangerously close to ending Low Rida in that match but thankfully he was okay. Cutler and Avalon have their best showing as a team yet, and now I’m torn. Do I want them to face each other to see who is true worst wrestler? Or should they become a tag team that surprises us and certainly upsets the team they face? Either way, Cutler and Avalon are low key the best story right now because I still honestly thought Cutler was going to #JoinDarkOrder.
My Score: 8.5/10

Backstage interview with Rocky Romero.
Lexi is with Azucar as he is just moments away from his Title Eliminator match for the International Championship. However, Lexi wants to know if he knows what’s going on with Best Friends. Rocky says Chuck, Trent and Orange Cassidy are like brothers to him, and yet he has no idea what’s going on there. But right now, he can’t really worry about that, he has to focus on the match with Roderick Strong. When Rocky wins, he’ll be one step closer to fulfilling his destiny of becoming International Champion. Kyle O’Reilly pops in, wishes Rocky luck, and then heads back out. Will Azucar be able to get one over on the Savior of the Backbreaker? Or will he just end up broken?
AEW International Championship Eliminator: Roderick Strong w/ The Undisputed Kingdom VS Rocky Romero!
While Azucar is confident, it was just last night on Rampage that Roddy took offense to him and Kyle O’Reilly even thinking there was a chance this match doesn’t go The Undisputed Kingdom’s way. Will Roddy prove them all wrong by crossing Rocky off the list? Or is this were The Kingdom starts to crumble?

Backstage interview with Serena Deeb.
Lexi Nair is with the Professor of Professional Wrestling and notes how last week, Serena walked on stage after Yuka Sakazaki’s return victory. Why? Serena says she was sitting in the back, watching that impressive match, and thought to herself that she was watching a great pro-wrestler. Someone that Serena would love to tear it up with. Tonight, the Professor is here on BOTB, but has no championship opportunity. She’s not sweating it, though. Since her return, Serena is undefeated. She checked the rankings, and The Professor is sitting pretty at Number 3! So week by week, she’s climbing her way up to inevitably become champion.
Serena tells Yuka, that was an invitation. To where? Into the Deeb Dojo! Serena will show Yuka that Serena is better, and that she is what she says she is: The Professor of Pro-Wrestling! Serena wants to test herself against the Wrestling Magical Girl, but who will be the one taking a step closer to a title opportunity?

ROH Women’s World Championship: Athena w/ Billie Starkz VS Red Velvet!
The Fallen Goddess is 49-0 after defeating Hikaru Shida on Supercard of Honor last week, and when she says she’s the Forever Champion, she means that. But will “forever” come to a crashing halt in Kentucky? Or will The Chef be the one getting served an L?
The introductions are made by Lexi Nair, so just a little biased in Athena’s favor. The belt is raised, and here in the main event, we see who is the face of the ROH Women’s Division!
The Code of Honor is upheld, the bell rings and the fans fire up for Athena already. The two circle, tie up, and they go around. They go into a corner, along ropes, then Athena throws Velvet down. Winner: Athena, by pinfall (still ROH Women’s World Champion)
And that’s FIFTY and zero! Fifty wins, no losses, and no slowing down as she title belt clinks with Billie. But as is customary on ROH, Athena sets her belt down, and Billie does, too. They drag Velvet up, mock “stir it up,” but Velvet SLAPS Athena! And SLAPS Billie! But then Athena and Billie mug Velvet! The fans boo as Billie picks up her belt, takes aim, but then QUEEN AMINATA is here! Aminata runs down into the ring, dodges Billie to DECK Athena, then HEADBUTT for Billie! That’s payback for cheating in the TV title match! But then Athena runs up, into an Alabama Lift! AIR RAID CRASH!!
Aminata saves Velvet while also making her own impact, will The Queen not be denied her crown? Or will the Fallen Goddess look to make her pay for this insolence?
My Thoughts:
A really good BOTB but uh, after ten of these, we already know nothing really happens on these. Great action and promos like on Collision, but no titles were ever changing hands. And after two hours of Collision, the crowd was of course tired out. Hook of course defeated Shane but it was a really good showing of Hook’s resilience to take all that damage and still win. Really good match from Roddy and Rocky that Roddy of course won, and turns out I was right in thinking they’d fast track Roddy VS Kyle here. That match will be great stuff, but it’d be a shame if Kyle’s first title shot ends up a loss, even with The Kingdom all there to interfere and distract.
Good promo from Serena to make it clear that she’s having a match with Yuka, just in case it wasn’t clear last week. And then a great main event for the ROH Women’s Championship. Red Velvet looked great even in defeat, and natural move for Aminata to show up and go after Athena & Billie. Aminata really has her pick of the two titles at this point, and while payback on Billie for Supercard is an obvious route, why wouldn’t she go right to the source and take down Athena? Athena’s made it to 50-0, and if not when Athena faced Billie, not when she faced Nyla Rose nor when she faced Shida, her first loss should be to pass the torch to Aminata.
Aminata went through the grind, paid her dues, and has got organically over with ROH viewers, so if she isn’t gonna be the historic first Women’s TV Champ, make her the woman that takes down the top woman in ROH.
My Score: 8.6/10
