Mitchell’s Hyrule Puro-Resu News! (6/19/20)

A huge event is announced!

Hyrule Puro-Resu holds another press conference!

King Nicolas Foolyere Hyrule is on stage, but it’s a different set-up than before. He holds a microphone and there’s a big screen standing behind him. He thanks the media for coming and the viewers for tuning in for this “very special announcement.” After the Akkala event a couple weeks ago, “the stars have aligned for something truly magical in HPW.” King Nicolas is proud to announce on behalf of the HPW management “what is perhaps the most ambitious pro-wrestling event in the history of Hyrule, if not the entire world!” It will be an event where ALL the championships are on the line! The Triforce Championship, the Goddess Championship, the Trios Championships and the Death Mountain- Er, Exquisite Championship! All will be defended in one night at an event HPW is calling… TREASURE ISLAND! The logo appears on the titantron as King Nicolas draws attention to it.

On August 8th, Hyrule Puro-Resu will travel to Eventide Island for this event, but not just to enjoy the sand, sun and the surf. The established matches for the card are the HPW Triforce Championship’s first defense as Link takes on Ganondorf Dragmire 1v1, and the HPW Goddess Championship’s second defense as Midna takes on Cia the Dark Sorceress. Ghirahim is a new champion with a newly redesigned belt, but the list of contenders to the Death Mountain Championship is still lengthy. The HPW Trios Champions, The Dark Forces’ Gibdo, ReDead and Volga the Burning Berserker, have also had too easy a schedule. Contenders for those titles will all be announced in the coming days.

But the Eventide event isn’t the only news for this press conference!

There is a reason why HPW chose Eventide Island. There will be a very special match held, known as the “Eventide Challenge!” SIX wrestlers will compete at once in a match that is essentially a race across Eventide. A map of Eventide displays on the screen.

The match will start at Toronbo Beach, and the six wrestlers must make their way through jungle and over hills to Koholit Rock, grab the golden ball, and bring it back. The winner of the Eventide Challenge will earn a shot at the HPW Triforce Championship at a later event. But these six spots will not just be handed out!

On July 11th, HPW’s Lanayru Bay event, there will be THREE Triple Threat matches! The wrestlers who are pinned or submitted in those matches will be left out of the Eventide Challenge, leaving the winners and the wrestlers not involved in the finishes to qualify for this golden opportunity. The nine competitors will be chosen fairly from among both the Men’s and Women’s Divisions, and shuffled into the three matches. Those names will be announced at the same time as the Exquisite Championship and Trios Championship challengers. With that, King Nicolas thanks us all for supporting Hyrule Puro-Resu and hopes to see us all soon.

My Thoughts:

I’m really piling it on myself here. Three Triple Threats on one event, then four title matches and a HUGE “gimmick” match on the next. I’m going to have a lot of fun, though. The Eventide qualifiers are going to give opportunities to a lot of names and I really am going to shuffle them around. The Eventide Challenge match itself is going to be a lot like this year’s Money in the Bank Corporate Ladder match just on (imagined) scale and scope, but I can already tell you there won’t be a thrown-off-the-roof fake-out style spot. Mostly because there won’t be a roof to throw someone off.

Hockey Talk- Reverse Psychology [032624]

Hockey Talk looks at the resurgent St. Louis Blues & Washington Capitals. Plus, the Rangers stay hot, and can anyone end Canda’s drought this season?

Chairshot Radio Large

A couple of weeks ago, Patrick & Dave wrote off their respective teams and had given up all hope on either reaching the playoffs. Two weeks later, the reverse psychology has paid off as both the Blues and Capitals have climbed back into the playoff picture. With only about 10 games left on the regular season slate, the guys celebrate their teams’ resurgence and also contemplate other questions such as: Is this the Rangers’ year? Which Canadian team has the best chance at ending Canada’s Stanley Cup drought? Which teams have the nastiest schedules heading down the stretch. All that and much more on this week’s installment of Hockey Talk.

Today’s hosts: Dave Ungar (@AttitudeAgg) and Patrick O’Dowd (@WrestlngRealist)

  • The Caps and Blues fight back!
  • Is this the New York Rangers’ year?
  • Can any of the Canadian teams end the Stanley Cup drought?
