And tonight, Vickie brought us entertainment as her client destroyed another opponent! So applaud for her! APPLAUD! AEW Dark presents The Waiting Room!
Rebel asks us all to smile as she welcomes us back, and introduces The Doctor, Britt Baker! Baker dances her way in and thanks the audience for being here. She is so happy to be back, and first thing’s first, congrats to the NEW AEW World Champion, Kenny Omega! Britt has always loved Kenny, and has always known he’s good on the mic, but no one knew he was that good. Good on you, Kenny! Rebel’s fake laugh haunts us once again. Britt wants to also say a star has finally arrived in AEW, and a huge weight has been lifted off her shoulders. Welcome to AEW, Sting! Sting will be a guest on the Waiting Room one day, too! Rebel’s talking with his people, it’s just a matter of time.
And speaking of extremely talented wrestlers with amazing face paint, the exact opposite is Thunder Rosa! She had no business going after Britt! She is lucky AEW sent all the refs out to save her, or that would’ve gotten real ugly. Like one half of Rosa’s face! Rosa does not belong. Britt makes sure Rebel’s laugh doesn’t start up again. But moving on, here is The Natural, “the best coach in the game,” Dustin Rhodes! Dustin walks in, Rebel hands him a mic and Britt gives Dustin a quickly little hug. Take a seat so you don’t get tired. The three sit on the couch and talk the latest and greatest action figure, the Rhodes “Blood Brothers” two pack, based on Cody VS Dustin from Double or Nothing!
That was such a wild moment because Dustin’s like 80! Still busting out five-stars. The height difference is a bit comical, though. Dustin is 6’6″, but Cody’s contract is much bigger. Is she done making jokes? Dustin says he pays more quarterly in taxes than Britt makes in both wrestling and dentistry combined! But yes, that was a five-star match. And wait, did Britt’s boyfriend win Match of the Year? No, Dustin and Cody did. So yes, the action figures honoring that moment is so great for them both. Maybe you should think before you speak, little Ms. Dentist. That’s Dr. Baker to you. Dustin asks if Rebel’s gonna talk. She’s the better part of the duo, after all.
Britt cuts everyone off and says Dustin knows how to do a proper half face paint. But he’s a bit grumpy today, got that darkness in his heart. Is this the Dark Order bringing that out of him? OoOh~! Yes, tomorrow night, Dustin faces “Number 10” on Dynamite. But while Preston Vance is a big boy, Dustin’s just as big. There are issues with the Dark Order and the Nightmare Family. For five long decades, Dustin’s legacy has been intact. Dustin will go to the ends of the world to end the Dark Order, and that starts with Number 10! He better be listening! He better come strong! Dustin’s bringing it all! This “80 year old man” still has a lot left!
Well Britt will let Dustin go so he can make it for his bed time. And quick shout out to her former Wrestler of the Year boyfriend before our musical guest, Marko Stunt! Fun Size has a guitar and plays as he sings. “I’ve been down, I’ve been great,” he’s a little obsessed. “It’s all in my head, is what they said. I woke up dreaming in an empty bed.” Fans bring out lighters? That’s old school. Britt sings along as she jams out. “You don’t have creativity, is what they once were telling me, because they’d leave me no control. The empty space is killing me. The thought-corroded symphony. I know I’m losing all self-control.” Marko Stunt rocks the house! Get that on iTunes! And that’s all for the Waiting Room, good night!

Shanna takes a moment to steady herself before undoing the bridge. Safety first, after all. But having slayed the Slaya, is it only a matter of time before Shanna challenges the champion?

A unique combination within the group, BOOM BOOM and Number 3 team up together for the first time to prove the Dark Order is always capable! Will they show Griff Garrison and Brian Pillman Jr. that getting a fancy new team name doesn’t change the fact they should #JoinDarkOrder?

A shocker for Griff and Pillman! But they’re fired up going into an even bigger match with Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood! That’s right, Varsity Blondes take on FTR, will they not
Backstage interview with Dustin Rhodes.
The natural again speaks ot his match with Preston Vance. They’re both big boys, and there is seirous history with the Dark Order and Rhodes Family. Nothing has been forgotten. For five decades, Dustin has beat everyone from Timbuctu to Austin, Texas! Dustin again vows to go to the ends of the earth to destroy the Dark Order, and Number 10 just happens to be number one on his list! Tomorrow, Dustin VS Vance, who will be ready for this battle?
Backstage interview with the Varsity Blondes!
A big win for Griff Garrison and Brian Pillman Jr, but they’re going right into a fight with FTR. Cabana and Reynolds were a tough challenge, Cash and Dax will be even tougher. Nothing they can’t handle! Take a look around the locker room, and what do you see? The best tag team division on the planet today! You might say the Blondes are young and inexperienced, but they make up for it in athletics and genetics. BPJ, Griff Garrison, the Varsity Blondes will take the ball and run with it! But will they score a touchdown on perhaps the roughest, toughest, and meanest team in AEW?
A good episode, but I do have to say something. AEW Dark making every episode 15, 16, 17 matches long and then with other segments added, this is just getting ridiculous. Can this all please be split up a bit better? Put some of this on as a Thursday show, then the rest on Tuesdays, so that what end up being two to almost three hour marathons are a pair of hour long shows. Call Thursday’s AEW Light to parallel/oppose Dark. Those who “get” why this show is called Dark will have a nice laugh, those who don’t still get a more manageable amount of filler wrestling to watch. Make AEW Light where the “fun” stuff happens, like the Waiting Room. At a certain point, make Dark the show where the rough stuff happens. Just do something so there’s even time to watch everything before other things are on.
By the way, Stunt really did rock, that was a great musical performance from him. Acclaimed continue to do very well, especially Caster’s rap promos on his way out. All the wins tonight made sense, as they always do on Dark. I will say Varsity Blondes winning surprised me, but it made a lot of sense given their match with FTR for Dynamite. And it accomplished two things: the AEW Tag Team Division does look strong since even “midcard” guys like Griff and BPJ can beat a group like The Dark Order; and it makes Dark actually unpredictable, which only helps the viewing potential. Yes, as I already hinted, I get the meaning of it being “Dark,” but since these are not truly dark matches because we’re seeing them, make them feel as important for the audience as they do in kayfabe for the wrestlers.
My Score: 8.1/10
Mitchell’s AEW Dark Results & Report! (1/31/23)
Orlando stays Dark!
Universal Studios is still the AEW Dark Arena!
As they prepare to go after the AEW World Trios Championships, AR Fox & Top Flight reunite to take on The Wingmen: Peter Avalon, Ryan Nemeth & Cezar Bononi!
- Six Man Tag: AR Fox & Top Flight VS The Wingmen; Fox & Top Flight win.
- Red Velvet VS Sofia Castillo; Velvet wins.
- Zack Clayton VS Fulton; Clayton wins.
- Brock Anderson & Brian Pillman Jr. w/ Arn Anderson VS Rosario Grillo & Dean Alexander; Anderson & Pillman win.
- Skye Blue VS Renee Michelle; Skye wins.
- Shane Taylor Promotions VS Mr. G & Dante Casanova; Shane Taylor Promotions wins.
- Yuka Sakazaki VS Avery Breaux; Yuka wins.
- The Workhorsemen VS Liam Gray & Adrian Alanis; The Workhorsemen win.
- Angelico w/ Serpentico & Luther VS Konosuke Takeshita; Konosuke wins.
A solid line-up, and I like that we’re getting to see Brock Anderson & Brian Pillman Jr. in action together after a backstage promo on Elevation not too long ago. Not sure what the team name is but two second generation stars together is a logical combination. Angelico VS Konosuke, that is going to be a great match, but I give the win to Konosuke. Red Velvet is in action again after also being on Elevation, she’s definitely building momentum towards taking on Jade Cargill for Jade’s 50th match. And good to see Shane Taylor Promotions in action here. They’ll be a strong part of the ROH Tag Team Division, even after having lost to Keith Lee after Swerve abandoned Keith.
And good to see AR Fox & Top Flight in action, and against The Wingmen. For one, good to see Avalon, Nemeth & Bononi teaming all together again. And this will be a good match to build momentum for Fox & Flight.

Can All Heart overcome the Swiss Superman?
The ROH World Championship returns to AEW Dark: Elevation, and Claudio Castagnoli takes on Blake Christian. Will All Heart survive the Swiss Superman?
- Red Velvet VS Billie Starkz; Velvet wins.
- Alex Reynolds & John Silver VS The Workhorsemen; Reynolds & Silver win.
- Rush w/ Jose the Assistant VS Brian Pillman Jr; Rush wins.
- Athena & Diamante VS Skye Blue & Yuka Sakazaki; Skye & Yuka win.
- Top Flight VS Ari Daivari & Tony Nese w/ Mark Sterling; Top Flight wins.
- The Kings of the Black Throne w/ Julia Hart VS Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum; The Kings of the Black Throne win.
- ROH World Championship: Claudio Castagnoli VS Blake Christian; Claudio wins.
A pretty good line-up, and I think Athena will end up in a program for her ROH Women’s Championship coming out of that tag match. Good tune-up match for Top Flight going into their AEW World Trios Championship program with the Elite, that should be a good win. And Blake Christian is going places. He’s had good stints on NJPW Strong, he’s in ROH and AEW, he’s going to give Claudio a great match. Claudio will still win, this is mostly to get things going towards Supercard of Honor on March 31st, but Blake could easily find himself going for a midcard title like the ROH Pure Championship or AEW All-Atlantic Championship.
