Tony Nese & Ariya Daivari VS The Bollywood Boyz!

It’s a battle of 205 Live OG’s! The Premier Athlete and Persian Lion say it’s on Samir & Sunil Singh for failing them in that huge Fatal 5 Way #1 Contender’s match roughly a month ago. But will the brothers Singh make Nese and Daivari feel like extras under the lights, cameras and BOLLY BOLLY BOLLYWOOD action?

The teams sort out and Nese starts with Sunil. They circle, fans chant “Tony Sucks!” but Tony powers Sunil to the corner! Tag to Daivari and these OG double whip Sunil. Sunil kicks and clobbers them back! Sunil wrenches Daivari’s arm, yanks it, and tags Samir in. Daivari is fed to Samir’s boots, Sunil’s jawbreaker, and Samir’s flying clothesline! Sunil shoulders into Nese, throws a forearm, then leaps to ax handle! Sunil rallies on Nese, spins him around and hits a neckbreaker of his own! Then an atomic drop and WINDMILL KCIK! Cover, TWO! Nese drags Sunil out hard, gets back up on the apron and baits Samir! Daivari gets Samir for an URENAGE! PREMIER KNEE for Sunil, LION SPLASH for Samir! Cover, Daivari and Nese win!

Winners: Ariya Daivari & Tony Nese, by pinfall

Daivari Dinero and Tony Abs upstage the Bollywood Boyz and have the spotlight on them! Will they be the ones we have to call the best tag team on 205 Live? Or will there be a sequel that’s truly better than the original?

Six Man Tag: El Legado del Fantasma VS Curt Stallion, August Grey & Ashante “Thee” Adonis!

This match may have already happened in the shadow of WarGames, but now it gets to shine brightly under the lights of the purple ‘n’ orange! Santos Escobar, Raul Mendoze and Joaquin Wilde bested the Lonestar, #RetroAG and Ashante, but will that be turned around tonight on 205 Live?

The trios sort out and Adonis starts with Mendoza. They circle, put up their dukes, and tie up. They go around and Mendoza wrenches to a wristlock. Adonis wrenches back but so does Mendoza. Adonis spins through, wrenches again, has the wristlock back, and then hammerlocks. Mendoza gets a leg, puts Adonis in a corner but Adonis turns it around. The ref counts, Adonis lets off but Mendoza knees low! Mendoza clamps on tight, Adonis fights up and out, and gets the headlock onto Mendoza! Mendoza powers out, Adonis runs him over!

Adonis says Mendoza needs to stop playing, and then he speeds things up. Adonis hops over Mendoza’s drop down to whip him to ropes, but MEndoza reverses. Adonis goes up and over, keeps moving, and handsprings through the hip toss to arm-drag Mendoza! And judo throw! Wilde runs in but into a FLAPJACK! Adonis kips up, Escobar talks trash so he gets an Air Drop! Adonis DECKS Mendoza, then tags in Stallion! Stallion is fired up and he DIVES into a kick! Mendoza CHOPS Stallion and tags to Wilde. Wilde stomps Stallion, talks some trash, then CHOPS him! Tag to Escobar and the champion finally goes after his challenger with furious knees! Escobar drags Stallion up, puts him back in the corner and CHOPS him! Stallion goes down and Escobar covers, ONE!! Escobar stomps away on Stallion and gives him Kowata kicks over an dover! The fans boo but Escobar stomps Stallion more. Tag to Wilde, Wilde takes Stallion up to snap suplex him down! Wilde drags Stallion but Stallion kicks him away! Hot tag to Grey! Grey dodges Wilde to RANA him away! Wilde staggers into a jawbreaker and neckbreaker!

Grey drags Wilde up to kick but Wilde shove shim. Wilde runs in, but into a rebound gut wrench BOMB! Cover, TWO! Grey keeps on Wilde but Wilde knees low and hard! Wilde brings Grey over, tags Mendoza, and El Legado mugs Grey. Mendoza CHOPS Grey, whip him corner to corner but Grey BOOTS him! Grey hops up  and victory rolls, TWO! Grey throws big haymakers on Mendoza but Mendoza shoves. Grey kicks Mendoza away, but Escobar dumps Grey out of the ring! Tag to Wilde and Wilde stomps Grey down! Wilde puts Grey back in, stomps him, and covers, TWO! Wilde puts Grey back in the corner and tags in Escobar.

Escobar throws hands, then runs to sucker punch Adonis and Stallion! Escobar runs in to corner clothesline and tag Wilde, who does the same to tag Mendoza! Mendoza hits a third clothesline to tag Escobar, and Escobar hits DOUBLE KNEES! BRAIN BUSTER, to Wilde’s SPLASH! Cover, TWO!! Grey survives but Wilde drags him away. Wilde cravats and cranks Grey down, but Grey fights up and throws body shots. Wilde clubs Grey down, stomps on a hand, then sucker punches Adonis and Stallion! Grey CHOPS but Wilde cravats! Escobar just stays where he is as Stallion climbs up top. Stallion SPLASHES down! Cover, but Mendoza breaks it!

Adonis AIR DROPS Mendoza, but Escobar CALF KICKS Adonis! Escobar has Adonis but Grey missile dropkicks him out! Grey runs and slides, but Escobar gets under to DECK Grey in return! Wilde BOOTS Stallion onto ropes and then fires off! Wilde and Mendoza coordinate, but Adonis trips Mendoza! Stallion rolls Wilde up, Stallion’s team wins!!

Winners: Curt Stallion, August Grey & Ashante “Thee” Adonis, by pinfall

But El Legado mugs the Lonestar! Escobar grins as Wilde and Mendoza have hold of Stallion, but Grey and Adonis get back in! Wilde and Mendoza get to the apron but Stallion CLOBBERS them off the apron! Escobar has his men stand down, because he knows Stallion is coming for him. Escobar laughs now as he and Legado leave, and he says “You will never be the champ.” Will Stallion prove Escobar wrong when these two finally fight for the Cruiserweight Championship?

My Thoughts:

A pretty good match, but that “deja vu” is an interesting move. There was nothing wrong with having the Six Man here, but it does bring into question the entire reason for the “bonus” match from TakeOver. Were they just testing out El Legado VS Stallion and friends? Was that supposed to be a kickoff match that they just forgot to make a kickoff match? But having the rematch here was a good move, because 205 Live has needed to feel like it connects to NXT in a meaningful way. Now we just need Stallion to actually be on NXT to help build the title match before we actually have it.

Then Bollywood Boyz VS Daivari & Nese was a nice surprise, and was a good opener. I figure at this point, though we’re maybe never getting Cruiserweight tag titles, 205 Live tag teams should be considered in the NXT Tag Division’s rankings. Daivari & Nese should build up as a team, or help Bollywood Boyz build up, and the winner of this feud gets to join in on what we’re seeing with Ever-Rise, Imperium, Grizzled Young Veterans and Lorcan-Burch. And since Oney and Burch are under 205, they should pop in every so often to bring that McAfee swagger they have now and rub in that they were pillars of the brand. A bit of an offshoot of how Nese and Daivari spin things, but those two duos could have a great Heel VS Heel program for the tag titles.

My Score: 8.1/10
