In the background of HyruleMania, the stars of HPW speak to media!

The Celebration of Greatness is more than just in the ring! Hear from the winners and losers of HPW’s first-ever HyruleMania!

After the HPW Death Mountain Championship Ladder Match:

Gold Lynel walks in, title around his waist.

Lynel grabs a bottle of water from the table as he walks past, chugs it down and goes right to the photoshoot area. He tosses the bottle aside, gets his pictures taken with the belt, then simply says, “Challenge me, if you dare. I’ll be waiting.”

The Great Fairy is helped to the back.

She’s obviously still sore from being powerbomb’d onto a ladder. “This is what I expected, though. Ladders are hard. They hurt to fall on.” She was already worried about the match just on the ladders and there being more than one opponent. But then Gold Lynel shows up and Fairy just knew it’d be impossible. Lynel wasn’t even what took her out, but still.

Ashei and Nabooru walk in together, arguing.

Ashei is upset Nabooru fell on her but Nabooru keeps explaining Lynel shoved her off the ladder. Nabooru tells the cameras that keeping Gold Lynel as a secret wasn’t playing fair. Sure, it was a ladder match, but Lynel is so big, he probably only needed a step ladder to grab at the title. Ashei is pretty sure he’s not that tall. Nabooru says she was exaggerating, for comedy. Does Ashei know comedy? Ashei shrugs that comment off to say she does agree, Lynel being included without being announced wasn’t fair of management. “Lynel better be a fighting champion. Not like in UHF.”

Fin Balure goes right up to the camera.

“HPW, don’t bother looking for the first challenger to the new Death Mountain Champion. He’s right here. The Prince is going to climb the mountain and push Gold Lynel right the hell off it.” With that, Balure leaves and it is on HPW to make the match!

After the HPW Trios Championships Elimination Match:

The Doom Bringers enter backstage.

Doom Knocker says, “That Knuckle. Still damn tough.” And he has to give it up to the Dark Nuts, too. They did pretty good. But of course it came down to him and Knuckle. “But don’t think this is the end of it! We’re gonna come back for more!” The Doom Bringers head out, when and where will they come back for the Trios Championships?

Forged By Violence celebrate!

They crack cans of beer open, toast them together hard enough to splash beer onto themselves and the belts on their shoulders, then chug! Iron Knuckle lets out a satisfied, “Ahhhh…!” as he finishes, and then they all smash the cans on their foreheads! Knuckle says, “Much respect to ol’ Knocker, he and his guys really pushed us. But there was no doom being brought today.” The Nuts held their own, too. They’re all only getting stronger. “That is what it means to be Forged By Violence.” The champions head out, but who will be next to challenge their dominance?

After the HPW Termina Championship Match:

Osphala is being helped into the back.

He takes a seat and takes a few breaths. Osphala is quiet as he’s thinking. “I said I respected Igos du Ikana before this match. I said I respected him, and I would give my all to take that title from him. Igos said he respected me, didn’t he? Well now that I think about it, I didn’t hear the word ‘respect’ said, so maybe he never did.” After all, why would he have Captain Keeta get involved like that? Maybe instead of respect, it was fear and desperation they felt with Osphala in the ring. Well Osphala no longer feels respect for them, either. Osphala’s angry, and he isn’t going to forget this.

Igos du Ikana is welcomed by the Ikana Royal Family.

Captain Keeta is right behind Igos as Stal-Kid, Sir Hurr and Sir Durr are singing Igos’ praises. They help him take a seat at a table and Durr even pops the cap off a bottle for him. Igos takes the bottle, takes a few big chugs, then has a satisfied sigh as he sets the bottle down. “I said it before, I’ll say it again. This belt is part of us. Part of our bodies, part of our hearts, part of our souls. You will not take that from me, no matter how hard you try.” Then Igos leads the family in a toast to Termina Championship Wrestling’s legacy, the HPW Termina Championship, and to his victory. Will they be toasting even more in the new year?

After the debut of the UnderWorld Order:

The uWo itself enters the back first!

Death Sword, Gomess and ReDead swagger in, and Irene is there to ask them a question. “ReDead, when did you make this deal with Death Sword and Gomess?” ReDead says, “Well let me tell you something, Mean Irene! It should be obvious, shouldn’t it? It was that first night, at Clash of Fates! Didn’t you dummies notice how Death Sword went after Volga and Gibdo but not me?” It was that night that Death Sword told ReDead to ditch the “Dork Forces” and join up with him!

Or how about at Biron Snowshelf back in November? Who was Death Sword attacking? Not ReDead! Gomess was carrying ReDead, but that was so ReDead could hide in plain sight. ReDead was laughing to himself how Volga and the others never considered one of their own when trying to predict the third partner. Gomess speaks up and says, “Don’t think we didn’t notice Forged By Violence held onto the Trios Championships. So what if there was no doom? Doesn’t mean their reign won’t end.” Death Sword says, “Everything dies eventually. It’s only a matter of where and when.” They head out into the night, when and where will they go after the Trios Champions?

Cia and the Dark Forces walk in.

Volga, Wizzro and Gibdo are obviously in rough shape and are given lots of ice packs. Cia is seething as she paces. “ReDead… ReDead, ReDead, ReDead!” She stammers as she tries to figure out something to say. But then someone walks over and speaks up. It’s Lana! She only just signed with HPW a couple weeks agoAnd she’s Cia’s sister! Cia glares at Lana but Lana says she’s not here to fight. Lana wanted to see if they were all okay. “What? You attack me out of nowhere, screw me over, and the next time I see you, you want to make nice?!” Yes, because that’s how having regret works! Lana wanted to apologize for that.

Well Cia doesn’t want to hear it, so Lana can just go back to whatever stupid modeling project she’s working on now. Lana can’t believe Cia is being so cold! She’s just trying to help! Well don’t! It’s just sad. Lana frowns and storms off, and maybe for just a second, Cia feels a twinge of regret herself. Will these sisters ever be reconciled? And how will the Dark Forces respond to the uWo?

After the HPW Goddess Championship Match:

Midna walks in, oddly content.

“That’s exactly what I was hoping for. Well, no, not exactly. I wanted to win, duh. But the match itself. That was powerful. That was thrilling! That was what I was hoping Zelda would bring!” Midna understands what Zelda has been saying, how Zelda isn’t wrestling to live up to the family name but to prove she herself is a great wrestler. But in the end, Zelda not only lived up to her name but exceeded expectations. She clearly did better than Midna expected, because Zelda won. Midna says Zelda can hold her head up high with this one. “But don’t think I won’t come back for the belt. Happy New Year, Princess.”

Zelda walks in, still crying tears of joy.

There to greet her is her father, Nicolas Foolyere. She smiles and gives him a big hug. He says he’s very proud of her, and she thanks him. She sits down at the table, shares the champagne with her father, and they toast to her victory. But Zelda doesn’t drink too much, she has something to say. “I thank the fans for cheering and supporting me today. I thank the fans for putting up with me this whole time. I thank Midna for the amazing match we just had. There’s a reason she had the title, big or small. She’s tough, savvy, aggressive. If she wins her way back up, I’ll gladly face her. But I do have my own plans for the new year.” Nicolas asks what they are but Zelda says they’re a surprise. What does the Princess of Hyrule have planned now that she’s a Goddess?

After Rauru’s Career on the Line Match:

Ghirahim comes in first, laughing!

Ghirahim laughs as he goes past the table and right up to the camera. He grabs the camera to hold it still, and he shouts “I TOLD YOU!” Ghirahim said he was better than Rauru, and he proved it! Admittedly, Ghirahim didn’t go all the way like he said. Rauru was still able to walk and use his arms, but Ghirahim isn’t a complete monster. But it doesn’t matter, Rauru is gone and the roster improves because of it! “Now, where the hell is that fish I need to fry?” Ghirahim storms off, does he already have a plan for his next target?

Rauru walks in, greeted by applause.

Nicolas Foolyere, Humpack Hook Halibut, Starfish McMaguro, and several different HPW wrestlers are there, clapping for the Sage of Light’s final trip back through the curtain. Rauru is very touched to see them all there, and he shakes hands and even hugs management. Groose and Tingle, though not on the card tonight, are here to shake hands and even bow with respect to Rauru. Forged By Violence came back around to do the same, as did Ashei, Nabooru, The Great Fairy, Fin Balure, Osphala, Midna and Zelda.

Link is last in line, and this is the first time the others get to see him in his Hero of Old ring gear. Rauru smiles as he gets a good look at Link. Rauru pats Link on the shoulders, and tells him to “Give Ganondorf hell!” Link smiles and nods before shaking Rauru’s hand and giving a bow of respect. With this, Link goes to the curtain. Was that last bit of encouragement from the living legend what helped Link take the fight to the Gerudo Ace?

After the HPW Triforce Championship Match:

Ganondorf walks in, head looking down at the floor.

He lets out a single chuckle. “The boy from nowhere finally became a man. It took facing 32 other wrestlers to do it, but hey, he still beat me on his own.” Link came with a lot of fire, which is always great, and he had that on Eventide, but this was different. “This was him wanting to kick my ass! And that’s what I wanted! I wanted to see him want to kick my ass.” Ganondorf respects Link now for getting angry, for getting mad. That Link should’ve been the one who won in the first place, “where was that 8 months ago? That guy wouldn’t have lost the title.” But don’t mistake all this talk for respect. Ganondorf is now going to work his way back up to kick Link’s ass.

Link returns, and there’s applause for him, too!

It’s just Nicolas Foolyere, Tingle, and Groose, but then Ashei, Osphala, and even Zelda come back around. Tingle says how strange this is. “We all could’ve had belts if things were different!” Groose gives Tingle a push in the shoulder to scold him for bringing that up. Ashei says Tingle does have a point, though. It was a tough night for her and Osphala. But she still congratulates Zelda and Link on their wins tonight. Then Ashei jokingly laments the tough decision she has to make in the new year. Will she go after the Goddess Championship, the Death Mountain Championship or the Triforce Championship?

The others chuckle, and Groose gives Link a hard pat on the back in congratulations. “I knew you’d do it!” And Groose is super confident that whoever challenges him next, Link will beat them, too! Osphala says it was Groose’s confidence in Link that might have jinxed him before Treasure Island. Groose clears his throat to move past that comment. He vows on behalf of The Studly Guys that they’ll be champions in the new year so they can stand alongside Zelda and Link! Where is Skull Kid, by the way? Skull Kid said he was going to go mask shopping. He likes his signature skull mask but he wants something cooler and tougher looking so he’ll have more confidence.

HPW Media’s Paya nervously asks how Link is feeling. Link nods and gives a thumbs up before cracking open a beer. Will the first-ever two-time Triforce Champion make this new reign far better than the first?

My Thoughts:

Happy New Year, everyone! HPW is getting going in 2021 already! Though obviously this is more like leftovers from 2020, even though it was just yesterday. I think the best of these was the last one, having Link and various major characters in the Legend of Zelda franchise together a group of friendly rivals, possibly even as classmates from the HPW dojo. And I do have a plan for Zelda’s “surprise” in the new year. Can anyone guess it?
