Raw Talk faces Backlash!

WWE Raw Talk

Statement makers, bone breakers, title takers, Raw Talkers?

Monday Night Raw handled the WrestleMania Backlash aftermath, but we’re still getting some Raw Talk from the NEW WWE Women’s Tag Champions!

Kevin Patrick welcomes us back to the show!

Just 24 hours after a gripping #WrestleManiaBacklash, we saw all the aftermath play out on Raw! Kevin has to start on a somber note as R-Truth is without his 24/7 Championship. Kevin apologizes for his part in what happened. Truth was doing just fine, K-Peezy. Well Kevin is a journalist, but he never intended his interview to result in Truth losing the title. Whose side is he on, anyway? He’s on Truth’s side! Kevin apologizes but Truth asks him if he understands what it’s like to be 24/7 48-7 Champion. He doesn’t. Truth doesn’t get sleep! He’s been fine, holding that belt for a long time, and then K-Peezy asks him about whatever! It wasn’t the right time!

This business is all about timing! And Kevin cost Truth because it wasn’t the right time, wanting to talk about what? Just some stuff… To think that pesky little Tozawa was hiding upstairs. Truth looks tired. He is. But he has to stay awake, watch his own back, sides and front. Kevin wishes Truth could feel the remorse he feels right now. Truth’s been here with Kevin since Kevin started here, and he feels bad. Truth says he’s trying not to be too hard on Kevin, but the title is his baby. Kevin promises that he will do everything he can to help get that belt back. He means it. This hurts Kevin, too. Truth says let’s just start the show. Aw man…

Well that said, maybe the show will get Truth in a better mood. Tonight on Raw, we saw Kofi Kingston have quite the night! Kofi beats Randy Orton 1v1, answers an open challenge that turned out to not be for the WWE World Championship, but Kofi still beats Lashley 1v1! There was some help, but a win is a win. And similarly, Charlotte Flair lost to Asuka, but with Rhea Ripley ringside. And the beef between Damian Priest and John Morrison has been laid to rest in another Lumberjack match. Kevin feels bad, he can’t keep going with Truth looking at him like that. No, keep going, you were doing fine. That was good and has Truth up to date now. Alright…

Morrison dedicated his match tonight to The Miz, who because of the unforeseen circumstances of zombies at Backlash, could not be here tonight. As for Raw Talk, our guests are the New Day, Kofi & Xavier, as well as Angel Garza and the NEW WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Tamina & Natalya! Kevin is very excited, Truth is getting back in a good mood, and we’ll be back with the Queen of Harts & Daughter of Superfly after the break!

Tamina & Natalya join Raw Talk!

Friday night was historic as Natty & Tamina took the titles off Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler! What an emotional night! Kevin was holding back tears. Natty & Tamina are still processing this, too. Whether you love them or hate them, everyone respects them. Spotlight on Tamina! 4008 days and she finally did it! Statement makers, bone breakers, and truly title takers! Great stuff! They were on Talking Smack, they were so fired up talking to Kayla Braxton and Paul Heyman, what was that like given the history within both their families? What was it like with everyone contacting them? Was Truth emotional? Kevin again apologizes for the 24/7 title loss.

But Natty & Tamina say Truth is their ride or die. Not to brag, but might as well, right? They do come from two of the greatest, most prestigious wrestling dynasties ever, the Samoans and the Harts! And thinking about TJ Wilson, aka Tyson Kidd… Truth is so pumped up to hear about TJ! Tamina says he needs to calm down, she’s the tag partner here. But he is just assisting them. Like an alley oop. Well yes, but TJ showed Natty a picture of Yokozuna and Owen Hart, and they were tag team champions. Natty looked back to that picture on the way to this win. Tamina representing her family, Natty representing hers, destiny is always chasing. And when you finally fulfill your destiny, some people go their whole lives without doing that, but they did it!

Truth is again pumped up but Tamina wants him to stop, he’s too loud. Sorry… But how was the weekend, taking it all in? Tamina feels very grateful and blessed. They had so many people, so many fans reaching out, thanking them, congratulating them. Truth says he was part of that. Is eh Tamina? No he’s Truth. Then stop talking when she’s talking. Natty thinks Tamina’s about to put Truth in a headlock. But as she was saying, she is so grateful to the WWE Universe. This was amazing, truly. Everything they’ve worked hard for, this is it. You go and never stop after your dreams. Does Truth understand? Yes, he feels the same! Understand that, Kevin!

Natty says that it is so great to see it come full circle. It was a great feeling knowing their work paid off. Kevin says that is beautiful, but they’ve got targets on their back. They retained, but they were on Alexa’s Playground. That was weird. Just being there felt strange. Stranger danger! Alexa smelled like mothballs. Is that Lily or what? It got weirder and weirder, but the champs had to stay focused. All Alexa wanted to talk about was gross stuff. She was weird, smelled weird, Lily looks weird, all so weird. Alexa is… She’s just creepy now. And she was watching their title match. That pyro stuff was weird, too.

And don’t get Natty started on Reggie! If Reggie slides into Tamina’s DM’s again, yikes! He is hollering HARD right now. Damn, Reggie! Tamina has a screenshot but Reggie says she is lying and used an app or something. Reggie ain’t shy, he’s sneaky! Reggie wants to DM her and act inappropriate, as Nia’s guy? What the heck? And he got involved in the match, he’s a snake! Truth says this is some entanglement stuff. It’s almost as weird as Alexa. Natty wants normal to be back. Harts are normal! Samoans are normal! The titles aren’t weird, they’re great, and we all look forward to seeing them continue on. Tell Reggie that Truth said sup. Y’know what you can tell Reggie? Whoa, now THAT is vulgar.

Angel Garza joins Raw Talk!

The suave, arrogant Lethal Lothario is dapper again, and he knows it. Did Truth see what Garza’s been doing to Drew Gulak? What’s he got against Gulak? Garza says that ever since he was a kid, his father and uncle and grandfather always taught him to be a man of his word. He promised the first time, he’d shove the rose right up Gulak’s you know where. Where? He wants to know? Garza whispers it. Whoa, you can’t say that on air. Exactly. That rose ain’t gonna grow no more. Why’d he do that? Because he promised to! But why? Gulak seems like a nice guy. No he’s not. Well what did Gulak do to him? He got in Garza’s way.

Kevin says there’s been a switch in Garza. He’s more aggressive. That bell rings, and Garza turns it on. Garza says one day he was on a bed of roses, looked himself in the mirror, and said that he was handsome, but he hadn’t achieved his goals. So he needed more passion, more aggression, more everything. And that is why when the bell rings, you see a new Garza. And if he says he’s gonna shove a rose somewhere, he’ll do it. A man of his word. Is Truth a man of his word? Yes. Has he promised something before? Well he doesn’t want to put anything out there but…

So what is next for Garza? Gold! Shoving roses, nothing is gonna stop him. He is laser focused, and we will see big things for the new Garza! Want some roses? No thanks… In that case, Garza heads out, will he get at the gold he wants?

The New Day join Raw Talk!

Today is a good day! The Power of Positivity holds it down! You see what Kofi did? Kofi gets on the table to do some moves, then carefully climbs back down. Today was a good day at work. Kevin can’t believe it! Pinning Orton, then pinning Lashley! Kofi be putting in work! Real dap dap! No underneath! Lashley put Truth in the Nelson from Simpsons, but not Kofi! Kofi watched tape of Truth getting put in the Hurt Lock, so Kofi knew what not to do. Thanks, Truth. Truth took the Nelson so that Kofi could deliver the victory! Kofi scouts everything. They stand on the shoulders of giants to see further ahead. Truth doesn’t know Jay-Z, huh?

Kevin says Kofi pinned some serious veterans in Lashley and Orton. Kofi’s done big things before but it’s only been about 30 minutes since it happened. He doesn’t know where this ranks in his career, but Kofi just pinned the WWE World Champion. Woods and Truth want to hear that again! KOFI KINGSTON, JUST PINNED, the WWE WORLD CHAMPION~! Tell Kofi this: since Lashley has become champion, how many have pinned him? ONE! ONE!! KOFI! Kofi just pinned the WWE World Champion! When you stay ready, you never have to get ready! Then when the time comes, you can capitalize, like the alphabet! Uppercase! Capital letters!

So are they saying Kofi will be a TWO-TIME… Say it like you mean it, now. Kofi doesn’t like counting chickens before they hatch, and somehow this seat got lower before Kofi got out here so Kofi’s gonna raise it back up! Kofi is feeling on top of the mountain! Truth is smiling ear to ear as Kofi says you never know when you get your shot. When you step up to the plate, you Babe Ruth it! SMACK! HOMER! Woods tracks the ball. BRR! BRR! BRR! Car alarm, cuz it’s in the parking lot! The Maserati! You gotta pop out the stadium to get it! Who’s car got hit? Doesn’t matter, it’s not Kofi’s!

Woods says Kofi’s BEEN doing this! He’s beaten multiple legends since he’s been here! This isn’t something Kofi just figured out how to do! He’s been rolling! Crushing! Night after night after night! How many people does he have to face? Five? Six? Seven eight nine ten!? He’ll do it all, and that is why he will stand on top of the world! Get on the table! Do your dance! BAH BAH BAH! Kofi will be champion again! Why are they playing the New Day off? They’re online! On their own thing! They can keep going! What time do we have to kill!? Kofi wants BUCKETS! Ice buckets! Ice that shoulder.

Kofi knows he got hit by a Mack truck, but he survived! The adrenaline will eventually wear off, he’ll be in pain, but tonight, right now, Kofi feeling it! Where’s the camera? Right here? Kofi gets right up in it and says he just pinned THE WWE World Champion! UGH! Showing off them hips! And soon, he shall be the NEW~, W! W! E! WORLD! HEAVY! WEIGHT! CHAMPIOOOON~! Truth says they are going too far! No such thing, Truth! Didn’t Truth used to hit people with lead pipes?! You thought they forgot!? Truth and Miz put the whole roster on notice once! Truth changes the subject with “NEW! DAY ROCKS! NEW! DAY ROCKS!”

The music plays them off again, the New Day are fired up! Kevin says we all love them, and that’s it for the week, even as Kofi says they’ll go tot he snowcaps of the mountain! Kofi works overtime! What?! He’s off the clock, still working! He might go to a 24 hour gym or something! To quote Booker T, Kofi is feeling GOODT! Don’t cut away! What’s happening? Is the show over? Sky cam? KOFI KINGSTON! PINNED! THE WWE! WORLD CHAMPION! LET’S GO!!

My Thoughts:

What a great episode, and mostly for the New Day’s segment. They always have great energy, Truth adds to that, and it was just amazing and hilarious the entire last portion of the show. I love that the show tried to cut away, the New Day kept going, kept the show going, until it was apparently the absolute barrier of time they’re allowed. Woods had a good point shouting in there about them not needing to go away when it’s the WWE Network and Peacock, it’s online, there’s no other show they have to get to. Especially since with the Peacock, it is an independent stream from the WWE “channel” they offer. I’m sure we’re getting Lashley VS Kofi for the title between now and Hell in the Cell, but I have a feeling all this hype will be for naught as Lashley probably isn’t losing to Kofi.

Garza’s was quick, but it was concise and got the bare bones that this is “a new” Garza that will be more aggressive. To be fair, he was pretty aggressive when it was him, Andrade Almas and Zelina Vega, but then he had his period right after that trio broke up and he took things easy. This isn’t so much “a new” Garza as a return to that Garza, which is good. He might be on the outside looking in on titles for a minute, though. I wouldn’t mind seeing if Garza could bring the fight to Sheamus, the same as Ricochet and Garza’s own cousin, Humberto Carrillo, have.

Natty and Tamina had a nice segment, Natty sure said “weird” a lot with talking about Alexa, and I like that they’re suddenly throwing out that Reggie is trying to get at Tamina. It does work for his character, as it seemed like he was with Carmella (as a sommelier) but trying to get with Sasha Banks (as a sommelier). And now that he’s with Nia (as boyfriend it seems), he’s looking to change things up again. This could be the exit strategy for Shayna, Nia and Reggie so that everyone can go for their own interests. I still want to see Reggie on 205 Live, flipping and flying around with some of the best over there.

Mitchell’s AEW Continental Classic Update! (11/27/23)

What a start to the tournament!

Did your picks win points?

The AEW Continental Classic is underway, with almost everyone competing. Check in here if you haven’t seen the winners and losers of week 1!

Here are your Gold League standings!

  • Jon Moxley: 1-0, 3 points
  • Swerve Strickland: 1-0, 3 points
  • Jay White: 1-0, 3 points
  • Rush: 0-1, 0 points
  • Mark Briscoe: 0-1, 0 points.
  • Jay Lethal: 0-1, 0 points

Here are your Blue League standings!

  • Brody King: 1-0, 3 points
  • Claudio Castagnoli: 1-0, 3 points
  • Daniel Garcia: 0-1, 0 points
  • Eddie Kingston: 0-1, 0 points
  • Bryan Danielson: Yet to Compete
  • Andrade El Idolo: Yet to Compete

My Thoughts:

Nothing too crazy, nothing too wild, this tournament only just got started. The only disappointing point is that they could not get Bryan “cleared to compete” Saturday night. Not sure how much of that is shoot given the bad eye, but this was kinda the problem of wanting him in the tournament over tons of other choices. Bryan wants to face Okada for WrestleKingdom 18, how is Bryan supposed to do that at his best if he’s also gonna be in a round robin, doing five top level matches in about as many weeks? And it takes away from Andrade being able to do something. Also a little surprised we didn’t even hear from Andrade on Saturday.

Now as we heard on Saturday, round two’s matches are set. Gold League will see Mark Briscoe VS Rush, White VS Swerve, and of course, Moxley VS Lethal. Nice variety there, a couple 0-1 guys facing off, as well as two 1-0 guys, and then 1-0 VS 0-1. No offense to Lethal, but he feels like an 0-2 going up against Moxley. Hard to call the other ones but that’s the fun of it. Meanwhile, Blue League sees Brody VS Claudio in a showdown to be 2-0, then Bryan and Andrade finally jump in, Bryan against Eddie and Andrade against Garcia. Sadly, feels like Eddie and Garcia are going 0-2, no way Tony Khan is booking Bryan and Andrade to lose their first shots.

In fact, that could be half the reason they did wait on those two, that’s almost too good for just a first round opener. But I still would’ve done it, same as NJPW does stuff like that for round robins, which this is all modeled after anyway.
