AEW turns Orlando’s Universal Studios into a Dark place!

And though it isn’t scary, hearts will be pounding as Orange Cassidy and friends take on the HFO! Will Jora Johl earn his keep as he teams alongside The Hybrid2?

QUICK NOTES

This is the first of a few episodes taped at the Universal Studios studio in Orlando, and that in itself is pretty exciting for AEW. It’s a logical move to have Cargill and Hirsch have tune-up matches here before their match on Dynamite this week. I really feel Hirsch is going to give Cargill the toughest match of her career, but I don’t see her winning with Cargill being built up so strongly. With Shawn Spears being in action after him and Tully punking out Darby Allin and Sting, I feel like Sting and Darby should retaliate before their match on Dynamite. Butcher & Blade are probably winning for the HFO but then Johl & TH2 will lose so Cassidy and friends can close out with a Face feel good moment for the fans.

AFTER WATCHING

We got a really good standoff type promo for Cargill and Hirsch to hype up their showdown even more. And it was pretty big that for even more hyping, Hirsch got to be the main event when I really thought it was going to be the Six Man Tag. But both the Six Man and Hirsch VS King get to have about 10 minutes each of solid competition so it really works for everyone. I think AEW knows the criticism of how they’ve been scheduling their women’s division, and now they’re finding great ways to showcase that very division through all their outlets. We also got good video packages to keep the Swole VS Diamante feud alive, as well as keep things going for Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss. Bad Boy VS Concrete Rose should really build up to headline a Rampage.

A good line-up here. Just as I was wondering where Nick Comoroto was, he’s here on Dark to put AR Fox over. For those unfamiliar, Steph De Lander is formerly Persia Pirotta of NXT, though she has a very different look now, I almost didn’t recognize her. Brady Booker, formerly Bodhi Hayward, is back in action, good to see him. And while most of these matches seem pretty straight forward, I feel like Queen Aminata VS Skye Blue is the one that could go either way. Skye’s been building herself up in AEW and ROH but Aminata is impressive in her own right.
