Ruby Soho tells Kris Statlander that she “respected you before I came to AEW. And when I go there, you had my back.” Statlander says that “Unfortunately, we both knew we’d be on opposite sides of that ring eventually.” Now that they’re in each other’s way of the TBS Championship, “respect don’t mean sh*t.” The Galaxy’s Greatest Alien vows to be #YourLeader, but will the Runaway make sure she’s not our inaugural TBS Champion?

AEW hears from Hangman Page and Kenny Omega.

Hangman starts. “Last year, I had to watch as my friends were crowned tag team champions and world champion. And I stood in the distance and watched.” Jim Ross says Hangman has had a lot of heartbreak and setbacks, and Excalibur adds that you can only fall short so many times before it breaks you. But Taz knows fans have been waiting for this one for a long time. Omega says he could never relate to Hangman, but this is why the fans like to latch onto Hangman. They see themselves more than Omega ever did. Hangman dreams of winning the most prestigious title in the world, and nothing would feel better. Omega doesn’t lose big matches. Hangman always loses big matches. The Cleaner says Hangman doesn’t stand a chance, but will the Cowboy prove him wrong?

The Super Kliq speaks.

Are they finally live? Alright! CACAW~! How good was it to see Jungle Boy get his ass whooped? So good! But speaking of, Cole wants to talk with the Bucks about him. Cole’s known this guy for a really long time, so let him introduce Bobby Fish. Well they don’t have to do that, the Bucks know Bobby, too. Hey, Fish may be the new guy here, but Matt Jackson will make it clear. “There is no dispute. It is the Era of the Elite. It is the Era of the Super Kliq.” But if a good friend like Cole vouches for someone, then they’re cool. And Cole has an idea: In two days time, Fish VS Jungle Boy, where he can do even more damage!

But do them a little favor. Leave just enough of JB left so Cole & The Bucks can finish the job. He can do that. Cole knew he could count on Fish. And that’s a wrap. Fish looks to go on a Rampage, but will Jungle Boy get some payback before going after the Super Kliq at Full Gear?

AEW takes a closer look at Punk VS Kingston.

Taz says Kingston is a “ruthless fighter.” He’s been bred to fight, he believes in the fight, and nothing has ever come easy for him. Excalibur says when CM Punk was a rising star, Eddie Kingston was just a trainee. Kingston was someone who would carry people’s bags. That isn’t to demean him, it’s just the pecking order. But as we heard on Rampage, both men vented about how they saw the other these last 15 years. Jim Ross likes Kingston’s motivation, and thinks Punk should skip the brawling, use the wrestling and get a 1-2-3 to get the hell outta there. Kingston’s already stated he wants to beat up Punk and sideline him for another seven years. This is happening, but who will survive?!

Wardlow VS Wheeler Yuta w/ Orange Cassidy & Chuck Taylor!

The Pinnacle’s juggernaut is going up against the Best Friends’, and now Chaos’, Decoder! Will brawn break brains and make him a Casualty of Wardlow? Or will Yuta break the seven match winning streak here in Indy?

Yuta fires off forearms, Wardlow shoves him away, but Yuta goes up the corner, only to fall back into a shoulder! Yuta gets up but into a SPINEBUSTER! Wardlow seethes, drags him up and reels him in, to POWERBOMB him! But Wardlow doesn’t cover, fans want it “ONE MORE TIME!” and Wardlow gets Yuta back up for another POWERBOMB!

Wardlow paces around, fans still want “ONE MORE TIME!” so Wardlow drags Yuta up to get him up, for a third POWERBOMB! Then a roll, into a FOURTH POWERBOMB! Chuck and Cassidy can only watch as Wardlow looms over Yuta and brings him back up. Wardlow puts Yuta on the top rope, holds him up, thumbs DOWN! CASUALTY OF WAR!! Cover, Wardlow wins!

Winner: Wardlow, by pinfall

This is WARDLOW, and he is victorious. Chuck and Cassidy check on Yuta, and that’s when the HARDY FAMILY OFFICE attack! The Blade and Isiah Kassidy attack, not happy about their loss on Dark! Big Money Matt gets in the ring to join his henchmen- er, clients, and he has a chair! Hardy takes his time taking off his suit jacket and Isiah vlogs this. Hardy JAMS Cassidy with a chair, puts it around Cassidy’s head, and hits a FULL METAL TWIST OF FATE!! Cassidy writhes, Hardy talks trash that he will be rid of him once and for all! Will Freshly Squeezed be able to get even with the Hardy Family Office? Will he even be able to breathe?

AEW returns and there’s bedlam backstage!

It seems referees, producers and other wrestlers have had to separate CM Punk and Eddie Kingston again! Kingston’s almost all the way out of the parking lot but then he makes a break for it before Joey Janela and Baron Black can block him! Rampage was only the spark, what happens when these two get to burn it down at Full Gear?

Lio Rush & Dante Martin VS Matt Sydal & Lee Moriarty!

The Man of the Hour says now is the time! He’s making his return to AEW action and he’s alongside his new protégé in Angel Dorado. But Dante’s old mentor has picked the Ace of Space to stand beside him now. Will #LBOLio see his investment continue to pay off? Or will #PeaceLove&ProWrestling power Sydal & Moriarty to a Dynamite victory?

Lio whips, Sydal reverses but Lio springboards to FLYING RANA! And then he sucker punches Moriarty! Sydal and Moriarty both storm in but Dante gets in. Miro speaks.

“Bryan. This isn’t personal. You’re everything to some, but you’re nothing to me. You’re just a body standing between a man and his wife. Tell me, Bryan. Do you know my God? Do you know if he’s blessing me, or messing with me? Is he willing to trade my bad neck for yours? Because I need to win this tournament. I need to put the world title over my shoulder and the world champion under my ground! All this will happen not because my God blessed me, but because he feared me. Just like you should. You say you come here to feel alive, but you gotta understand that you’re pushing a man that is holding a scythe. But this isn’t personal. You have to say good-bye to your wife, so I can say hello to mine.”

Dax wobbles up top, Pac climbs up, brings Dax up, for a SHEER DROP BRAINBUSTER!!! Fans lose their minds over that one while both men are down! The ref checks on Dax, he’s somehow okay to continue, and Pac crawls to the cover, TWO!! Dax flounders to a corner, “This is Awesome!” as Pac runs in and BOOTS Dax down! Pac climbs, watches Tully closely, but still hits the BLINDSIDE MISSILE DROPKICK! Dax flops right into the other corner! The ref checks again but Dax is still in this. Pac drags Dax into a drop zone, goes to the corner and climbs up again, but Tully shouts to Dax and Dax rolls all the way to the other end.

Pac sighs, drops down, and runs in to UPPERCUT Dax! Then whip him corner to corner, and BOOT him again! And then back the other way, but Tully helps Dax dodge! Dax gets Pac for a BRAINBUSTER of his own! Cover, TWO!! Tully couldn’t tip the scales and Dax is furious! The ref reprimands the manager but Dax drags Pac up. Another suplex, but Pac slips out. Pac baits Dax into a SUPERKICK! Dax is in the drop zone again and fans fire up! Pac makes sure Dax is right where he wants him, goes back up top, but Dax trips him up! Dax turns Pac around, climbs up top, gets Pac up and hits a SUPER BACK SUPLEX! Both men are down again and fans are thunderous!

Dax writhes, a standing count begins, but Dax snarls and gets up at 5 of 10. Pac flounder sup as Dax throws off the armbands. Dax runs in, Pac gets under to GERMAN SUPLEX! Pac scowls, stalks Dax, waistlocks and dead lifts, but Dax elbows free! Dax runs, ducks the roundhouse and hits a LARIAT! Then he gets Pac up, REBOUND SIT-OUT POWERBOMB! Cover, TWO!?! Pac survives and infuriates Tully! Dax can’t believe it either but fans love “A E DUB! A E DUB!” for this one! Dax drags Pac up by his hair, Tully says one more time. Dax ROCKS Pac, stands him back up and ROCKS him again. And again, but Pac turns that to a backslide! TWO!! BRUTALIZER!! Pac has Dax caught, Dax verbally quits!!

Winner: Pac, by submission

Pac won’t let go, here comes Cash Wheeler! Cash mugs Pac, throws down fists, and Tully even holds Pac down. But then the lights go out?! And when the lights return, ANDRADE AND MALAKAI BLACK are here! They help mug Pac! But wait! Here comes THE LUCHA BROTHERS AND CODY RHODES! They’re all brawling with FTR, Malakai and Andrade! Indy is electric as The American Nightmare and Death Triangle clear the ring! Malakai boots but Cody boots back! Cody, Pac, Penta & Fenix stand tall! Will FTR lose out on become double champions? Will the Bastard and Cody get even with their respective enemies?

AEW takes a closer look at MJF VS Darby Allin.

Excalibur notes that “MJF doesn’t often speak the truth. But when he named the ‘Four Young Pillars of AEW…'” MJF says the Pillars are canon now. Excalibur says that those four–Sammy Guevara, Jungle Boy, Darby and MJF himself–are essentially homegrown stars and the next generation of world champions. JR says the fortune tellers, just like MJF. A great marketing slogan that goes beyond talking. Darby, in front of a car fire bonfire, says he’s seen MJF’s face before. The dumb scarf, the stupid smile… Tony Schiavone knows MJF sees no room at the top except for himself, and that is why he is trying to push Darby down.

Darby says guys like MJF think they can get to anyone. Darby says he can’t be broken mentally and he means that. MJF says Darby is just a wild hyena in the ring. Taz says Darby is a “violent thinker, but highly intelligent.” MJF says Darby is good at checkers, MJF plays chess. JR says Darby has heart and passion like no one else, but MJF says he has gotten so, so deeply into Darby’s mind that Darby won’t focus on anything but hurting MJF when he should be focused on beating MJF. But Darby says that’s where Max is wrong. Darby could wrestle circles around MJF. So go ahead, try to beat Darby with a headlock. Who will prove themselves the TOP name in this new generation?

BREAKING NEWS!

After things came to blows once again, Cody Rhodes & PAC will team up to take on Malakai Black & Andrade El Idolo, AT FULL GEAR! Will revenge be oh so sweet for the American Nightmare and The Bastard?

AEW has The Dark Order and Super Kliq leave the arena.

In order to make sure the contract signing tonight doesn’t turn into a war, everyone from Evil Uno to Preston Vance to even The Elite’s cold spray lackey, Brandon Cutler, are being removed from the premises.

Tony Schiavone is back in the ring.

He notes the ringside ban on the two factions, because now is time to sign on the dotted line! First out, the challenger, Hangman Adam Page! Indy fires up for the Cowboy as he walks out to the ring. And of course, out next is the champion, Kenny Omega! Omega struts out in a maroon suit and tie and holds up #PrettyPlatinum as he goes to the ring. Schiavone says the contract is presented, we don’t really need to talk about it much, but this is the single biggest prize in AEW. First off, the challenger gets to sign first. Fans chant for “COWBOY SH*T” as Hangman looks it over. He picks up the pen, but then gets the mic.

“After all this time, I don’t know what there’s left to say. And I know that the sooner I sign this, the sooner I get to Full Gear and beat your ass for the world championship.” Fans cheer that and Hangman puts down his signature. Fans are still fired up as Omega gets his turn. Omega wants to sign but he gets the mic. “I wish I could share your excitement. I wish I could share the excitement and the enthusiasm of these, uh… Wonderful fans. But I gotta say, Hangman, I’m a little sad, actually.” They were friends, tag partners, and family in The Elite. See all of this? Everything here was meant for Hangman. And if it wasn’t for Hangman’s failures and insecurities…

Fans boo but Omega says if Hangman talks about cowboy spirit and all that, well Hangman said it best himself: You fall off the horse, you get right back up. But if only the cameras caught how it really was. “It was never you. It was always us that picked you up out of your sorrows, every single time, sat you back up on that horse, and sent you back out there to give these people what they thought they wanted, and that was Cowboy S*it.” And why did Omega do that? Why? Even after Hangman walked away when they invited him back. Call him crazy, but Omega saw a little bit of himself in Hangman. “How wrong I was. What a disappointment.”

Hangman says Omega talks a lot about Hangman choking, his failures, his insecurities. Maybe Omega’s right. But if Hangman remembers right, Omega once had another tag team partner that made Omega feel like he didn’t measure up, either. Ibushi… But Hangman sees Omega now, “The Best Bout Machine, the Wrestling God, the man who’s been AEW World Champion for almost a year now, and it might be fair to say you’ve surpassed him.” And over the past few years, Omega’s told Hangman a lot of lies. He said Hangman’s not good enough, that he couldn’t beat Omega and let him fall flat on his face.

But the biggest lie was last year’s Eliminator Tournament Finals. When Omega won, he knelt down and told Hangman, “Good job, Hanger. I’m proud of you.” Omega wasn’t proud, he was afraid of Hangman! He didn’t want Hangman to feel the pain of loss like Omega did before. Omega didn’t want to light a fire under Hangman’s ass to prove himself and redeem himself! He didn’t want Hangman to become what Omega’s become and what Hangman will become this Saturday when he beats Omega, and that is THE AEW World Champion! Omega tries to defend that Hangman has it wrong. Omega did that out of necessity.

Believe it or not, Omega cares about Hangman! He did it because he wanted to be the guy standing across the table from Hangman when Hangman realizes his potential. Whether they can be friends again or not, who knows? But one thing is for sure, Omega wants to shake Hangman’s hand one last time. “Let’s kill it at the Pay-Per-View, man to man.” Fans don’t trust this. But Hangman does shake Omega’s hand! Omega says, “Good job, Hangman. I’m proud of you.” Omega’s biting words rile Hangman up, but then a cameraman attacks Hangman?! Because that was DON CALLIS in disguise! What a horrible fake beard, too.

Omega says he’s sorry, but he did this because he loves Hangman. Again, more bold faced lies as Callis celebrates their little plot! Callis says the greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was to make the world forget he existed! For six weeks, Callis stayed away, hiding in his basement! Hangman is busted open from that camera shot! “Does this look like someone who is ready to win the world title, Kenny?!” Omega wipes some of Hangman’s blood onto the contract to sign his name! Omega makes us look at the bloody signature, and Callis shouts at Hangman that he asked for this! This is what Hangman wanted! But will Hangman get what he really wants: revenge AND the title?

My Thoughts:

Once again, AEW nails how to do a go-home. They had great promo vignettes for the big attraction singles matches, and I like that we even got a brief Punk-Kingston moment in the parking lot area. AEW just keeps making each next PPV huge, and this Full Gear could be massive. We got an awesome opener out of Bryan VS Rocky, and I love that NJPW/Chaos is willing to make the rest of the Best Friends faction part of their faction. Yuta got the crap kicked out of him by Wardlow, and I figured The HFO would attack to revive their rivalry. Maybe Rocky helps the Best Friends take on Hardy, Private Party, Blade & Butcher, with Trent making a heroic return to make it 5v5 in the first Stadium Stampede without The Inner Circle.

I should’ve figured Inner Circle would get jumped by Lambert and company, so that the math favors the Inner Circle in the 10 Man Street Fight. Inner Circle is definitely winning and Lambert is definitely taking the finish. This AEW Six Woman Tag was much better than NXT’s Six Woman Tag. Rebel still isn’t that polished but she knows her part to play and plays it perfectly, and the math of course favors Rosa in her coming match with Hayter in the TBS Championship tournament. But Conti standing tall means she loses at Full Gear, as expected. Again, Rosa has to be the one to dethrone Britt, and it could be at Revolution.

Caster had another great rap, Jungle Boy and Bowens had a great match, and I like that the math is a bit of a wash for JB with Fish going after him. I also like the subtle nod to the Undisputed Era. Fish could be Elite by proxy, but he probably puts JB over on Rampage so that JB stands tall, and Super Kliq wins at Full Gear. The tag match of Lio & Dante VS Sydal & Moriarty was AWESOME, definitely showing that Lio and Sydal can still do so much in the ring, and that Dante and Moriarty are definitely the future. I hope Darius Martin can return soon, that is a trio to watch, or even a story of Dante having to choose between new mentor or his brother.

Miro had another great promo, he and Danielson are going to have a killer tournament finals. Dax VS PAC was one hell of a main event match! That in itself could’ve been PPV worthy, and naturally, we got our set-up for Cody & Pac VS Andrade & Malakai. That is going to be really good, but I think it goes the Heels’ way since the Faces stood tall. Lucha Brothers VS FTR could go either way, but Cody could turn on Pac to start playing with the idea that he won’t turn but he’s actually a Heel. And depending on how Darby VS MJF goes, which could go either way, I wonder if Andrade and/or Malakai usurp the Pinnacle from MJF given how they’re all working together like this.

And what a great contract signing segment! Great promos from both Hangman and Omega to bring up the continuity of the past year, because who knew wrestling could do that?! I say before giving side eye to WWE and the old man in charge… And just as I had been wondering where Don Callis went, he shows up here and gets one over on Hangman. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, Hangman should’ve still had his shot at All Out, should’ve won at All Out in a nod back to the original All Out, but he’s definitely winning here at Full Gear to bring things full circle from last year. And while MJF calls himself, Darby, Sammy and Jungle Boy the Four Pillars, Hangman will be the man to carry AEW in this third year and through the TBS move.

My Score: 9.1/10

  • Skye Blue VS Robyn Renegade w/ Charlette Renegade; Skye wins.
  • The Iron Savages w/ JT Davidson VS Gus De La Vega & Levy Valenzuela; The Iron Savages win.
  • Dante Martin & Matt Sydal VS The Workhorsemen; Dante & Sydal win.

QUICK NOTES

Good line-up here. I feel like the Trustbusters are gonna sweep the night because they’ll all be supporting each other with Heel tactics. Honestly, I feel Blake Christian and AR Fox would each win their match-ups if they didn’t have to worry about outside distractions. Good to see the former Bear Country, now Iron Savages, Boulder & Bronson, back in action. They’ll definitely get a good return win. And Dante & Sydal VS JD Drake & Anthony Henry is a great tag match, and I would think Dante & Sydal win that.

  • The Lucha Brothers w/ Alex Abrahantes VS Tony Deppen & Dante Martin; The Lucha Brothers win.
  • 8 Man Tag: Best Friends VS The Factory; Best Friends win.

QUICK NOTES

A really good line-up here, with the big attraction being Dalton & The Boys taking on Adrien Soriano, Matthew Omen, & Gabriel Hodder, aka Primal Fear. That’ll be a solid match that I will cover, but I don’t see the champions losing the titles. Good to see Cheeseburger but he’s gonna get eaten alive by Archer. And I like that we’re getting a full faction showdown of Best Friends VS The Factory. That’ll be a big win for Best Friends and they’ll have momentum going after Death Triangle for that feud.

PLAY BY PLAY

ROH World Six Man Tag Team Championships: Dalton Castle & The Boys VS Primal Fear!

The Peacock and the Tate Twins continue their reign as ROH’s trios champions, and now they defend these titles in the City of Brotherly Love! Adrien Soriano, Matthew Omen, & Gabriel Hodder are all hungry for the gold, but will they be the ones to fear Castle & The Boys?

The introductions are made, the belts are raised while The Boys help Castle with his robe and pants, and it is time to shine with gold in the Dark!

The trios sort out and Castle is all fired up as he starts against Soriano. They get in each other’s face, Castle gives a chest bump, so Soriano CHOPS him! Castle gets fanned off by the twins, then he comes back to circle with Soriano. Castle trips Soriano, rolls him with a leg, high stacks, TWO! Castle shoots in to waistlock and SLAMS Soriano down! Fans fire up, Castle waistlocks to roll Soriano around and throw down elbows. Castle gut wrenches, tag to Brendan, and he tags Brent. The Boys double whip Castle in to SPLASH Soriano at the corner, and then he feeds Soriano to a DOUBLE HIP TOSS!

The Boys roll Soriano back for Castle to shove forward into DOUBLE CLOTHESLINES! Brent covers, TWO! Brent drags Soriano up but he shoves Brent away to tag Hodder. Hodder runs in but Brent dodges to arm-drag him! Brent rushes in but Hodder kicks him low. Tag to Omen, they go after Brent but he fights back. That’s still 2v1 and they overwhelm him. They double whip, Brent ducks under but runs into a double TOSS right into the ropes! Soriano tags in and traps Brent, then Omen & Hodder run to the corners. They go up, out and Soriano runs, Primal Fear TRIPLE BOOTS Brent! Soriano covers, TWO!

Soriano drags Brent up, bumps him off buckles, but Brent elbows back. Brent hurries but Soriano reels him in. Brent lands out of the back suplex to hot tag Castle! Fans fire up with The Peacock as he rallies on Primal Fear! Castle gets around Soriano to Gotch lift OVERHEAD SUPLEX! Hodder runs in, into an EXPLODER! Omen returns, Castle dodges, blocks the boot and SAIDOS! Primal Fear regroups outside as fans fire up. “Bring me a Boy!” Brent runs in, Castle aims him and THROWS him at Omen! Then Castle has Brendan and THROWS him at Soriano! Brent returns, and Castle THROWS him at Hodder! And then he THROWS Brendan at Omen!

Brent’s back again, so Castle THROWS him at Soriano! Brendan is back, Castle THROWS him at Hodder! Fans fire up as Castle and the Boys regroup, DOUBLE BOY TOSS at Soriano! The Boys then send Soriano in for the Alabama Lift, and BANGARANG!! Cover, Castle & The Boys win!

Winners: Dalton Castle & The Boys, by pinfall (still ROH World Six Man Tag Team Champions)

There was no fear in The Peacock and his trusted twins, they took down Primal Fear with ease! Will they find bigger, stronger competition as they stick around AEW?
