POD is WAR & Peacemaker Review: Episode 6

POD is WAR is still on the Peace Train! We get a new German Judge this week! Hopefully you’re following the series, because it’s better than that guy in the mask, with the striped shirt, red gloves…and a cape!

Well since the Bandwagon Nerds are buried in other shows, the tumultuous triple triad decided this show’s title just goes too well with our show name. So as a cheap excuse for a literary reference, and to spread the good word of hair metal and John Cena, POD is WAR will be reviewing Peacemaker!

WAR & Peacemaker Review: Murn After Reading

Adam: So in all fairness, this one to me was the “weaker” episode. Not that it was bad but, let me explain. Every episode had a get together, having that band join together moment but this, seemed like it shattered the group more than anything. Leota found out Murn was a Butterfly and apparently, Harcourt and Economos had knowledge of it prior. For some reason, Murn isn’t the whole… taking over to survive Butterfly Invasion but more of the, I needed to so I can warn people about the invasion type of Butterfly. It was weird.

Anyway, we have Peacemaker and Vigilante in Peacemaker’s house, talking to Goff from Episode 3 in the jar and then, things get sour. The Police surround the home, Vigilante tries to help by taping the jar to his hip and once they make a seemingly clean escape, Vigilante falls and breaks the jar so the Butterfly escapes. Now that Goff found a new host in Sophie, the head of Detective, we have a lot of new problem. Murn has intel on the source of Butterfly food source and we have a whole invasion that came to Earth and inhabiting the entire police force at the end.

OH! And the White Dragon is out of prison so… a new challenger has appeared for Peacemaker and the gang.

Adam’s Rating: 3.75/5

PC Tunney: And once again, our commissioner is dealing with wedges, wood and traps in his life. If you think it means anything else outside of Golf, you should check out POD Is WAR… and then to a therapist for the dirty mind.

Tunney’s Rating: 4/5

Andrew: Legitimately, the IMDB rating I find insanely surprising. This was probably the heaviest “table setting” episode that Peacemaker has had thus far. The levity that the bring your relative to work day scenes add, are easily offset with a lot of dominoes falling.

Detective Song went over the new Captain’s head to get Auggie Smith absolved of the charges and a warrant written up to get Peacemaker. So we get one of Song’s better moments where she actually gets in a solid burn against the racist, and he tells one of the Neo Nazis that first he needs to get laid and then he’s going to kill his son.

Well this brings us to the Goff butterfly trying to communicate with Peacemaker, while the police are heading to his trailer to arrest him. Shenanigans and stupidity from Vigilante make things more complicated than they need to be. So when Goff Butterfly gets out, it actually goes into Song’s body. The rest of the episode is Song recruiting dozens of butterflies to take over the entire police force, the White Dragon getting his crew together to kill Peacemaker and the A.R.G.U.S. crew pointing fingers and uncovering agendas left and right.

Murn being the butterfly, Leota planting the diary that the Butterfly Police Force use to incriminate Peacemaker, Harcourt being conflicted between duty and a burgeoning friendship, Economos starting to come into his own and Peacemaker slowly becoming a more well-rounded person and disregarding much of the early stupidity we thought was all his persona. Was this great for setting the stage for the last two episodes? Hell yeah. But on its own merits, the episode is weak and really relies heavily on the first season sticking the landing for these moving pieces to matter.

Andrew’s Rating: 3.85/10

Consensus POD is WAR Rating on Peacemaker – Murn After Reading: 3.87/10

Chairshot Radio Large

A couple of weeks ago, Patrick & Dave wrote off their respective teams and had given up all hope on either reaching the playoffs. Two weeks later, the reverse psychology has paid off as both the Blues and Capitals have climbed back into the playoff picture. With only about 10 games left on the regular season slate, the guys celebrate their teams’ resurgence and also contemplate other questions such as: Is this the Rangers’ year? Which Canadian team has the best chance at ending Canada’s Stanley Cup drought? Which teams have the nastiest schedules heading down the stretch. All that and much more on this week’s installment of Hockey Talk.

Today’s hosts: Dave Ungar (@AttitudeAgg) and Patrick O’Dowd (@WrestlngRealist)

  • The Caps and Blues fight back!
  • Is this the New York Rangers’ year?
  • Can any of the Canadian teams end the Stanley Cup drought?
