Paul Heyman: “Brock Lesnar Wants To Compete Inside Of The Octagon”

Current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar is headed to a WrestleMania 34 collision with Roman Reigns in a rematch of their WrestleMania 31 battle that ended in Seth Rollins giving fans one of the most memorable “WrestleMania Moments” of all time.

This match-up comes with the much talked about contract status for Lesnar, believed to be ending after the April 8 spectacular. Paul Heyman recently commented on Lesnar’s desire to fight in the UFC when speaking with Newsweek:

“I don’t think it’s any secret that Brock is looking to get back into the Octagon. He is obviously eyeballing another fight in UFC. There’s no secret. He’s posing for pictures with Dana White wearing a UFC shirt in the UFC offices in Las Vegas. That’s not a negotiating tactic, Brock Lesnar wants to compete inside of the octagon. There’s no leveraging that; it’s a fact.”

Thoughts:

Paul Heyman is a long-time associate of Lesnar’s outside of the ring (and octagon), so it’s entirely possible that him saying it’s not leverage or negotiating is actually part of Lesnar gaining leverage for a negotiation. If Lesnar returns to the UFC (he’s currently retired), he would still have a suspension to sit out thanks to a failed drug test after UFC 200.

It’s also entirely possible that Lesnar stays with WWE, but has the ability to fight for the UFC written into his contract. Any UFC promotion of Brock Lesnar is essentially promotion for WWE, regardless of Lesnar’s win-loss record in a return.
